The enormous scandal of kickbacks by Lockheed was found out, and would have been a sales disaster otherwise. The English Electric company, in comparison, had some serious runs on the board, with terrific toasters, mixers, refrigerators, the Canberra bomber and the Lightning in particular, with amazing time to height records to its name. The true domain of an interceptor.
