    Was great to hang out for lunch once again buddy. Btw to be fair to Olympus, that service center is run by YL and as you know, they are not known for their superb customer service unfortunately but they do carry a LOT of camera items and gears.

      Showing up in person to ask about my camera and lens seems to have had an effect. I got an email first thing this morning with a quote for the repairs and asking me if they should go ahead with them.
      I have a feeling that if I didn't go there and make a bit of noise, I'd still be waiting for a couple more weeks or longer.
      But, yeah, I noticed the YL Camera sign, and someone told me that the place was run by YL. And then the somewhat spotty customer service made a lot more sense. 😁

      I did ask Daryl when I saw him, and I wasn't surprised to find out that he knew all about it and he'd known for a long time. 😁 I guess he was keeping secrets from me...
      More likely, he just assumed I knew all about it as well. I'm sure it was common knowledge for the world in general. Only dummies like me missed the news about the new feature...

    Wait. Whatsapp has a companionmode? WTF? Now I will have to see about setting that up instead of having the 2 profiles driving me nuts. Haha

    • @PlanetDoug
      @PlanetDoug  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I had the exact same reaction when I found out. I didn't set up two profiles, but I routinely used a Wi-Fi hotspot on one phone so that I could use WhatsApp on my other phone. It was always a bit of a pain.
      But now I have the same WhatsApp account across both phones and it works perfectly. I guess one phone is still considered the primary. But WhatsApp works exactly the same on both phones. It's a lot more convenient.

    Initially I thought Food City (which is a chain of food courts and they have many branches) is in Velocity. Then i saw the place from ur video and it is actually in AEON which is a department store/mall a few metres away from Velocity. Familiar to me because i often go there so i was able to spot it, or else I will think that it is located in Velocity which coincidently has an AEON in it too.

    • @PlanetDoug
      @PlanetDoug  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was confused about that, as well. Quite often, when Daryl picks out a place for a meal and I have my GoPro running, I just follow him around and don't even realize where we went or where we are.
      Thinking back, Daryl mentioned that we were going to AEON, but then I just followed him as he led the way, and I didn't pay any attention to where we went or even how we got there. My brain is too occupied with other things. 😃
      I think in the back of my mind, I thought we were still in Sunway Velocity.

    Hi Doug
    I didn't KINEMASTER , It look like easier than DA VINCI RESOLVE , witch one would you use if there were no problem with audio ?

    • @PlanetDoug
      @PlanetDoug  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The biggest difference between them is that KineMaster is available only for mobile devices. It is relatively basic and easy to use because of that. But you can only use it on smartphones to edit videos. KineMaster is not available for computers.
      DaVinci Resolve is a professional program used on laptops and desktops. It's a massive program with every feature and capability you can think of. KineMaster is practically a toy compared to DaVinci Resolve.
      So, in my case, the choice between them is more about whether I want to edit on my phone or on an actual computer. I don't actually need the power of DaVinci Resolve. I barely scratch the surface in terms of using its features. My editing is so simplistic that I probably use one or two percent of what DaVinci Resolve is capable of.
      I ended up using DaVinci Resolve only because it was free, and it would run on my MacBook. It's not really suitable for what I do. I'd probably be much happier with something simpler and with more automated TH-cam-friendly features. I've just never gotten around to buying a different program.
      All that being said, DaVinci Resolve is still the better choice for me over KineMaster. DaVinci Resolve has the ability to adjust multiple audio tracks. And that is a feature I rely on because I often use two microphones recording to separate channels. Kinemaster can't do that.
      DaVinci Resolve also has the ability to copy and paste within a video project and between video projects. Plus, you can create custom styles that you can apply quickly to text and graphics. KineMaster can't do any of this. So, using it can be quite a bit slower at times. KineMaster works well for a very simple video project. But you have to format every graphic and every piece of text individually from scratch. There's no ability to save anything as a custom style. That can be very slow.
      So, if I had to choose only one, I would choose DaVinci Resolve. But if I want to edit on my smartphone, I have no choice. I have to use KineMaster or one of the other smartphone programs like Capcut.

    The companion mode works the same way as WhatsApp Web...... Now u know 👍

    • @PlanetDoug
      @PlanetDoug  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It works exactly like that, doesn't it? I've had WhatsApp Web up and running for a long time now. It's made my life a lot easier. But I never knew the same technology allowed me to do the same thing with a second smartphone. It's so much better now.
      One benefit is that I often take pictures and screenshots with both smartphones. And in the past, I would often want to send a picture to a friend on WhatsApp, but the picture would be on the wrong phone. And I would have to somehow transfer it or copy it to the other phone in order to send it via WhatsApp. It was always a hassle.
      But now I don't have to do that anymore. I can take pictures with any phone and have access to them on WhatsApp. I don't have to think about it anymore.

    why you got to lable the keys from your macbook with stickers ? wouldnt it be easier , by just changing their positions ? there are some tutorials on youtube how you could do that . just an idea :D . Great video again , btw . Got to check out that YUT KEE breakfast , when i will go to KL in October . keep it up doug , I realy adore your way of living ! You live my dream ...;D

    • @PlanetDoug
      @PlanetDoug  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess I didn't explain what I was doing clearly enough. 😃.
      I actually already did what you are suggesting. I moved the keys around by switching broken ones for good ones. And because I changed their positions, they were now all mislabeled.
      For example, I switched the letter "A" key with the number "2" key. So, when you press on the key labelled 2 it gives you an A. I hope that makes sense.
      So I bought the the stickers so I can label all the keys correctly again. I changed the position of the physical number 2 key with the A key on the keyboard. And that became confusing because I had to switch so many keys. My keyboard was just a jumble. With the stickers, I can relabel all of them so they are back to normal.
      You'd probably have to see it to understand what I'm talking about. But that is what is going on. 🤪

      But if I were you I wouldn't leave the stickers on for too long, I can imagine that the glue will liquefy very soon in the Asian heat and then the keyboard will become sticky. I think the better idea would be to either buy replacement keys or take the thing to the repair service again :D

    • @PlanetDoug
      @PlanetDoug  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was worried about that as well. In the local heat, the adhesive could liquefy and everything could become sticky.
      But when I opened up the package of stickers, I was pleased to find that they were quite stiff and relatively thick and the adhesive wasn't gluey. It felt like the high quality kind of adhesive you find on GoPro sticky mounts. And in my experience, they don't degrade or liquefy. We shall see what happens.

    For me Yut Kee is totally overrated, it's just normal plain food. I would even say foodwise the place is a joke.

    • @PlanetDoug
      @PlanetDoug  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Seems harsh. 😁 I like the place because it's close to my hotel, has comfortable, spacious seating, an old-school traditional ambiance, and fast, friendly service.
      As far as the food goes, then I have to defer to other people's more expert opinion. I like the chicken chop. It's simple and filling and tasty. I have the chicken chop almost all the time. I can't remember the last time I ordered something else from their menu. I also like their iced cham.
      I have had the chicken chop at at least two other restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, and I remember noting each time that the chicken chop at Yut Kee was more to my taste. I preferred it there. But that is as far as my learned opinion about the food goes.
