The "Hot in Cleveland" star looked back at her friendship with Betty White and revealed how she celebrated her late co-star's 100th birthday. Valerie also got candid about her relationship with her late husband Eddie Van Halen and shared what she'll say to the rocker once they see each other again. Plus, Valerie revealed why she will never get married again.

I met Valerie years ago right after she had lost all that weight and wrote a book. When she was signing my book we started talking about cats and she took out her phone to she me pictures! Such a down to earth person. I will always be a fan.

I've always loved Valerie Bertinelli's acting, professionalism and her personality. She's the same age as me, 61 years old.
I always felt I could identify with her and relate to her ups and downs.
Valerie is now coming from a RECENT broken relationship and has to have time to repair and respect herself.
Valerie has to tell herself that she is NOT broken but the relationship was.
When I turned 60 years old, I felt so much more acceptance of myself, and I think that's where she is too.
It is a great feeling to accept yourself and to love you as you are RIGHT NOW.

It's a shame we have to get old before we can push the negativity aside and to not care so much about what others think of us. Getting old (in my late 60s) has been very freeing for me, in many ways. For decades, into my 30s, I would not step out the door without makeup on my face. Now, it's no big deal to run up to the corner store with no makeup on and not give a damn. Love it!
I am her age also. Love her so much. She is so dow. To earth fame never effected her. She is beautiful.

This is what I've been saying. Valerie needs therapy. She's deranged. She's a bad influence on her son too. It's painful to watch. The 2 of them are just going to eat themselves to death now. I wished for a better future for the only child of Eddie Van Halen!!! But with a mother like her what do you expect?She's a Narcissist. I can't watch anymore. I have to write the 2 of them off. Eddie is gone. His band is gone. His music is gone. His concerts are gone. His family is gone. Wolfgang will die young and won't be very productive because Valerie is attaching herself to him and using him as a husband substitute. Serious Norman Bates vibes. "A boy's best friend is his mother." It's just sick. I can't pay attention to either one of them. It's just too sick. I don't want that energy in my life. Gross.

He split with his second wife two years before he passed away.
I'm with Valerie. 61 and don't want the relationship mess. Love my family, love my dog and love my fish.
I'm at that point at 50. Never been happier! Divorced 12 yrs ago... 2nd marriage. I was done. I enjoy my life being my own and giving all my time to my kids without worry of not dividing my time between them and a man. I'm a Grandmother now and I am so incredibly happy in my own skin now. I agree with Valerie. I was 12 and we were having health week. I was already 5ft 4" and weighed 125. My teacher in front of another teacher said you are overweight and need to watch your weight. After that I lost weight at times to 104. After I had my daughter I lost again down to 114. Teachers, parents and friends should be careful of how you talk about weight, especially to young children. I'm the youngest of 5 and my oldest sister of 12 years was always worried about my weight. I'm in my 50's now and finally got rid of the negative people in my life. I don't like gossip and I only have a close circle of friends. It makes you more relaxed and you smile more.
My mother told me that I was at a "perfect weight" when I was 12 years old, and to not let myself get "any bigger."(I was super tiny). She created a binge eater in that very one moment.I battled with that when my daughter was young and was always dieting and I created a child with Bulimia without realizing it. I too hate gossip and being around toxic people and try to be around only positive people.
Yes, I wish children would cultivate the ability to say back, "Do you think you look good?! Rather be me than you. Yikes, find a mirror. And read a book on good manners."
That was horrible that the teacher said that to you because a doctor will tell you that at 5'4" and 125 lbs you were NOT overweight!

I always hated getting weighed at school! I was always one of the tallest biggest girls in my class! I always felt like a cow because of the way I was treated and comparing myself to other girls including my sisters! Looking back at my pictures from that time … I was the perfect size! I was 5’8” in the 6th grade so of course I weighed more than the tiny girls! I also wore a size 10 shoe! My Dad was 6’5” and wore a size 14 shoe! It’s Genetics! I’m 64 now and I’m good with being a GLAMAZON! It’s empowering!

I feel like she and Eddie never stopped loving one another. It seems like while their divorce was inevitable, they both regretted that they didn't stay together. I love how they co-parented their son so beautifully. PS: Her new book is so good.
To me, Valerie will always be beautiful no matter what the scale says. I know the kinds of struggles she has gone through with weight. I grew up in a big Italian family, so I have a love hate relationship with food and I wish I looked a certain way, but menopause has other ideas. I think the people who are fortunate to call her friend, co-worker, mom, sister, aunt or daughter are lucky because they have this kind, caring soul in their life. I've never heard one person who has worked with or for her say, "Man is she full of herself." Norman Lear just kept calling her sweet. Could you ask for a more glowing review? Valerie, whatever the future holds for you I wish you peace, happiness and joy!

Valarie! Sounds great, still so pretty. I remember way back in the 70's with One Day at a Time, the show, and I was a kid and had a crush on her. She is amazing. Then back in the 80's she and Eddie were like royalty. I'm 57 and still love her, I mean, what's not to like?
I agree with her. I am 61 and couldn't care less about "finding love". I am so content just living on my own - getting together with friends and family, but living alone. I have never had more peace of mind since I made that decision YEARS ago. Loved her on One Day At a Time in the 70's - she always came across as relatable and down to earth.

Theresa, How TRUE it is that we will never get over our lost soul mates and the parts of us they took with them!! It’s been years since my husband died and it’s taken me that long to realize I’ll never be the SAME person I was with him, and that’s OK. Theresa, we’re Lucky enough to have had love that many NEVER experience so we’ll keep the Joy of their memories and the laughter, long talks and loving embrace.
When Valerie said that being loved and lovable has nothing to do with your weight, I began to sob….I’m 65 and I’ve struggled with my weight for the last 25 years. Because of it, my self esteem has been in the toilet for quite some time now. Thank you Valerie for helping me realize that I still matter… o matter how much I weigh.💖👵🏻

She is such a great person. I myself am 59 and I will never get married again and I will never live with another man and I do not ever want to have a boyfriend. Their is just to much crap to go through in a relationship. I cannot handle it anymore. Life is getting shorter and I want the rest of MY life to be about ME. I am very secure about myself now and I am happy to have my dog and my cats.

I think Eddie and Valerie were true soul mates. One only finds that once in his or her life time.
If they were that.... they would have REMARRIED. I am talking from experience. She is using all of this. I feel sorry for Eddie's 2nd wife. Cast to the side because Valerie stepped in and played the game.

I believe they were good friends who respected each other and shared the joy of raising their son. The one thing that I’m not so sure about, is that Ed would be waiting for her in heaven. She could of responded to the interviewer when she asked Valerie “what would you say to Ed when you meet again in heaven. Something on the line of …. (Hi - It is so wonderful to see you again, Wolfgang and I really missed you!).

I can totally relate to her! We really don't always have to be embroiled in a relationship, especially when that relationship may be toxic. MANY people need to learn this priceless lesson and understand loving oneself is so much more important than losing themselves to appease another. And sure, we get lonely sometimes, but not as painfully as it is to be in a relationship that is lonely. I've realized the only time I really need a man is when I need the refrigerator moved.

I was told in my preadolescence that I had a fat belly and my brothers were allowed to make fun of me over it. When I was 12 my dr told me to not gain weight and only get taller! It’s horrible the shaming that is done to girls.

Many people are saying how Eddie's second wife wasn't around at his passing, but I'm sure that I read an article from Valerie and in it she talked about how she, Wolfie and the second wife there all there towards the end of his life.
Love Valerie Bertinelli! She IS lovable no matter what the scale says. Throw away the scale, is my advice. I did that years ago, and lost weight! Not that it matters, I do mean. It’s senseless to try to be skinny, especially if it means depriving yourself all the time, or most of it. Most important, if you don’t feel valid, or lovable, or valuable when you aren’t a ridiculously low weight, then I think it’s best to fix your focus and your mindset, first! Love yourself above all. Stephen, I respectfully disagree. I've been divorced for almost 22 years now and spent most of my marriage separated anyway. I'm at peace and joy within myself, I have not even dated or thought about it... it's so lovely just being me and my little dog, if I don't want to cook or clean for a day or two or week then I don't. I don't have to answer to anyone but me, especially some drunk that only comes home when there is no place else to go to. I don't have to sit up sick with worry at night waiting for a call from the morgue. I can read, crochete,craft or whatever without being criticized. I could tell you a million reasons why single is better and really at our age wanting to date is kinda like shopping in a second hand store. So I hope Valerie is very happy with her choices.👍🏻👍🏻🙏🙏🙂
