    This guide was perfect. I was able to replace my trackpad after following your guide (which was part of the top part that was removed - it wasn't specifically shown in the video but you got me 90% of the way there!)
    Thanks!

    Jesus christ galf the screws in mine are corroded, 3-4 of them have their heads 'shaved' as in the part where you are supposed to head is almost completely a round bowl, making it impossible to unscrew them, and my mainboard just died. The touchpad has been dead fpr so long but so far no place has been able to replace it. Welp i'm bring this guy to the chopshop on saturday, with the main priority being changing the mainboard, second priority being replacing all the damn screws (which will probably also fix the issue of me having it turning off random when i'm carrying it around not connected to the wall) and the 3rd priority being replacing the touchpad. Seriously i have been so accustomed to not having a touchpad. Neat mouse and other keypad mouse emulator have almost completely replaced the touchpad functionality on my laptop.

    On another video someone showed how to take out the keyboard: he didn't mention the screw holding the keyboard at the bottom and also not that you can move the keyboard towards the mouse and it is easy to take out that way. Your video is great. I just downloaded it. I had a Probook 450 G1 from a friend and the screen was flickering all the time. Funny thing was that windows didn't start up right and I installed Linux instead. The flickering stopped. Now I'm installing Windows 10 on the laptop.. so far everything ok. Except the keyboard... pressing on "e" doesn't show the letter... so maybe only the keyboard has to be replaced. I'm gonna take it out, clean it as far es possible and put it back in. Maybe that's sufficient... Great video!

    Firstly, thanks for post this video! I was having overheating issues and opened this up, replaced the thermal paste and used compressed air to blow out the fan blades. The computer works great now and no longer shuts down due to overheating...though weirdly windows and HP Assistant do not recognize the OEM battery anymore. Did I miss a cable during reassembly?

    • @OpenMeUpTec
      @OpenMeUpTec  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      doubt it. as it recognises the battery. must be from over heating damage.

    • @jennitc636

    wait a minute, the hp probook 450 g1 has 2 ram slots. why do you install just one? for future upgrades? as far as i can tell, the ram isn't the only bottleneck on this thing. there's also the cpu. but i have to give it to the designers that the gpu on this thing is OP for it's line and series. overclock the gpu on this thing and i managed to play gta 5 and black ops 2 on high settings. yeah, high settings. the only drawback is that the metal bars that covers the fan (for decorative purposes and to prevent someone poking their fingers in) broke off due to the extreme heat. (the gpu is over 100 degrees c when overclocked)

    • @OpenMeUpTec
      @OpenMeUpTec  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      More ram doesn't do anything. With ram your computer is only affected if you don't have enough having more doesn't make the computer better as you only need enough

    • @hoangtran4736
      @hoangtran4736 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      OPEN ME UP the problem is I don't have enough (if you don't know already, i'm watching this to see how to remove the ram, hence my interest towards it). did you insert a 16 or 8 gb stick in there, because a 4gb stick is hardly enough. and yes, i know unused ram is wasted ram. i am in the process of choosing whether to go balls to the wall and build an average gaming rig or to upgrade the ram for a small fee to extend the life of this thing.

    Would the thermal paste be a solution to overheating or do you use is just when you disassemble ?

    • @OpenMeUpTec
      @OpenMeUpTec  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes and no. normally when a laptop gets old the thermal paste gets old as well so replacing it with new thermal paste does help if it was the issue. but for you i recommend you to follow the video, replace thermal paste and clean out the fan. this in most case will resolve the issue

    will this be the same for the 440 g1 model because the hard drive which you said had four screws looks similar to mine which had four phillips screws and seemed to be in the same location also where would you recomend buying a replacement hard drive with windows 8 on it

    • @OpenMeUpTec

      +nevin jacobsif it look the same it should be the same. 450 is never than the 440 and most of the time they just use the same casing and just place newer hardware inside. you need to explain to me what you want to do with the hard drive and with you want to replace it because right now you just ask me if you should be a replacement hard drive which i can not answer since i don't know why or what is wrong.

      OPEN ME UP
      Actually, I just watched another 450 G1 video, and that one showed the hatch being removed without removing any screws either, so I decided to try it out myself, and lo and behold, it popped off.
      Now, there is some type of star-headed screw inside there, but it seems to be underneath the molding. I think it holds down the battery contact housing in place.
      Now to replace my HDD and reinstall Windows before this current HDD goes completely to hell. Thanks for the video!

    • @TheHabitman
      @TheHabitman 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, another question: what temperature differences did you notice after applying that thermal paste? What were the readings originally compared to the readings after applying new paste? My G1 tends to idle at about 43C when surfing YT and playing a video in the background. When a game runs, it jumps to around the 60C range, and when using Photoshop and such programs, it hovers around 55C.
      The HDD apparently has reached up to 80C, but usually operates at 70C, which is 10 degrees hotter than the specs allow. The way the bottom is built doesn't really allow for adequate cooling from an auxillary fan either.

    • @OpenMeUpTec
      @OpenMeUpTec  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheHabitman sorry forgot HP like to use star shape screws which called Torx T screw driver

    • @OpenMeUpTec
      @OpenMeUpTec  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      if your laptop is new don't worry about the temperature it is normal for a laptop to have high temperature. change your thermal paste if you can but it doesn't make a massive difference if your laptop is new only noticeable when your laptop is older.
      the most important thing to do is to update your bios, as thats where it changes things, when laptops are produce the laptop setting are assumed (power, speed and heat) so after releasing the laptop and getting complaints and finding out issues they change it in the bios which will change how your laptop runs.
      laptops are not design to have extra cooling on the outside using external fans, it is ok for your hard drive to run hot it is not a big deal if you are not happy with this then try getting a SSD that will solve your issue and improve your laptop experience.

      The layout looks exactly the same as the 455 g1, so I presume so

      if you watch the video it shows you that it can be changed. CPU can be changed, graphic card is solder on, ram can be changed to 16GB max with 8 GB in each slot and there are 2 slots, wireless card can be changed and hard drive is a 2.5 inch hard drive

      +OPEN ME UP i forgot to mention that it has windows 7 on it

    • @OpenMeUpTec
      @OpenMeUpTec  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Form what I can see you didn't install windows 7 and it was already on the hard drive. If that true then you will need to bios and turn on enable legacy. As this laptop is newer it use UEFI bios which windows 7 doesn't work with

    • @OpenMeUpTec
      @OpenMeUpTec  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you should get yourself a screw driver set to open up the laptop since there are many types on screws and you need many types on screw driver size.

      nothing special. most likely you disconnect the hard drive open it up and place it in correctly. next is your windows my be corupted but that doesnt mean your data is lost, it is still on the hard drive. the worst is your hard drive died thats all
