So many negative comments. People are missing the point... If you want a normal TV, there are hundreds of models to buy. If you have a living or commercial space where you don't want a massive black screen occupying the room and views then this is a great innovation for that purpose. Just because you don't have that space doesn't make this a pointless product. This technology will evolve into smaller transparent displays that I guarantee you will use in the future. Believe it or not innovation has to start somewhere. Kudos to the people that solved this apparently niche problem with art.

    • @Skooz
      @Skooz 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

As beautiful as it is, this is clearly not for the mass consumers even if you ignore the price tag
Video quality suffers hard from transparent display, there are not a lot of consumers willing to sacrifice that at this price point.
It's a very niche product, more of a tech flex showcase imo

@@Skooz I don't even get the point of such TV unless for a rich person to brab to friends having it display like art, they are awful to watch anything and you will even have to buy some black panel to put behind.
Other than that, it would make a cool window 🤣
For comercial use I think is where they are more focused like having high quality ads from the brand with some products behind.
Anyway Samsung has the best one by far since they have an even much more transparent one in microled that can produce much brighter colours and probably a magnitude higher of lifespan which would be crucial in a store almost used 24/7 without ever replacing unless when it goes bad and I think the Samsung one gives the option to put a black panel behind and make it into an actual full highest end of the line quality TV but off course it's also pretty expensive but for rich stores/people would be a much better option than the LG one.

You can turn it transparent to allow light to come through from your windows when you're not using it and blend it to your surroundings without having to see a giant black rectangle in front of you.

I saw these displays at the LG booth at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas last week. The displays actually have a black background that can be raised or lowered depending on whether the viewer wants true immersive video or just information on a display they can look through. if you watch the video again at about 00:29, 00:46, and at 01:03 you can see through the video and the background rising from the bottom of the display.

@@billhayes7014 I totally skipped it but still not my kind of thing and I don't think it will be as good as what they already use for ages on their normal oled TVs which we know works good to surpress light bleed around the pixels which I don't think a full transparent one with some black panel added on the back will ever be as good.
Also it's not that amazing since a scientist from my country made full transparent Oled and even electronics many years ago and all she used was a modified normal inkjet printer with her own researched material that completely replaces transistors and is even supposedly cheaper...
She also claimed it was so cheap to produce that we could soon have interactive disposable newspapers and all windows turning white to block sunlight and so on...
Anyway after she started accepting big money from big companies like Samsung and others we never heard of it anymore and only from time-to-time they come up with something similar for a crazy huge chunk of money.
Ps: her name is Elvira Fortunato and in theory she can even make a full computer transparent including Oled screen as a all-in-one processing and displaying unit built into glass, paper, plastic...

My second LG OLED just failed after only 20 months and I'm not at all happy about it. The first one lasted about 3 years before it developed a green spot in the middle which I've read is very common and caused by the main board getting hot. Now this one just had a white line suddenly appear just to the left of center of the screen. Tried all the troubleshooting steps to no avail. Called local LG repair facility and was quoted over $1500 to replace the panel. Apparently new LG TVs have a 2 year warranty, but mine only had a 1 year. Tried contacting LG support anyway to see if they would like to help a repeat customer but was given a flat NO. Very disappointed, LG.

This is a conversation piece. If you only want to show off cool art and stuff, that's fine. It'd be an interesting TV for that purpose. But if you just want to watch regular TV this is completely useless. No one wants to set up their TV in front of a window and have whatever is going on outside interfering with the content of their shows. We went from the blackest blacks to totally transparent. This will have some cool commercial use, I bet. It'll be fun to see how it gets used but the average consumer will not want one of these.

Somebody needs to explain why anybody needs to pay what this TV is going to cost just to watch TV. - even if they have the money. Yep its a really cool gadget for about the first 5 minutes but it reminds me of all those toys i got at Christmas and only played with for a few days and then lost interests in because while they initially seemed cool - they didn’t really do very much. I’m not saying that there is nothing here to continue to work on because it might prove to be very useful if a very thin TV could, chameleon-like disappear on a wall (or be the wall) and be almost invisible to the naked eye until you want to watch TV and was inexpensive enough that average wage earners could by it. But right now is a gadget that actually has nothing to do with improving tv viewing itself. And if we have to purchase this shelving unit to house it “artistically” I’m pretty sure it will goo the way of 3D TV and their glasses.

I see where you're confused... you think that people will buy this "just to watch TV." That reason of "to watch TV" is probably not at the top of the list of reasons to buy. Some people just love to have the newest and most innovative tech and appreciate the genius of it. A lot of people buy things like this to impress others and to show that they can. As far as actual practical reasons for this TV, I think it would be awesome to place in an area of a wall "cut-out" where you want to see through between the rooms. *** Now what would be super awesome is if people in BOTH ROOMS could each watch the TV at the same time by having the set put a "black" background between the two "screens" on either side! ***

@@-C-D-A- Hardly confused - I do get the concept - quite surprised that tis is what you took from my comment. Oh well. Cut holes in what ever walls you wish and enjoy seeing from room to rom without having to go full open concept. Good luck.

DO NOT BUY LG. THEIR SUPPORT SUCKS. IF YOU ORDER DIRECTLY FROM LG, THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY, BUT DO NOT DELIVER THE PRODUCT.

That ad looked really really cool but how many used cases did they display? What did they use the TV for entertainment? No entertainment they had a Fishbowl, and a very, very expensive forecasting app that told you the weather. and not to mention the window that showed you what's outside your other window.🪟²
