    Could you do some videos about things like which fin size to choose, RDM vs SDM masts, old second hand equipment, different sail types?. That would greatly help us garden variety windsurfers.

    Hello! I really like the comparison between a car and a windsurf. I struggle to get going and the biggest problem for me is to get in footsteps. My position on the board is like you were in this video (9:23) and have a lot of trouble to get ny body forward and to get in footsteps. The wind for my location is mostly around 12 - 18 knots and i have 131L board and 7.0m2 sail. Can you please give me some pointers?

      Hi!
      Thanks for watching. It’s difficult to govern the right pointer without knowing/seeing what you’re up to.
      Maybe you have some clips if you windsurfing?
      I take a lot of online sessions for people who can’t make it to vass for coaching… maybe we could schedule one?
      Drop me a message… contact details in description

    Fantastic!!! I now have a legitimate excuse! “I am in a board meeting !” This also applies when I’m ON my board😃. Keep it up!

    I haven't watched this yet, but I'm sure it'll be great; your videos always are. But... please slap whoever did the opening logo (even if it's yourself, which I doubt!). "podcast's" - aarrrgghhhh! Save us from the feral apostrophe!

    I took a clinic from the great US instructor Andy Brandt. I was working on the foil jibe, which is my nemesis. Andy noticed that I wasn't keeping my body weight on the inside of the jibe radius. He also noticed that I wasn't looking ahead to where I wanted to go. He said that the windsurfing jibe is like riding a bike. When you turn your bike you lean into the turn, not away from it. He also said that that when you turn your bike, you don't look down at the handlebars, you look ahead to where you want to turn. Everybody who rides a bike knows that. Once I corrected those mistakes, I started making my foil jibes, or at least a much higher percentage of them.

      Great to hear… the right analogy can really spark learning moments for students! 😎

    I agree with practise makes permanent. I learnt back in the days before You tube and didn't have lessons.
    The last few years I've been going back and retraining my gybes . It's hard if you've been doing something for 30 years and it's ingrained. Much easier to learn properly straight up.

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely harder to re-learn, than learn correctly the first time!

    Hey Cookie. I noticed that the board you use is almost always the same size and that it fully supports your weight (no sinking in lulls and low wind turns). Is there a sweet spot for board size? Maybe something that is just barely large enough to fully support your weight. Over the years I think I've developed a misconception (from other TH-camrs) that smaller is better. Thoughts? Love your videos and Vassiliki looks beautiful!

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Smaller is not better. Smaller is more sensitive to foot pressure, sinks more- so harder to get moving and get up wind… insight apx 80kg, I often coach on a 133 (as in this video)… works perfect as a fast and stable platform for getting going and teaching foot strap skills.
      133lt is apx 50lt above my weight. 👌
      I of course also have 80lt for high winds and waves, 100lt is my go-to freestyle board on flat water.

      @joegar72 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Cookiesports So I weigh 85kg without equipment. I currently use my beginner board still (190L fanatic) but a couple of years ago bought a used 115L Goya Volar assuming that it was something I would graduate to. Do you think it would be good to have a board in the 140-150 range for me to have as my go to board. It should fully support me. The 190L viper just feels too big.

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The viper is great- stick on the foot straps and you’ll be planing about on that happily!
      115 is a huge jump… something 140-160 would bridge the gap nicely. Look into a GO or CARVE. 👍

    • @joegar72
      @joegar72 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Cookiesports Yeah I knew the 115 was a big jump but had always planned on getting something in the middle. Thanks for the input! Cheers.

    Second time I see you on a duotone boom and not point-7 anymore. Is there a reason for that?

    • @Cookiesports
      @Cookiesports  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This season I forgot to order a new boom for my larger sails- had to borrow one….you’ll have seen Duotone on the ACX and AC-0 cups until now.
      New boom has now arrived and I’ve just finished an un-boxing and set up tips video for it… coming out soon! 🤙
