Glad you like The Cal. It really caters to people from Hawaii as well. Since gambling is not legal in Hawaii, we love coming to Vegas. If you didn't know, Vegas is often called the 9th Island. I'm glad you got to experience the "Aloha Spirit" from the staff.
Thanks for the video. We have been staying at the Cal for years for our twice-a-year trips for the same reasons you mentioned. My wife also ate Oxtail soup growing up in the Philippines. Keep up the great work. Mark & Jo from Chgo
I will be there in Las Vegas June 9. I'm living in Cambodia now but originally from Las Vegas. Yes market place and main street station great for food options. Enjoyed your video and going to Philippines after las Vegas for a week.😊
California Hotel was the first hotel I stayed in while I visited Las Vegas for the first time. I always visit the hotel when I go to Vegas, even if I stay at another hotel. I love the atmosphere at the hotel.
Always amazed by the different varieties of food especially in such amazing places like these. Thanks for yet again showing a really unique side that many reviews don’t show ❤
❤️ The Cal and the Island groove they have there. Market Street is my go-to spot for Prime Rib in town. 20 bucks and you get Cherries Jubilee for dessert. I've never had the Oxtail but probably will sometime now. Thanks for trying it!
For blackjack, downtown Las Vegas, the place to play is the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino as they always have at least one table with a $1 minimum bet. They also have a good Nathan's Fanous Hotdog and a PBR for just $2. That is a hot dog and a beer for just $2.
You can also get the Oxtail soup from the Chinese restaurant in the Fremont hotel. It is always available for those who are willing to walk over from the California hotel.
The Oxtail soup is made in a centralized kitchen and you can get the soup as soon as the restaurant opens. This is a hidden secret for all those who can’t wait till midnight.
We tried the oxtail soup at the Fremont Lanai Express and unfortunately our group found that it doesn’t compare to Market Street Cafe’s oxtail soup. There was no ginger accompanying the cilantro and we felt that the broth was not as flavorful. However, everyone has their own taste so people should give both versions a try.
I am not a subscriber to your channel yet. Just wanted to add my two cents because we just returned home in Hawaii on Jun. 4, 2024. We stayed at The Cal for four nights. I'm saddened to say we were really disappointed with the food quality for breakfast at the Market Street Cafe and dinner at the Noodle House. At Market Street Cafe the pancakes were dry and hard so we sent it back and what came back was the same thing? My hamburger in the Loco Moco was very, very well done, dry, and hard to chew. Noodle House we ordered appetizers of Edamame which appeared to be reheated mixed with fresh cooked. Some bean pods were fresh and bright and alot of the other pods were very over cooked, discolored, and mushy. The main dish was the Oxtail Fried Rice and the meat was cool and a little greasy and the rice seemed like it sat under heating lamps because it was dry and some was crunchy. I hope other people did not experience the same situation but unfortunately we were really saddened by this experience of which I reflected our opinon in their survey. To make matters worse, out of three elevators to get to our room, only one was working and it took quite a while during peak times. Enjoyed your video and hope you had a better experience than we did. Aloha!!!!
I'm so sorry to hear about your experience! I didn't have the opportunity to try any other restaurants or food except the oxtail soup. I've heard the prime rib at Market Street is good and would like to try that! I think it's always a good idea to speak to the manager when there is an issue. If they aren't aware, they can't fix the situation. Sometimes they aren't notified when items are sent back😊How was your room? Hopefully that was ok!
Sam's Town while nice is in its own world. I would say California which gives you the option of walking next door to Main Street Casino and the Fremont Street Experience a block or so down. Main Street also has a buffet😊
No, that's not what I'm doing. California Hotel & Casino has many Hawaiian influences and it is one of its many charming points. I'm sharing that in this video.

Does it taste the same? Is it served earlier?

I was surprised tbh!
Which do you Recommend the California hotel or Sam's Town?

FREEMONT lani deli has simpler cheaper ox tail soup
Oh I'll have to try that!
Prefer the Oxtail Soup at Fremont Lanai. Tastes better than Market St. Try it.
Ohhhh thanks for the tip! I'll have to give it a try!
I disagree, MSC’s version is far superior and far more traditional.
Okayyy! Looks like I'll have to try the other too just to see!@@TRMV
@@InandOutofVegas they’re both good, but the Cal’s version is better and more authentic in my opinion.
True it was very good but overpriced 🤯
It was a little pricey 😊
I enjoy your videos and the California Hotel but the ox-tail soup is not worth the hype.
Thank you so much for watching! I'll have to try other spots for Oxtail Soup! Any suggestions on your favorites?
Your video is trying to compare Hawaii to Vegas. There is no comparison. Food in Hawaii Is the best by a landslide.
No, that's not what I'm doing. California Hotel & Casino has many Hawaiian influences and it is one of its many charming points. I'm sharing that in this video.
Oxtail soup is over rated. It’s salty
