Did the job today on my 2005 CTS and everything went well ! Thank You ! Alot of other videos were telling you to take the top manifold off which made me hesitant. Saw your video yesterday and decided to tackle it your way ! Much more easier !!
my 2012 cadillac cts premium is having engine overheating problems, the radiator fan is working, so I think the thermostat is the problem. When i sit still for more than 3 minutes, the A/C starts getting warmer and the engine temp starts rising. As long as I keep driving at least 30 mph, the wind cools the engine enough for cool A/C.. I guess im gonna throw 6$ at it for a new thermostat, and maybe try replacing it myself or see how much labor would cost. Nice video, helped me see what im getting into.
Interesting alternate way to replace the thermostat. Factory Instructions tell you to remove the intake plenum and intake lower manifold off together as an assembly. Curious how long it took you to do the job the way that you did? I'm wondering if doing it your way may save time versus the factory recommended way?
Thanks for the video, good stuff.........also glad I watched because I got just the thermostat, didn't know a new housing would be needed as well haha. Is the engine coolant temp sensor in that general area? I have to replace that as well
I have a 2010 cts a light pops up saying “engine hot Ac off” looked it up says to changed the thermostat, has anyone gone thru the same thing? Or had a P0128 code pop up?
i wish all replacement videos were this good, thanks a million
Thanks to the music, my neighbors think I'm watching porn 😂😂😂

Same here. Wasted an afternoon to just put everything back together🤬🤬

How long did it take you to remove the thermostat. Just a good estimate, so I have an idea of what to expect
This job took me approximately 5 hrs.
I have a 2006 Cadillac that's a 3.6L and has a V6 Engine. Will this work for it?
Yes it will, thanks for viewing.
Good video I'ma do mines today 07 cts 2.8L
Very helpful
Where did you unplug that hose from that came off with the thermostat housing
From the reservoir tank.
Why does the thermostat housing need to be replaced too??
Will this work on a 2008 Cadillac STS 3.6?
You can get to it without removing all the cowling and wipers. Tight but can be done.
I have a 2008 CTS with the base engine 3.6 - would this be the same procedure?
Yes it is.
@@savirs17 I appreciate it!
@@jimkoch1040 If you've done this already, then you discovered that no, it is not the same procedure!

I never cheeked the code but I knew it had to be the thermostat.
All these 3.6 videos! Where are the V owners on TH-cam???
If anyone thinks this is hard to do try replacing the lower part of thermostat housing. The part where the heater hoses connect. OH MAN.
Mine has 4 bolts
Where was the fourth bolt and what year do you have
@@Moneymaking_SPG my bad there is only 3. I took out a bolt to the bottom housing by accident
So did 4th bolt have anything to do with it?
@@Moneymaking_SPG i meant to say there's only 3 bolts not 4
Didn’t even have to take the intake manifold off
Have to take 1/2 the f+++ing car apart.
No easy jobs on these cars but I love STS.
