      Cheers Richard, the Mournes are a wee bit different in character and further away than the Antrim Hills but well worth visiting time and again as they always provide a great experience :-)

    Hi Gerry, great videos. I'm planning a wild camp (tent) in the coming days. Is there a spot in the mourne region you would recommend?

    • @gerrymcveigh
      @gerrymcveigh  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Barry, there are so many places you could camp and I suppose the weather would play a part in high or low. Low - could be looking at Lough Shannagh or where the Kilkeel River enters Ben Crom Resevoir. Also along the wall from Meelmore Lodge towards Fofanny Reservoir looks like would have some suitable spots. Higher - along the wall from Hare's Gap to Slieve Commedagh has some cool spots that are level and with good ground. I have also camped on the summit of Slieve Commedagh next to the wall and on the summit of Chimney Rock. Slieve Binnian and Slieve Bernagh seem to be popular for camping though haven't myself yet. Have always fancied a camp on the summit of Slieve Meelmore but pretty much any of the summits would be suitable if the weather was okay. I did have to retreat with a damaged tent one New Years eve at 1am due to the wind :-)

    Gerry, another classic from you mate. That was urging me to say all the way. You captured some of the greatness of the outdoors in your own inimitable style. No fork?....Well our fingers are very useful. Just the job and the Ben Crom Bivvy. Spectacular view. Thanks for sharing my friend. Inspiring. All the best. Mark. P.S what was the camera?

    • @gerrymcveigh
      @gerrymcveigh  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Mark, fingers are so useful when caught short, just as are toilets ;-) I am lucky to be so close to these great mountains and probably do not visit often enough. I mainly use a DSLR i have had for a few years (no good with pics so have to use it for something) and do a bit of time lapse with a gopro. Cheers gerry :-)

      gerry mcveigh A pleasure. Yeah there are some useful things we can call upon. The place in which you live is glorious...I want to and will visit your part of the world one day. The old DSLR still working fine it appears. If it's not broken why fix it? No reason. Have a great week Gerry. All the best and happy exploring. Mark.

      Derrick - I mainly shop online at some of the discount sites like Sports Pursuit or Private Sports Shop which are free to join and have different brands every day - though may have to be patient to get something you like but with 50%+ savings it is worth it :-)
