    thx, good video. Both frost-free sillcocks that I have installed come with a wedge shaped washer/shim with screw holes that is slid between the faucet and outdoor siding to ensure the proper angle for drainage.

    Thank you. I know nothing about this. I am just glad about these shark bite things. Didn’t want to call a plumber.

    For a little added protection, you can put some pipe tread sealant on that Teflon tape.

    Nice when you can get to the the waterpipes on the inside of the house. What if you can not get to them. Without cutting holes in the sheet rock to get to them. Can they still be replaced?

    I've had nothing but problems since a contractor (why a contractor is using sharkbites I have no clue - def won't hire him again for this type of work) used sharkbite fittings to re-plumb and re-connect a frost free hosebib on my house. The flow has reduced so much that I can't even run a sprinkler.

    At 1:18 can you use PEX instead of copper to make the connection?

    Do you like/advise sharkbite silcock frost proof products?

    You didn't need to seal where you put the pipe into the sharkbite fitting? I need to look up this magical fitting.

      Do yourself a favor and stay away from shark bites.
      Not that terrible if it’s in a unfinished basement, but I don’t trust them.

      I've used sharkbites for indoor and outdoor fixtures/plumbing with no problems. From what I've seen and heard, most people's problems come from not following the sharkbite's instructions or not getting a proper sized unit to begin with or improper measurement, etc. (handyman for over 40 years who hates welding/soldering, especially in tight places)

    I just did this project at home but i have a bit of a leak from the siphon part of the tap ONLY when you turn it on for like a second... perhaps it is letting air out or I didn't tighten it enough (it seems pretty tight to me)... any ideas?

    • @logtec1977
      @logtec1977 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      bigmikey2323 that is normal, it's the residual water draining out of the frost free.

    That does not by any stretch make any sense by tipping the silcock 5 degrees down stop air from entering. It allows water to flow where needed so it doesn't freeze.

    Step 1: Never use shark bite fittings

  • @retiredhappy466
    @retiredhappy466 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Save your money on Shark-Bite fittings. Get a propane torch and do the job the right way.

  • @willy2192

    There is no reason to use a shark bite fitting in that situation

      What if you don’t want to solder?

    • @Thedrummersalmanac
      @Thedrummersalmanac 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      $6 for a shark bite fitting... vs. at least $30 for a torch and solder... Plus easy to remove later if there's a problem.

      Most would sweat on a 1/2" female pipe thread to sweat fitting to eliminate need for sharkbite and still be serviceable.
