I guess you can use a bamboo steamer - it will do the same job... just heat/boil water in a wok and put the bamboo steamer over it - advantage on the steamer she had is that you can stack on a bamboo steamer so you can steam loads in one go... hope that helps you out...
U should have dry roasted the leaves they were cracking.also use ginger garlic paste along with your green paste and marinate the fish basa with little salt.add less salt in the sauce then..and keep for fifteen minutes to absorb before steaming.
