    A lot of the original crash sounds are 3 zone like rides... bell bow and edge, the demo video (while Ralph's playing is always a huge pleasure to watch) showing crashes having bell sounds would be something not many modules have.

    • @steevidrums
      @steevidrums ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ed Yep! Also, if you have Yamaha cymbals, you'll only need one of those inputs for each cymbal to get 3 zones on each.

    This is definitely not an easy module in my opinion, but when you get the trigger settings right and find a set of samples that you like, it really starts to shine. The sound quality competes with modules much more expensive.

      what is not easy about it?

    • @ollikalmari
      @ollikalmari 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@demonicsweaters I have struggled a bit with latency/glitching issues which required me to open up the module and replace the built-in SD card, and I haven't been able to get entirely rid of them with VST samples even after a lot of tweaking. I also have some problems with head/rim cross-talk settings when using side-mounted triggers. All this is kind of advanced e-drum stuff, so not really for beginners.

    Thanks for the nice video! Question: Did you have to use any of those 'Zourman Drums' conversion modules to use the Roland CY-15R or VH-11 cymbal pads with the 2Box Drumit3? I'm looking to buy a Roland VH-13 hihat pad in conjunction with a 2Box Drumit3 or 5. If I understand correctly, all Roland pads should work with the 2Box Drumit 5 MKII? But if you have the original Drumit 5 or a Drumit 3, you need those Zourman conversion modules? Thanks if any! :)

      Hey Jasper, the Drumit3 & Drumit5 MK2 do not need the Zourmans for Roland compatibility. You can get in touch through service@drum-tec.de for further info if you like. Kind regards!

    Thanks for demoing the expressiveness of each part! 2 box takes my vote - add some Steven Slate kit parts and you're set.
    I'm always interested in how much detail are in the toms as this is what manufacturers skimp on and not all of us are straight ahead K-S players: 'TH-cam drumming' 😂isn't too useful for gauging how these kits might sound in an actual recording.
    IMHO after years of looking the 2Box sounds far better, less compressed, more rounded EQ and far more natural than Rolands (although I currently have a TD25… but not for long!).
    Q: Are we able to mute-on and off the kick yet? Do the toms, or the hihat get repetitive if playing half open? Are there any snares-off patches? Does the HH (VH11/12) drop notes like the Roland's tend to (even when set up well)?

      Based on a discussion on vdrums.com, it seems that some units still come with a bad SD card and I suspect I have one of those. It works mostly fine but stutters occasionally. I'm going to try the "card mod" with another SD card to see if it makes a difference. It's one of the caveats of this module that the card may have to be changed and great care must be taken when selecting the new card.

    • @martinm2921
      @martinm2921 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ollikalmari yea exactly what mine was doing too. I had a bad one. I even had a local music shop replace the SD card (new card was sent to me by 2BOX headquarters directly). When I got my module back, half the inputs no longer worked and the screen no longer functioned. so, basically was a 800 dollar paper weight. Unfortunately, the music store wouldn't claim responsibility nor the music store i bought it from. It was a real unfortunate situation. I REALLLLY like 2box products but, this series of events has made me so wary wanting to replace it with another 2box module.

    Is there a maximum memory load per kit on drumit 3 and 5 ?
    (For exemple Alesis strike pro has a maximum load of 200Mb per kit so if you have 50Mb multi sample for each element , you can load only 4 elements to make a kit, is there this limitation with drumit 3 or 5 ?)

    Can anybody explain how many 2box modules are there, what are the differences, what's the flagship? I guess 2box don't know either! 😁

    • @JasonWelchMusic
      @JasonWelchMusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2Box 5 came first.
      2Box Drummit 3 came second.
      2Box Drummit 5 MK11 came out third and is currently the flagship.
      I own the drummit 3. It triggers like a dream with my A2E conversion. I use the Jobeky internal side triggers with toms. I use the 4 post with my snare.
      For kick I use a UFO trigger.

      @@JasonWelchMusic Exactly, thank you Jason!

    • @steevidrums
      @steevidrums 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The differences between them are quite small. Basically, the differences between the original drumit5 and the drumit5 mk II is the trigger interface and the memory. If you have the SD card expander modification on the original drumit5 it's only the trigger interface. Most notably, the MK2 now fully works with Yamaha (3 zones on toms, snare and cymbals off one cable) and Roland style pads cymbals and hihats.
      Zurmman drums makes a box so you can use Roland Hats/Ride cymbals for the original Drumit5.
      The differences between the drumit3 and 5 mk 2 is 2 more outputs, internal memory (SD card slot) and channel preview buttons.
      But you can mod the drumit3 to have an SD card slot too, so it's subtle.
      Hope this helps.
