For those who don't know, Ramadan is a month in Islamic Calendar where Muslims fast the whole month. It's not only about fasting, refraining from cursing someone, avoiding bad words etc.
Someone might ask what's the wisdom behind this? There are quite many. But the first one that comes to my mind that being grateful for what you have. Not every people have the luxury to eat 3 times or more. So being grateful for the food we have. And to understand the suffering that the poor people go through. So that we can be kind and charitable to them.

True pain of poverty can also be felt when you start fasting. So the idea is you are not only fasting but you remain honest, you do not hate anyone and you only focus on good deeds and your spiritual development.

Ramadan is not only about fasting. It's also about keeping yourself away from all the bad things such as hate, abuse, obscenity, fighting, lust, and all kinds of bad deeds. If you want to learn more about Ramadan, you should learn from an Islamic scholar. Plus, if you really want to experience fasting during Ramadan, then make sure to take a meal before sunrise (Suhur).

Fasting is not as easy as it seems because in this month of Ramadan you have to refrain from bad deeds, do good deeds, pray 5 times a day, don't tell lies, spend some money for helping poor, don't watch obscene pictures, videos, dont speak bad words. this month is the month of changing oneself, these things are done to please Allah and obey Allah's rules

21:07 Sunnah refers to the teachings of our Prophet ( peace be upon him). He used to break his fast with dates so it's a Sunnah too. That's why we break our fast with dates to follow his teachings. And it's very rational thing to do, after a long day of fasting, since dates are very high in glucose and fibre and gives you an instant energy boost.

Steve, first of all, that panjabi really suits you. Secondly thank you so much for showing so much respect for our culture, people and country in general. Now, coming to ramjan or Ramadan as you said, you are suppose to eat before sun rise. It is called seheri and you can not eat anything or even drink a drop of water till sunset. At sunset you have iftar. But this is the easy part. The hard part is to control your urges and your body. During roja, one is not suppose to use any of their sense for any type of bad thing, so restraining yourself from speaking, watching or even talking something bad or something that may be hurtful to someone. The fasting is hard for the first two or three days, then the body gets adjusted. Now, some fun facts. It has been my life long ambition to lose some weight, during ramadhan, but you will always end up gaining more, thanks to the delicious iftars. 😂😂😂
For me the most beautiful aspect of Ramjan is the equality of the month. Not all of us is privileged enough to have a full meal three times a day. So, during the fasting hours, you can feel that pain of wanting to eat but not being able to. At least theoretically that is the teaching. But what I am taking about is something else. If you are lucky enough to take a stroll in Dhaka city during the iftar time, you will see irrespective of every biases, even religion, everybody is eating, most of the time in groups. May be their food is different, may be the place where they are having food is different, but all of them are essentially doing the same thing, eating food and being thankful. It is such a beautiful thing to see.
I will end with a warning. Avoid visiting new market during day time in Ramajan, specially if you have to get back to somewhere before iftar. The traffic gets crazy. I remember once I sat three hour straight in-front of the parliament house. So, do avoid it if you can.

Want to tell you about our culture, it’s a good gesture here that if someone invites you then you should bring some gifts for them, it could be any food or dress or souvenirs. The shop keepers hosted you with the highest, usually we don’t eat biriyani daily cause it’s expensive, you should have buy some iftar or fruits for them, hopefully next time, see you

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, during which Muslims around the world fast from dawn until sunset. It is considered one of the Five Pillars of Islam, emphasizing fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. Fasting during Ramadan involves abstaining from food, drink, smoking, and marital relations during daylight hours, while also focusing on spiritual growth, self-discipline, and acts of charity. The end of Ramadan is marked by the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a festival that involves feasting and giving to charity.

Ramadan is consisted of mainly 2 things. Fasting for the fear and love of Allah and then The Quran. Because it's the month Quran was revealed. Then there are prayers at night, helping the people, feeding others, coming close to Allah. Siam (fasting) is the only deed nobody sees it but Allah. You can eat or drink in private no one will see you but Allah. So fasting is for the fear and love of Allah.
I live in this area. Businessmen brothers and the customers all eat the iftar together every day. Proud of those shop keepers.

*Hey Bangladesh 🇧🇩. You truly define hospitality.*
A foreigner bargains for a product, and ends up being treated to the most premium food by the shopkeeper, probably spending more on the buyer than the buyer did on the shop. Simply unreal 👏👏👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Side note to @stevelooong: In Bangladesh, there are indeed proper fixed price shops. If a shop displays a fixed price, it means the price is fixed and non-negotiable. Samuel was just being polite by letting you bargain, as he didn't want to confuse you with a language barrier. He realised you wouldn't believe him, so he allowed you to negotiate.

Actually brother, BDT 3800 was a fair price. even I went there , I had to pay no less than BDT 3800. Pants are always priced separately, brother. I don't think at that price they can give us pants.

You're beautiful Steve. May Allah bless you and guide you to Islam and give you admittance to Eternal Paradise. Ameen.
BTW, your first day is the most difficult as your body is experiencing radical change that it hasn't seen in the last 11 months. But as you fast more days into Ramadan, it gets much easier.
Shop owner brothers were also nice. May Allah bless them.
