You can't put this man on the spot ! He's a musical magician, he can pull a song out of thin air ! And he's not afraid to admit " this is terrible ' ! 10 out of 10 for effort though.
My son was born a month ago from this show. I was driving Bruce for this show. It was so amazing to stand next to the stage. He said he loved the venue. When we were driving and he brainstormed what song to play. I tried so hard to think of a song but couldn’t for the life of me. This show was awesome and so was everyone involved.

I think Bruce Springsteen didn't take that special approach to the song all too serious himself. Nor should anyone else. I think it was mostly done for the fun of it!
I love that at 3:42 he says, "this is terrible." so comfortable is he in his own skin now (he'd have NEVER said something like that 20 or even 10 years earlier) that he can say that. It IS terrible except, it really ISN"T because it's like family.
Still after discovering this video, I'm playing this to the hilt. Its got to be favorite. I am even incorporating it in my lifestyle. It's great to keep watching this.

Some people can cover a song..and some people can't. The first mistake is trying to Springsteenize a song not meant to be messed with. I like that Bruce wanted to reminisce a little with a classic novelty song of my childhood & his but doing so he walks a tightrope of parody and ridicule. As great as Bruce can be -- he's no Bobby Boris Pickett. The song needs to be "acted" out and Bruce can't act. I do like the reggae-brass arrangement -- now that was different, and I thought it was creative. Bruce says "now that's terrible." No, Bruce, you and the backup singers have no energy and are terrible. The brass men -- they "get it." The crowd thinks this is all great. What kind of guitar playing/strumming is that Bruce? Is the guitar even plugged in?
