- Finally time for something different! I wanted to do a multi instrument video for a very long time, and was just waiting for the right song (and some gear) to come along.
I figured the song by ear (as I always do) so some parts are definitely incorrect... Besides, guitar is really not my main instrument.
All in all this took about two weeks to record and produce. - เพลง
Perfect song to play, amazing song to sing. You're great, man.
You helped me learn this on guitar - you rule! great cover!
Hey man, great cover. Love this song and saw it when searching it up.
You've captured all the details and the essence of the song! Awesome!!! 😄
Great work. Very authentic sounding.
drums played beautifully ...
As a fan of all things Steven Wilson, I've watched a lot of covers, and with few exceptions have come away mightily disappointed.
Quite simply, your cover blew me away. You were faithful and respectful to the original while giving it your own spin, and your video production is excellent. Bravo! Keep up the great work!
That's excellent. I love your cover and it sounds exactly like the Blackfield original.
Fantastic stuff. Very well done mate. ;)
Willie
Thank you very much, it's extremely appreciated!
Appreciate it mate' ....great, fun work sir!
I've just signed in to give a thumbs up. I liked it that much ^^
Lovely cover. Bravo!
Je suis moi meme multi instrumentiste et j'ai vu plusieurs videos de musiciens multi mais tabarnac ! j'ai jamais entendu avec une telle qualité comme la tienne ! du talent a l'état pur, génial.
Great job man! greetings from Colombia
Excelent ! congrats
very nice job
omg amazing, drunk middle of the night just amazing
very nice job!
This is awesome!! :D
Je suis québécois, en fait! ;-) Un très gros merci beaucoup pour ton commentaire!
kudos - this is great! :D
@Alikinghog Thank you very much! I understand your point about "multi-instrument" vs "one-man band" by reading your comments on other videos and watching your own videos (very nice Kings Of Convenience cover!) You don't need that much equipment, if you can live with a little less sound quality; a webcam and a decent microphone could do. As soon as each part is recorded, the mix is up to audio and video editing software.
Bravo ! Beau cover, super son!
You are so talented, I'm amazed.
Je viens de remarquer que tu es Français. En plus d'être talentueux tu as un accent anglais agréable à entendre. Je ne vois pas comment tu pourrais t'approcher encore plus de la perfection :).
Great job! You did outstanding on all of the instruments and voices!
Excellent cover and multi-quality, what keyboard do you use it sounds great
I must say, that I'm really positively suprised by quality of this video and your performance.
There aren't many covers which are executed so well. :)
Awesome, thanks for the response man! I don't know if you have any resources available, but did you use any specific videos to learn how to make it all blend so well? It looks like a top notch production! I'd love to learn how to do that as well!
D-chord on the 5th and 7th fret, yes, with minor variations. In tablature form it's...
000565
000560
000787
000788
... and the G chord. That's pretty much the entire song. ;-)
sin palabras
niceeeeeeeeee
For this one I used Sony Vegas Pro 10.
MP3 link, please?
Oh my freaking god. This is amazing.
fuck yea!!! congratulations!!!!
the initial guitar intro, thats a D-chord shape right? played on the 5th fret?
As a trained musician with over 40 yrs of experience you did a good job and should continue as you have the ability. Some extra lessons wouldnt hurt
Beautiful cover! Greetings from India.
What software do you use to make the multi video screening with diff instruments and such ?
Thanx for the info, hope to hear more covers and keep PROG alive tired of most of the crappy generic music
Man that's a great great job. I don't think I have ever seen a better cover of anything, and my one guy. Dude. Very cool.
What did you use as a video editor?
what are the guitar tabs tho i don't really mind if they're wrong
+sofia khadra In tablature form it's...
000565
000787
000560
000788
... and the G chord. That's pretty much the entire song.
@ProgPena Thank you very much for your comment! The keyboard I use is an old Panasonic SX-KC600 but I don't use its built-in sounds; it's connected to my computer via MIDI and I trigger soft synths with it (Spectrasonics Trilogy for bass, and Edirol Orchestral for the strings and flute).
Hey man I always wondered how do you do to synchronize all the instruments together if you are recording at different times? How do you exactly make sure that you are not playing a bit faster or going out of rhythm in other parts? I'll wait for your answer Thanks!
He'd be using a metronome/click track I think.
Marcus Davidson I replied to Frank Figuero in private, but yes I'm using a click track.
Fairlight // Sylvain Martel How did you Record this with the different tracks cameras and instruments can you make a video on it!!!
Thanks a big lot! I think my chords are correct, but be aware that the picking on the acoustic intro is not; it should be played much more aggressively (I don't know how to describe it) but my guitar arm is way too weak. :-P
NOICE!
Wow, very nicely done:-) Just one thing: I would prefer a real flute at the end of the song;-)
I say yeah yeah, just very professional work ;thank you I love it
You said ,read the music ,back to the notes ;you're wright
Join me in France on www.Tablanote.com for a New Guitar Vision ; Lets say C3 or C8 (A string ) for exemple to speak about the placement of the note on the guitar
Pretty fantastic cover. My only suggestion is to put a bit more work into the vocal parts. All of the music was fantastic, but you were badly out of tune in certain spots, especially with the harmonic tracks of the song.
You really aren't a bad singer, and with Steven's voice not being the epitome of good vocal quality, it's not hard to emulate the guy, so you didn't do bad. I'd just say next time take a couple more takes and really focus on whether your vocals are in tune with each other.
