I have had this truck for over one year, and it's my favorite r/c truck EVER. BUT... I upgraded to steel gears for the 3-speed and clutchbell from a company called GTB Racing. I also got GTB's aluminum chain-gear mount. This stuff made the truck even better. I also switched to ProLine dual-stage shocks, JConcepts Golden Year Tires, and even added a rear sway bar from Crawford Performance Engineering. Nitro rules!
hey dude! this is great info and I hope people get to read this comment. I'm aware of the metal gear upgrade and you're right. Chances are this truck will eventually get the metal upgrades too..
@@hybrid32494 Thanks man. Big problem with the stock Kyosho gears is they wear out on the insides very quickly. This causes tiny pieces of plastic to get thrown all around inside the three-speed transmission. And that messes up all kinds of things. The next thing that happens is the gears lose their ability to shift into the next gear. The GTB Racing steel gears solved this problem and I've had zero-problems with them. I really hope Kyosho will fix this problem. My Mad Crusher from three years ago had the same problem.

Love the Kyosho content. I recently got my old FW-06 running for the first time in years, such a great platform. Only issue is getting parts considering it’s almost 10 years old.

I had the original truck in the 90s when it came out. Had nothing but issues after issues. But that truck was what git my into nitro and gas. I wish i still had that truck

Sweet nice to see this video! Im having no luck finding any info anywhere. I want to put a dynamite .26 in a Revo. The crankshaft is way too long and they dont make the old version anymore. Where can I find a crankshaft? Which Bell housing kit do I need for this upgrade? Thanks again D. I really appreciate your dedication and heart for the nitros.

This truck is a beast. The only issue I have been seeing or hearing about is the transmission problems it has! Apparently other then that it's supposed to be a good nitro.

I’ve got the VE. I love it but it is a bit fragile in some areas. The best thing you can do is get the servo on axle mount from 4th dimension RC. Game changer for the handling on these beasts
I love the Sonic Tronics glow ignitor. It's the only brand I use now. Gotta shout out thebug 404 for showing them off.

hey my dude! Sorry for the late comment response. The tires on this model are very well glued and have nice memory style foam on the inside(feels like that to me at least).

Well, cool vid, bro...But let me say some things about this truck.
Round about 13 or 14 years ago, I bought my first nitro monster truck...In the end there were only three models left:
- Kyosho Mad Force (with the same stupid chassis design, like this one)
- HPI Savage
- Thunder Tiger MTA4
I bougth the Thunder Tiger.
Why I did not buy the Kyosho mt:
The chassis design. Open Gearbox, open chain...If you drive this truck in dirt, the gearbox will thank you....not.
Steering rods on the bottom of the cahssis....One big stone or something like this, and you have to repair something.
The Body looks awesome, don´t get me wrong in this case...The front lights, the lightbar on top...awesome..
The Wheels: Awesome...
But the rest: nope.
At least there were the Savage and the MTA4....I bought the MTA, because this car has a reverse gear...Yes, it can drive backwards...
And yes, it is faster than the Kyosho one...
This is just my opinion about the Kyosho mt...I hope, that you will never have a damaged gearbox, because of dirt...

IT's true the first gear will likely need a new one way bearing, but once it's installed and covered by warranty you should have no issues.

They included the break in ring for the original KE-25's, as well. But I'm surprised to see it back for the SP2. What they were trying to avoid is people getting finnicky with the needles on the carb before the first start but with the new generation carb it shouldn't be as big of an issue! Im still trying to figure out whether the needles degrade over time or if the tune just drifts that badly. But 9 years and 10 gallons later my GT2 RaceSpec is still hitting that 2 SPEED BABY
With this model it should be noted that the kyosho stock glow plugs suck. after you're done breaking it in I would highly recommend an #6 OS glow plug or hot glow plug by os. Also be prepared to possibly have to go in and lube up the needle bearings and the cam fingers in the three-speed transmission. Some guy by the name of Turok or something like that on TH-cam did a video where he uses white lithium grease to lube up and clean out the needle bearings finally allowing him to go into third gear
These do 60 mph stratout of the box. Imagine with some extras what could be achieved. Yeh and i agree lets make nitro great again. Nice looking truck but its been around a while now ,i reckon Kyosho needs a new body shell for this truck. Maybe something along the lines of an older late 1960's to 1979 American Pick Up truck. Nothing ridiculous like grave digger or son of a digger. Just a clean design in a nice colour . LETS MAKE NITRO GREAT AGAIN 👌👍💪💪
I have heard so many bad things on the trans but I hope it is not true. I love the look of this truck.
hey my dude! how you doing!! Yes some of the early production versions when this truck came out had slipping one-way bearings installed on the first gear. Kyosho would honor their warranty and mail you replacements to free if that was the case. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with the newer models being sold.

I have to ask why when you pull start the engine do you jerk the cord a couple times.
Hey bro! that is a verged questions and I'm glad you pointed it out. I will do a full video on the most effective Pullstart methods. I've been doing those Short quick tugs follower by one longer pull for a very long time, it was a method my Hobby Store told me to use back in 1999. It appears to be the most effective method because form what I've seen, not sure the reaosn and I'll look into that more..

You making it hard for me not to just order the USA 1, I have almost $500 in store credit with Amain, I was going to use it for Losi 5t stuff (RX Battery, Tuned Pipe, Pre filters, Futaba RX) but I have always liked the USA 1 my cousins had the original released in 1990 and I always wanted one. It's one of the very few (Real) Monster Trucks on the market, unlike a Savage or TMaxx which are just called Monster Trucks

Doesn anyone recall a yellow and red rc nitro monster from the early 2000s? I think it was made by ct racing or ofna. It may have said fun factory or something on the body. Now that I'm a adult I want it but have no idea where I used to see it. Any help would be greatly appreciated 👍
Hey buddy, id be happy to help you out with the name. You’re refering to the CEN Fun Factor nitro 1/10 truck. It wss a budget low end model and very few still exist today. Id really recomend a new nitro from any of the links in this vid, particularly a traxxas or this kyosho. Parts support is what you want, trust me. Thanks!

Only one thing to do- Get both!
Step 1. is to INSTALL the break-in ring so you should not find it already installed over the carb.
Good point! To be honest though I don’t see a need for a breaking ring at all, the motor temperatures were very cool without the break in ring. I tested it on a separate motor like this also at one time. An updated video on this truck will be out soon as well, we had ourselves a little bit of a right away.

I was lucky that a viewer sent me this one for review during a time period while these trucks were Sold Out. Eventually when they got more stock I Purchased one also. Hey buddy, thanks for checking out this video. I really appreciate it. This truck does not have reverse. It is Forward only. Most modern nitro cars no longer come with reverse and it is actually quite useless believe it or not in practice.

pretty much yes. But I will tell you there have been some drivetrain upgrades to this model including tougher drivetrain and beefier axles. I pointed that out in earlier videos a while back. Plus you cannot get a mad crusher anymore, this is the only one there is.
