    I started driving my grandpa’s F-30 when I was 8 or so pulling a 15’ straight disc. Sure does bring back memories.

    Disked alot of fields, mowed alot of hay and pulled alot of stumps with Dads. Dont know how I ever hand cranked that thing when I was a kid.
    They had torque to spare. Ours had the two fuel tanks. One for gas and one for kerosene. Our exhaust manifold had the lever to switch over for different fuels.
    Ours also had two head lights. About 14in across with cut glass lenses. I have never seen another pair of lights like them.
    Dad still had the hose that you could use to pump up tires. You would take out a spark plug, screw it in and start the engine. Slow but it worked.
    If you dont know, you have a hand brake on each side for each wheel.
    You will notice a cable running down the sides ofbthe tractor from front to back. These were attached to the steering and brakes. As you turned the wheel it applied the brakes to the inside wheel. You had to be careful because turn to sharply to fast and that nose will whip around faster than you can control.
    I always used that nipple on top of the steering gear as a site to keep it straight down the field.
    You could really get to bouncing in that seat too.
    Great memories.

    If given the choice of a trip to Disneyworld or a couple of days to walk around and look at your collection of stuff, I'd take the latter every time.

    I just found my great grandfather's 1939 F30 in a shed near my home and bought it from the folks who got it when he died and the farm stuff was auctioned off in 1971...it needs tires and a manifold other than that in relatively good condition.. great grandfather bought it new in 1939 serial number 29343...OK what size are the rear tires on the one in the video?

    just remember to ALWAYS be careful on hills with narrow fronts because those are at risk of tipping after all

    I've never seen balloon mohawk tires as big as the fronts on this tractor. How old are they?

    • @nebraskakirk
      @nebraskakirk  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are roughly 5-7 years old.

    • @bwilliams463
      @bwilliams463 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nebraskakirk I didn't realize any company was still making mohawks, even that recently. They look like they'd absorb a lot of bumps and humps.

    • @nebraskakirk
      @nebraskakirk  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't remember offhand what brand they are, I am not familiar with mohawks.

    • @bwilliams463
      @bwilliams463 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nebraskakirk It's just a term for ag tires that have a single ridge 'tread' on them, like unto a mohawk haircut. My elderly neighbor had a Jubilee Ford with mohawk fronts, but his was a Standard.
