I never ever thought before the season started, that on Feb 2nd, we are wishing for enough wins to make the big 10 tournament. This season has been a straight up catastrophe, potentially , 3 crash and burn seasons in a row. Each getting worse and worse.
Also, as I've stated before... it was an epic fail, not get a true, big man in the portal. We needed him today more than ever. Please start looking now, Pike.
The youngsters are getting so close to putting it all together, fighting thru all kinds of diversity in the best Conference in CBB. Beside, the few teams at the top, everyone is bunched up and equally matched. Just get Dylan healthy, get into the Conference Tournement and the way they're they're improving, no one wants to play them! Let's roll baby!
Definitely looked like a typical Pike team of years past, really good defense/offensively challenged formula. Unfortunately this team still hasn't been able to establish any consistency or identity other than a showcase for 2 NBA lottery picks. At this point bad luck seems to be playing a larger role in developing chemistry and, questionable transfers aside, Pike should be given some level of pass for this.
Ohhh wait Obole is out for the year?!? ....I just saw on your vid. Ooooohhh crap. This team's done for the year. Close the curtains!!! Pick up and throw the last shovel of dirt on to the ground! THIS. TEAMS. IS. REALLY. DONE. NOW.
Ace had a rough day shooting, and so did most of the team. It's just not good enough to take down Michigan. Keep pounding nails, and maybe there's still some hope. Go RU!
Ok, I know that RU needs to set screens for Ace and teach him how to finish at the rim, but...RU was down the possible best guard in the draft, playing only freshmen in the frontcourt (that's wrong, sorry Zach Martini), Jeremiah Williams was not able to play, Acuff is about 75%...on the other hand, Michigan should have passed it to Goldin every time. Overall, :Pike did a very good job coaching during the game (although I would have liked him to say to Ace with 1:42 to go, "You are the man. We need you to win the game. Shoot the ball. We are riding your back". The players played with great effort and their overall defense was very good. It would be nice to see Harper and Ace play against Michigan in Ann Arbor...Does Harper make the difference? Will Michigan just try to get the ball inside and see if Goldin scores or assists. RU fans are being cheated out of a real interesting Big 10 season by the basketball demons.
JMike’s output offset Bailey’s for a wash. RU’s front line was challenged evident by points in paint & blocked shots. Another lesson from the FT line. RU took 21 more FG attempts.
I enjoy beating Michigan more than any other opponent. I still haven't forgiven them for the '76 Final Four! They were beatable today, and we played with the tenacity and "wanna" we've grown accustomed to seeing from Pikiell teams in the past. We just didn't have the horses. If we play like this when Harper returns, we'll win!
I am at a loss as to why Martini and Hayes were recruited when we really needed front court players. These two are so bad. It’s really hard to watch them play. Dortch, Somerville and Grant need to be retained. These three are really competing way above expectations. Love Jordan’s grit but he is awful in shot selection and passing.
Martini and Hayes were got because Pikkiel put all his money and chips on Ace and Dylan and this team had no more money! So they had to settled for the next best crappy supporting players from the transfer portal. That same logic applies for the rest of the new transfer players. Same can be said about the reason behind getting absolutely NO half-way talented center that can play .....and the reason they settled for crappy Obole, whatever his name is. And there you have the demise of RU b-ball for the 24-25 season.
You are what your record says you are. I don't care about the "almost wins". The report is Dylan has a high ankle sprain. Those typically take 6 weeks to heal. Hate to say it, but this has turned into a developmental year, IF we don't lose anyone to the portal. Pike hasn't lost the team, so hopefully we can steal a few wins here to get in the B1G tournament. Since misery loves company, look at AZ State. One 5 star and 4 4 stars on their roster and they are 12-9.
ARE YOU DELUSIONAL! this team's NOT no where close to NIT caliber talent. This team's like an advanced to the 2nd round of the conference tourney and lose on the 2nd game. And that's being optimistic, I don't think this team will be eligible to the conference tourney. they even lucky if they get there!
THIS. TEAM. SUCKS. the fact that I've not watched any single games this season with the exception of like the first game or so tells you A lot of the state of this team this season. The fall of this team this season is abysmal tragedy which will affect pikel's recruiting of too elite players at the end of this season and beyond !!!! This season will serve a excellent NEGATIVE recruitment fodder for other schools against RU. Pikkiel has really dug a very deep hole for himself from the perspective of future recruiting is concerned. Stick a fork in him , he's done as far as reaching the ceiling at RU. What a complete TRAIN WRECK when Pikkiel put alll his bets, and literally all his money, on just two one and done players without any thought of the rest of the team! And I don't plan to watch any remaining games this season cause it's pretty much over and a waste of time !
Well, if you do send 2 players to the NBA first round draft, it seems the RU portal to the NBA is pretty strong. That seems quite POSITIVE, regarding recruitment for future NBA serious players. Your post is weird. Obviously, you won't watch any more games, as you haven't watched even two or so, per your post. Good riddance Go RU
@williamtilden8211 a team not even making the NCAAs with two potential one and done on the team. what that say to future elite recruits?! says Pikkiel don't know how to handle elite players and the program is not the kind of program that has a strong supporting cast of players. It says don't come to Rutgers because your stock will fall. Without question. RU portal to the NBA is not secure not one bit. a real bad fallacy you have.
@@ignacioa3698 Bailey goes 3- 15 FG , 0 -7 3Pts. Is that Pikiell's fault? He put Bailey on the floor for 35 minutes and other than 4 FT's, got 6 pts. from Ace. That's a John Starks, good game/bad game issue, not a coaching issue. Pikiell put Ace on the big stage, and he had his moments. Are you saying Pikiell should've pulled Ace out? Had Ace hit one or two more shots, he would've been a hero. This was obviously a woulda coulda shoulda game, for all RU players and the coach.
@williamtilden8211 I was going to say the same thing. The guy hasn't watched this team play except for a few games but he's making a number of comments on a TH-cam video...that is so odd. Couple that with all of his commentary that is based on what exactly since he doesn't watch the team??? Very strange.
Could not listen to the game unfortunately, but even without Dylan or J-Will, Rutgers could've won this game in multiple ways. That's unfortunately not the case because for one thing it's typical that under Pikiell these players cannot hit their free throws as a team and are shooting the ball poorly especially by missing simple layup! We have to be better than this and such an opportunity to meet expectations of NCAA Tournament is slipping away even if we win out because it may require us to win the Big Ten Tournament before that!
JMike is such a Pikiell player. Really scrappy, knows his role, and is really improving on offense. He’s fast becoming my favorite player on the team.

Could still happen, but I am not holding my breath.
