I got this laptop when it was on sale for like 660, amd droped two 16gb sticks for 32gb in dual channel, and i put in a 1tb ssd in the open 2.5 slot, im debating on getting another one to replace my gfs ageing laptop and putting the 8gb stick from mine into it so she can use it for streaming and voice work. Should i stick with this plan or try to find another laptop thats more upgradable?
That was a nice upgrade. I see you're very tech savvy yourself. To answer your question. Better hardware is always going to perform better. But you should stick to the price range you have set. I'd recommend buying something newer for yourself and giving her your current laptop after swapping the ram. That's only if your budget allows it. A laptop with a 100 watts rtx 3060 is my recommendation. But a cheaper rtx 3050ti is worth considering on the low end. However if you rather shop on the used market. In my experience, the Lenovo legion 5 and the asus tuf line has delivered good price to performance. I like the legion 5 better. The case for this version of the tuf line of laptops has not performed well in terms of thermal management. I've owned 2, both Intel and amd. The cpu Temps are in operating range. But still high compared to other systems with the same specs.
@@supreme_tech_reviews im not really tech savvy, part of the reason i got the asus was because it was essentially plug and play with the ram and 2.5, i figured it should still be pretty relevant for at least another year or so lolor as long as i need it until i can build a desktop. Thank you for the reply and ill look into some of the newer stuff, i just want somthing i can upgrade if needed.
I see your point the asus is pretty easy to upgrade compared to something like an HP OMEN 15 or an MSI gaming laptop. I think you can definitely get another year or even more with the 1650. Also epending on the games you play. Good luck shopping around. You can also try the 1660ti. Those are a good upgrade compared to the 1650. As of September,21 It even out performs the rtx 3050/(ti) in most games apart from ray tracing.
You did the exact same thing I did. I highly recommend getting an external FHD 144hz gaming monitor, connecting via the HDMI port automatically bypasses 'Optimus'. Check out some other TH-cam videos on what it is, and how disabling it can drastically increase frame rate. I'm getting a crystal clear gaming experience with my Razer Ornata, Razer Deathadder, SteelSeries Arctis 5 (7.1 dolby CRITICAL in shooters) and LG 27" FHD 144hz 1ms response time panel.
I did some modification and now with extremeeeeee stress it reaches 76° at max but only for a few seconds and on usual gaming the temperature is 56 to 67°c
Just nvidia software. The GeForce experience to be exact. Amd drivers can be installed from the amd websites. However I'd focus on installing the GeForce experience.
When gaming on battery, I got 40 to 50 minutes of battery life . I did not perform a battery test for casual use like watching videos or typing documents.
I can purchase this laptop from a friend. I really only play dayz.. would this computer be fine for playing something like that? And its thev8gb model. I'm not a big computer guy. N 1650 sounds small to me when shopping around for other computers. Thanks ahead of time. I really just want to get on pc dayz. I bought a steamdeck awhile back and can't use that because its unsupported. So im on yo the next thing..a gaming laptop. Appreciate it.
Hey, as you saw this Laptop performs very good with dual channel ram considering the specs. However, truth is even with just 8gb ram it will play Dayz. But keep in mind, you will see an improvement in fps with 16gb dual channel ram. I'd say if the price is right it's worth it. I'm not sure what your prices are in your area/region. But I wouldn't pay more than $450usd for this model with just 8gb ram and 256gb storage (used) in 2022 As for the Steam deck, I'm still waiting for the Que 😅 I'd love to get my hands on one.
If you're using the same CPU which is the Ryzen 5 3550h processor. You're perfectly fine gaming at 90. The CPU has a maximum temperature of 105゚C you're well within range of the CPU's operating limits. This shouldn't cause any issues. However lower temperatures are usually better. It's just not very concerning.

Im thinking to upgrade this laptop once I have enough money. Also I know this is kinda stupid to ask but can it run RDR2?
Yes it definitely can.

It’s good for cooding,ps and montage?
It should handle those tasks well. Especially if you upgrade the ram to 16gb on dual channel
Does it support Hdmi 2.0 for 240hz external monitor
Yes it does support hdmi 2.0

Not bad, I have a rtx 2060 mobile with 3550h. It performs 40% better than gtx 1650.
Sounds like a decent performance increase.
What about 8gb DdR4
I think the 8gb single channel ram will limit the laptop's performance
