Facts on the helping each other! I was in hairdress school, and was probably the best at machine cuts. But i was not good at scissor cuts and this girl in my class would help me get better with scissors and learning how to section hair and use thinning shears. And in return i helped her get better with the clippers, don't be stuck up and HELP each other man. Everyone knows who is the best at certain things, you don't have to say anything or brag or push others down. Befriend people y'all have same interests, you might end up meeting some real dope people and even work with them later on.

Just started barber school myself
As a curly woman, I've learned that I can go to barbers to maintain my back and sides, but my curly top is for my hair stylist only. Barbers do not know how to shear longer curly hair.
Can you elaborate on that? Asking cause I have curly hair too. Are you saying that just dont cut it evenly?
@@gullyblanchard5750 they don't cut evenly, don't use tension while cutting, and often will use the clipper instead of shears which is a HUGE no no. Curly hair needs to be wet, combed though, and pulled taut while being cut off the stylists fingers, in sections. Shear work is a practice that has been lost on new school barbers. But if you go to a woman, or even an old school barber, they can do it. Even my sides have to be cut w clipper over comb.

@@JG_SmileSOBrightah yes I know what you’re saying, I think that really depends on the barbers you go to though. The Hispanic barbers I’ve gone to all cut my hair with shears and make sure to spray it so it’s wet before cutting. I’ve actually never seen barbers in my area not use shears unless your have really short hairs that can be cut with clippers.
