    The best thing to do is give the seeds to friends and neighbours - share the love. That's how I got my spring blooming aliums.
    Great video Laura. My fav garden are the ones around the coop and the wooden pathway.

    So pretty in your cottage garden. That’s my favorite area with the pallet walkways. Added to my list for next year. Didn’t realize these were perennials and grown from a plant instead of a bulb. I plan to let them naturalize. Won’t that be glorious. Love these every time I see them in your garden.
    Thanks much for focusing on them.

    Awesome! I need that plant-type of allium for summer blooming in my side garden which has a lot of spring flowers, but not much for summer. Also, shout out to Cheddar for gracing us with his presence before nap time. 😘🐈 "Do you need to go lay an egg?" Need to remember that for kiddos that are potty training or need "chill-out space" for their grumpy times. 🥚🤔 LOL! Have a great weekend! Christine in forest fire-ville CO 🔥🌲🔥 All my best to the Hot Shots fire fighters. We appreciate you!

    This was super helpful. I didn’t know the difference between these and alliums for bloom time. Or that these could spread. I love these more in depth information videos about specific plants. It really helps me to learn and the knowledge sticks with me more than if I read a plant tag or information online.

  • @ashleyw8032
    @ashleyw8032 4 ปีที่แล้ว +27

    Does this plant need to be pruned all the way to the ground for the next year? Also, what about fertilizer? Does this plant need any to thrive in your landscape? SO pretty!!

    • @leapintothewild
      @leapintothewild 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I was curious, too, so I hit up Google! Found "Fertilizing: Not required. If more rapid growth is desired, apply a rose or all purpose garden fertilizer in early spring" and "Maintenance & pruning: Pruning is not required." Also "This selection has not been known to reseed and is not invasive. It may be propagated in fall by digging it up and dividing the rhizome with the bulblets attached." I'm guessing the reseeding issue is common with allium, but evidently not this variety.
      I'm allergic to eating onion, but Laura has convinced me I *MUST* have a lot of them! LOL They're such a striking contrast with the other softer forms of flowers and shrubs, especially since I don't particularly like grasses. Comments copied from greatgardenplants.com and waltersgardens.com

    Planted 6 of these in the quart size this spring and they are flowering like crazy. Loving the grassy, blue, upright foliage. I have a very formal, patterned garden so I'll be deadheading - thanks for that tip!

      Does one plant produce more than one flower? Thanks

    • @frankthomas6842
      @frankthomas6842 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ltt8441 yes they do. Unlike bulb alliums which produce one large stem and flower, these remain short and produce several. This year each plant has 5-10 flowers, I'm sure that will increase as they mature and get more established.

    I love this plant!.... I bought one a couple years ago. I must say very hardy. I agree the foliage is so pretty, and also bug resistant it seems. Recently, I was looking for some Stella D’Oro Day Lillies to plant behind my shed just to dress it up a bit, and decided on this instead because I know the foliage is so pretty even till they bloom. I know the Stellas start to look a little tired after blooming, and need more attention.

    Ok so I know the Globemaster is from bulbs and these are seeds. What do you do to both when they done please? These you mentioned cutting back, and bulb ones? I am in South Africa and because of you I finally managed to get the bulbs (do NOT ask how!), which I planted and they are growing so nicely, but looking ahead to once they done
