I love how you talk to us like we are normal people, and going though in our minds when we do this. It makes something like this much easier to grasp. In Fact, this is one of the best drip videos I’ve seen. Thank you Jason!
Jason, thank you for this helpful video. I avoided drip lines for 2-3 years due to being nervous & overwhelmed. Just into it head first this past November and found I was worried over nothing. My plants are already thanking me.
Haha I JUST searched up Janey’s drip video last night. For some reason drip is giving me crippling anxiety 😂…so ridiculous. I just hate going to stores multiple times and want to get everything at once. I’ll have to check your Amazon list. Thanks!
Because my quarter inch tubing is stored in a shed where it can often be quite cold, sometimes I find it hard to put an emitter in it so I have found it helps to keep a lighter in my supply box. I use the lighter to heat up the tube just a little bit and soften it and it makes getting the emitter in much, much easier!
Jason you helped this beginner in doing drip irrigation not be so scared to try this. I really like how you used the table with the white towel for contrasr helped. Please let Janey know I she gets better soon.
Another great job Jason! Irrigation is not something I need in the UK - we definitely have more than our fair share of the wet stuff - but it was a very interesting and in-depth video. Bless you for sharing your knowledge. Sending Janey and Sadie more love and healing blessings. Xxx
You're a great teacher, Jason! Thanks for making this scary subject not quite as scary!! I hope your girls bounce back soon and you stay well! You're really doing a super fantastic job!
Thank you Jason, for covering this topic! I’m one who has always been intimidated by the ‘complexity’ of setting up a drip system - so each new video I see gives me a little more confidence to try it, and you make it look easy enough for someone like me to try it! I have a fairly small garden area, so it has always been easier for me to hand-water everything along with our regular rainfall. But this year I’m hoping to expand in one area, and I know a drip system is what I’ll need there! I’m sure I’ll be watching this video over again - and Janey’s previous ones too - as I try to get it all set up! 🤞🏻
This tutorial was really great! My winter task is to get irrigation set up. Between Janey’s previous videos and your video today, I feel ready to tackle it! 😊
Jason, you are such a trooper!! I’m sure this can’t be easy with a sick family to boot! Great job and very informative! Thank you. Hope everyone is feeling better soon!
Hi Janey and Jason. We have been traveling for a bit so I havent seen alot of your videos but I was so happy to log on and see this. I need irrigation SO BADLY!!!! And it seems overwhelming so I appreciate this SO much! Feel Better Janey and thank you Jason. Hope you both and your beautiful family stay safe and well from the fires.
I’ve been installing drip throughout my garden spaces over the last week or so, so far I’ve completed about 250 metres (270 yards?) and still have about 180 metres to go (nearly 190 yards). My elbows and triceps are not happy…. My advice, leave your various irrigation tubing out in the sun to warm it up if possible, they slide together butter smooth. In colder weather, carry a thermos of boiling water around with you and dip the end of the tubing in for a few seconds to have a similar result. If you have high water pressure, I recommend using ring clamps at each joint to stop blowouts. Generally speaking, use direct emitters for targeted watering or if your planting space is busier, such as a herbaceous border, use drip lines. Attach ends to another line to keep your pressure constantly circling rather than having just a dead end. Take lots of breaks if you’re doing a big area, and bring along a kneeling pad. I like to listen to music and podcasts as I work!
Great tutorial on this subject Jason! You’re doing a terrific job this week of covering a variety of topics. Sending Janey a big get well soon hug! ❤️🇨🇦
This was very helpful. Thank you Jason! I've wanted to do drip irrigation but it seemed intimidating. You explained the basics in a simple way for a novice like me. It does seem pretty straightforward. I hope you stay well and the family recovers soon.
Thanks Jason, this was actually what I needed. I have a small garden bed that I need to set up and this was what I needed. Great job explaining for sure. Janey sending all my prayers that you feel better.
33:27 Great job, de-mystifying drip irrigation. You should put your hole punch on a large bright coloured keychain so it will stand out in the garden. I could still see it getting easily lost in the mulch or compost with it painted red. I had to chuckle when you used the word contraption a few times..lol sending well wishes to Janey.
great video Jason. I will be setting up irrigation on my 2 acre property for my flower beds and multiple flower pots. You have answered some of my questions on how to do certain parts of the irrigation. Thank you!
Janey did a video on how to set up a drip system from the outside faucet but it was probably over a year ago she was very detailed very good video ,this helps as a refresher, thx!
Great video Jason! You really broke it down to show how every gardener can do it! I’m going to have my husband watch this so we can be on the same page.
Thank you, Jason! This was very helpful! Most videos that I have watched are in the garden and it just gets confusing. I have had all of the parts for putting in a drip system in my new garden since the summer but have been putting off doing it because it has just seemed so overwhelming. Having the examples of when to use each type of item is great! That’s for the tutorial!!!
Thank you Jason for this information. My plan is to get a simple system in place in the spring before it gets really hot and dry. Last summer and fall in West Virginia we were in serious drought conditions for months . So I want to be prepared this year.
Love this video. You are soo calm at explaining things. Thank you ❤ A couple of things ive done to help is if is an end of a tube I use a mug and and sit the tube in boiling water for a minute to soften the tube then use gloves to attach either a joiner piece or a end cap if you are not using the figure 8 crimp. I use this with most of the joins I do and it means I do not need much force. I also use a torx screwdriver when inserting straight 1/4 inch couplers into larger tubes and i find them hard to hold. 🌻
😵💫 I'm not very good at comprehension on things like this. Still confused lol, can't get a contractor to do this. It cost so much. Thank you for the video. I'll watch it over again. Maybe it'll sink into my head LOL. 🙂👋
Here in Arizona zone 9b we deal with irrigation issues all the time. I have made myself a small irrigation tool box. So When I’m surveying my landscape/garden (no vegetables) I carry it with me so that I can do minor repairs as I go. Wildlife here are always looking for water, so irrigation tubing and emitters are often chewed on.
I have Rainbird sprinklers and wondered how I can use what is there to convert to drip. I think I understand it enough now to give it a try. Thanks for explaining! Wishing good health to the Santos family. :-)
There are ways to convert a sprinkler head to drip, but it was too confusing to me. There are videos on it I think. An irrigation guy prob would know what to do
Awesome video Jason, I need to be put to the challenge and learn to do drip or change the heads as well as fix it. I always have my favorite fixer man doing all things, I am have not done. We have Rachio
Good job explaining Jason! I live in Zone 4A & want to do a drip system, If anybody on here has any suggestions on my zone. Please comment. Janie get well soon!
Good job , very good explanation of parts and pieces, my concern about drip irrigation is about the back flow meter when to use it . And when not to use,is it necessary to? Thanks
Excellent tutorial. I've never been an fan of drip (don't like all the fiddly plastic tubes), but I've been converted - - it's too windy where I garden for overhead sprinkling and my plants have grown so quickly that they prevent overhead water from reaching the ground (which is where it's needed, after all). Like you, I garden in Davis CA using well water. Ours is hard with lotos minerals so the build up clogs emitters to the point that no water gets through after a while. How do you handle this? My solution has been to use grids of 1/2" tubing with emitters every 12" and just replace the whole thing every few years rather than having to inspect/replace individual emitters. (I have acres of gardens so regularly inspecting individual emitters just doesn't happen!) Also, I plant pretty intensively and move things around, so this avoids having to install (and move) a bunch of individual emitters. This probably wastes some water (and waters some weeds between desirable plants) BUT, I always add mulch (which slows evaporation) and I think that watering beyond the root zone immediately around individual plants encourages their roots to spread out.
Can you help me? I feel like when I installed mine and when I leave the faucet open, the water still drips from the spigot when the timer hasn’t gone off. What do I need to do. I know I’m missing something Btw good video. Straight and to the point.
The non pressure regulated just flows water out at a fast clip. If anyone can tell me the purpose of non pressure regulated emitters is I’d love to hear it.

Very Good Jason. I love how easy you teach and have me understand how everything connects and works. Have a wonderful day
Jason, thank you for this helpful video. I avoided drip lines for 2-3 years due to being nervous & overwhelmed. Just into it head first this past November and found I was worried over nothing. My plants are already thanking me.
Great video Jason! Your doing great stepping in this week. I’ve been enjoying watching. Hope Janey rests up & feels better soon.🇨🇦
Thank you Jason for stepping in and doing these videos while Janey is sick. I hope her recovery is quick and complete. ❤

Jason in the garden! You are doing great. Hope Janey and Sadie are on the mend. 😊
Sorry to hear Janey is not feeling better yet! Drip is definitely a game changer. How funny…I’ll be doing my raised bed soon, as well! Great job!!
Another great job Jason! Irrigation is not something I need in the UK - we definitely have more than our fair share of the wet stuff - but it was a very interesting and in-depth video. Bless you for sharing your knowledge. Sending Janey and Sadie more love and healing blessings. Xxx

Why not let the girls create a big bright keyring for this little puncher to not get lost
Great job Jason!
