I want replace the original hard drive with a Solid State hard drive, but don’t I need to transfer the data first? Or do I just install the new hard drive I. The second slot?
Hi, I have just bought 16GB of hyper x ram, and a ssd, and 1 1 TB second HDD for this laptop. The SSD and 8 GB of ram work fine, but the second HDD, and the ram underneath the keyboard just wont work, so I now have a laptop with only 8GB of ram, & only the SSD. The second HDD does not even spin up, like it's not powered, and if I put memory underneath the keyboard it wont even boot. Any idea what is wrong?
+Neville Springer what cpu do you have? Only the quad cores support using all the ram slots. For the hdd km guessing it's a bad connection or a faulty drive. Did you try the drive on a different system?
You can ran 16GB ram with i5 processor but only in this formation 2x8GB PC3L 1600MHz in two lower slots, those slots under the keyboard wont run with i5 or i7 dual processor, just with i7 quad. I have M6800 and I love it, good machine it is. About storage memory you can run, 1x mSata from 128 to 512GB, 2 or 3 SSD up to 512GB, OR like me 1 SSD and 1 HDD and I will soon add 1 more SSD in the CD slot.
Hi dude. I got a question for you about this Dell Model. I got the Intel i7 version and the tempeture is very high i think. The average tempeture is 50 Cº. In a rare ocation is 45 cº. Any advice? This is normal? Thanks for any answer.
What type of load is the laptop under? What temperature is this(bottom, cpu die)? These will normally get to about 80C under max load, and about 40-50 idle, so nothing about your cpu temps seems bad from this info.
Doesn't seem alarming to me. I personally wouldn't worry and that's about the Temps my laptop runs at. You can try cleaning the fans and new thermal paste.

Thanks for the reply. I Have the I5 so that explains the ram. I see there is a BIOS upgrade, so I will try that, and see if the second HDD works.

I am little confused, this laptop supports 3 hard drives? can you make the msata a boot disk and build a raid 1 with the other 2 drives?
Yea it supports 2 2.5in hdds a msata ssd and a optical drive. You can use all at once and setup msata as boot and raid on the hdds if you want.
what hard disk did you put?
What SSDs will fit the precision m6600? Not finding a good answer to that
Any 2.5 in sata ssd will work on the m6600. Both 2.5 bays are sata 6g aswell so you can get the full speed out of ssds
it also has mSata ssd slot.

50 Cº to 60 Cº with 20% of CPU load. Only a browser open with two or tree tabs. What do you think? Also the coolers running all the time.

How many hard-drives this laptop have? one or two?
2 hdd bays and one msata slot for a ssd. The optical drive can also be used for Anouther hdd if needed.

The 2.5 bays are both sata 3. The DVD drive and msata are both sata 2. I have all sata 3 drives I'm my system
