You can do it both ways. It's preferable to unhook it after it's all positioned because if you power it off first, when you turn the machine back on it's going to try to home, but you won't be able to move the Y axis where you want to because the rotary will be connected. There are ways around it, but it would involve having to disengage the auto home function.

dont you have to power it down to unhook the y and plug in the rotary. i dont have a laguna. i have full spectrum. although i have laguna cnc router
