    Just got one recently too, came from the OG zetian wu. I like this one better. That bass has great authority, slightly forward, but still knows its place. The overall tonality feels really pleasant too

    This is a very good IEM. It's beautiful and well built. I slightly prefer P1 Max and S12 Pro over this one. Performance of all of them is extremely similar, just a different tune. P1 Max is more neutral and less fatiguing, S12 Pro is more V shape and fun. They all trade blows song to song. Highly recommend Heyday for anyone that likes forward vocals and doesn't mind a little fatigue in the 3-5k area from time to time. P1 Max is more relaxed there. Nice review as always. Wishing you well.

    In terms of bang for buck s12 seems like the way to go as you can find it on sale for 120$ vs 200$ heyday but I understand that the treble can be fatiguing for some and I keep hearing the heyday has the best tuning for a planar.
    Do great that we have more options with the crazy pace this industry is moving.

    Would you ever consider this iem as an iem that you can use for mixing and mastering?
    If not which other iem around the same price point would you recommend?
    Thank you

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! The funny thing is. I use Heyday to do my post editing work for my videos now as Heyday seems to have good accuracy and resolution to pick up upper frequency noises which will then allow me to fix the problem. That sort of resolution is on par to the likes of Etymotic ER4SR. So yes my answer, it will be great for Mixing and Mastering, you just need to be aware that Heyday does have low frequency boost which is thicker than what is considered as neutral

    • @roviccastillo9087

    Great review as always!
    It is very interesting to see that HBB version of the iem has less bass, since he likes his bass.
    Question: What do the different size terminations do for iems? I have only used 3.5mm cables so far. Do you think it's worth getting a balanced output termination?

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The different plug sizes are simply for the flexibility of using it to any type of port. Nothing wrong with just using 3.5mm. It's just that so many DAC/Amps now use 4.4mm and usually the 4.4mm section of the amps has more power with discrete grounds. Plug sizes are not the factor for sound quality

    • @syedrehanfida
      @syedrehanfida ปีที่แล้ว

      As I said S12 is already a great planar IEM, so it depends on your perspective if you want to chase the finer improvements over what's already great. The rule of diminishing returns apply here just like many other objects of interest when they are already at the peak territory. But then we also know we are crazy enough to churn out that money for that same fine differences

    Whatever the quality of this new tuning, I wonder what justifies the 50$ price hike when comparing to the "old" version.
    Is there any driver upgrade ? Price of the new faceplate ?
    Because the upgraded tuning consists of changing the rear damper from a 250 to a 300 (less low freq), changing the nozzle damper from 400 to 500, and maybe not even touching the port damper. Is that worth 50$ ? Remember the B2 becoming Dusk, the price difference was minimal.
    BTW, nice review, as always.

    • @EduRB99
      @EduRB99 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's also a different driver

    • @VanDungLe2510
      @VanDungLe2510 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the 50$ different is justified between the old vs new. You're getting a modular and a full metal build (heck, i'd even pay 50$ more just for the metal build).

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TANGZU has revealed on their FB page recently that Heyday uses different and newer planar drivers. Also the fact that it uses full aluminum shells now as opposed to plastic, then there's the premium SPC cable with full range modular plugs. Not forgetting they have done amazing work with tuning Heyday for better balance sound towards being more neutral with improved technicalities, I would say the price is justified considering this is their flagship IEM

      @@VanDungLe2510 Both will do great, you are now touching on two IEMs with different tunings. While Heyday is closer to being neutral, P5 is more colored and heavier with Subbass. • @jasongibson3574
      @jasongibson3574 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have 4 planars but don't have Hook X and that one is a little different due to the extra driver. But what I've learned is anyone saying there is some difference in technical performance between them isn't being accurate. Soundstage and imaging is extremely similar on all of them. Detail and resolution are identical. It's the same driver technology. Whatever tiny difference people hear is tuning difference. I've played around with eq on them and can replicate things in all of them. I would not make a purchase decision on that. Just get the one you think represents the sound you want aka tuning, for a good price, and looks nice to you.
