@@book-ramble My thoughts exactly. It reminds me of how well I really pay attention to the style in which different authors create their stories and it ingrains that familiarity in me to be able to recognize who is writing what, even if they write under a pen name.
@@book-ramble I actually borrowed that forbidden fruit phrase I heard a long time ago by one of my university professors. It “stuck” with me ever since 😁. And yes, this was indeed King. I appreciate you talking about the book. I’ve been curious about it. I’m a big Stephen King reader and would like to read as many books as possible. However, because the book is unavailable and I do not want to pay a lot for it and I’m leery of this subject, I probably will not read it. Stephen King has not held back in going to dark places in his stories and usually I’m ok with that. Thanks again for going over it!
@@ingridfitz5677 I do think you’d be better off just getting the 3 other stories in this collection in their standalone formats and definitely skip “Rage”. My own ultimate reading goal is to read everything by King and without “Rage” I wouldn’t be able to claim that. That’s the ONLY reason this story was worth getting it. But if you’re leery about the subject matter then yes I would advise to stay away from it. But I think it ultimately depends on how far you want to go with King’s works.
Interesting review. So some psychopath kid shoots some teachers and then The Breakfast Club happens? Nah, I'm being a smart aleck, but that's sort of what the description reminds me of. 😂 I'm really just a casual King fan. I had a lot of fun with his earlier stuff. Started losing interest in the mid 90s. Haven't read anything he's published this century -- though I've had a couple titles recommended. I had missed out on the Bachman books and wondered if I should try them. Then The Regulators came along and left me fine with skipping the others. Doesn't sound like this one is any more encouraging. However, your review is very well done. Thanks for the video, and have a good one!
@@BryanM.R.-prionic1 Lol no smart aleck-ness required! That is exactly what happened in the story and it was beyond bizarre. My ultimate reading life goal is to read all of King’s works. I agree, the shooting is secondary to the real premise of the story. Like you it’s not the best Bachman book…glad i read it years ago, but its not one i say folks HAVE to read.
@@kevintowle9665 The only reason I can claim being glad I read it was to help fulfill my goal of reading all of King’s works. I know there will be clunkers along the way (I didn’t enjoy Bag of Bones that well either, but it was better than this) so that’s just inevitable. This story being one of a few, I’m sure.
You're not the only one who is confused. His whole motivation for his classroom rants and "exposing" of students was bizarre. It just wandered around and had no focus. 1 star for me. Good luck with your 1 King book a month 🤮. I've personally sworn him off as I just don't really enjoy him anymore. I do like the title if the book tho.
@@FacelessBookReviews 😂 Understood. But just curious, is it the stuff past the earliest years (say, about the 90’s and beyond) that killed it for you? It seems a lot of readers turn off King around that time.
@@Travsbookshelf I tried reading the Dark Towers and gave up after book 3. The I read 11/22/63 which was good but too long and wordy. I just grew out of his stuff. Used to be a fan but not anymore.
