They're technically illegal if Im not mistaken as they manipulate fingers alot of the time. The first one in this video was complained about. Whats your take? 0:11 clear finger manipulation in this one.
Yes. But the satisfaction is sort of like when you heel hook a three stripe white belt. Should he know the defense to every leg locking position? Probably not. But does it feel pretty good getting the submission they didn't see coming? Absolutely.
I remember almost a year ago when I was first starting BJJ, one of the black belt assistant instructors got me with a wrist lock and I remember thinking “is that even legal?” Lmao
It’s about positions really! I started BJJ when I was a 3rd degree Blackbelt in Hapkido so basically I had wrist locks BJJ guys never even saw but they still got me in basic wrist-locks like these every time with ease.
Umair Ramzan they are allowed, but they can be painful and dangerous because the wrist is a small joint. So most people do not do them. if you choose to use them, be careful and do them slowly!
Yup, The Kata doesn’t show moving offline, it’s one of the things you work out in training. I personally believe that technique to be the original intent. You could go through a Kata from start to finish. There is a correct time for every good technique. You still get the old “that won’t work “ comments. Wish you lived in the states, we need more pragmatic instructors here!
Yeah. They work in matches with tons of rules and with extreme limitations put in place. In a real-life all-out life or death fight, no way a wrist lock is going to work let alone happen.
Wristlocks are legal in most rulesets for adult divisions. In ibjjf they are allowed from blue belt to black belt. Adcc and sub only rules also allow their usage.
I don't know.... submission by manipulating the small joints (ankles, wrists) just feels a bit cheap. Perhaps a 2-point system should be implementet, where 2 smaller joint submisson are required for winning.
Spiros Roumeliotis I’d take leg reaps over wrist locks though. I know they consider them to be dangerous, but I think wrist locks have a higher potential for damage. Who knows though, I’m no black belt so fuck my opinion
I've read that the original jiu-jitsu practitioners in Japan actually did develop finger lock techniques. The combat version of jiu-jitsu wasn't a sport, it was made to cripple, then kill an opponent, so poking eyes would be totally allowed. In the modern sports world though... even, not so much maybe.
Most under rated submission on this video is the music. I tapped like 14 times. Eventually just had to go mute
0:33 CHEWYYYYY
Prob most underrated submission!

Absolutely agree. I was an average Blue Belt and I got so good at them I could catch partners much better than myself with them.
@@holeindanssock156 they are 100% legal past white belt. And the sub @0:11 is completely legal. Bending small joints (fingers, toes) is illegal.
I agree cause even I used it an made a black belt tap from which I'm not a pro at all
@@holeindanssock156 well not in mma it's not 🤣
Anyone else feel dirty, but satisfied watching this?

I've got maddeningly flexible wrists. I'm really good at wrist locks. When I learned they were legal. It was ON.
"If you gaze enough into an abbys the abbys will gaze back into you" (Nietzsche)
I love seeing this. I keep running into people claiming wrist locks aren't good. I do them ALL THE TIME!
finally some decent content
i remember the first time i got caught with a wrist lock I was like 'what the hell was that?'
Same I was leglocking everyone but I had never learned a wristlock and then a purple belt girl got.me from side.
@Burger Kang white belt I always practiced them on my own time
This is the way
everytime you do a wrist lock to someone anubis moves a black bead on the abacus that keeps track of your soul.
Lmfao
I am now back here laughing about this comment for a second time. Thanks for that.

@bleach4711 thanks.
@bleach4711 how long do u thinkni should train for before my first competition
@bleach4711 how long have you been doin jiu jitsu for?
@bleach4711 i started for a week just before quarantine
Finally some good music to a highlight video
Wristlocks are like stomping on the guy's foot in the UFC. They're kinda cheap but they're pretty effective.
Thats such a dumb comment a wrist lock is like an ankle lock smfh people
i think they are much more effective than foot stomps tbh but i see what ur saying lol
This is 1st level 5th Kyu stuff in Aikido. Nothing cheap. Just basic.

Great video . First one ive seen on wristlocks
These are all heroes in my book. 😁
Chewy??? Chewjitsu???
Cool name.
The first guy is like "hey this isn't fair, is that allowed?"
1:50 shows that contrary to popular belief a closed fist does NOT prevent a wrist lock when put on with determination.
is it legal in the tournament?
legal in almost all BJJ rulesets
I've hit one on a self defense scenario, super satisfying
Is that legal in competition?
Legal from blue belt and above (ibjjf)
ToLeviOrNotToLevi oh ok thanks I didn’t know. Makes sense. Very scary though, that’s a lot of pressure on a small joint.
@@jeffdj1975 Its similar manipulation of a straight ankle lock.
Love catching wristlocks
2:05 made me scream
Omg yeah. That looked so fucking painful
Does anyone know the music?
Locks on point music on point🤘🏻
WHAT SONG IS THIS
Where is Marcello Garcia versus Popovich?
great compilation, and good the slow motions. Wrist locks are really bad to see. You think What's the matter? Why did he/she tap?
Opponent; damn he’s setting up a kimura
Me; 😈
Great 👍🏼 stuff
I love it!
IMO Wrist Locks are under utilized. Just ask Garry Tonon. When you start using them you will see them everywhere.
@Burger Kang It was a verbal tap an Garry did not contest it.
Was that a fatter Chewy?
Footage is great , music choice was annoying!
Just hit mute and move on.

Love the music.
Wrist lock techniques other fighting style

Kody Steele deserves a spot on this list.
Beware the gooseneck!
I came to the comments to see if anyone knows the girl at 2:15 😂😂😂

The look on the guys face at 12 seconds is priceless.

No jacare wristlock.... bad hl
How is there a wrist lock compilation with no Mike Perez... ya'll must be kidding
I really need to start attacking the wrist more.
I been training my right wrist for years, good luck....
My wrist hurts just watching this
holy fuck that brown belt wrist lock
Crazy how BJJ'ers whine about them when they're white belt level in most other schools of Jujutsu
I bet music is more painful than those wrist locks.
Is that chewy?
Good Lord 😂
Grosseria sem.fim
Damn that looks nasty
Do you want to win fastest? LOSER and being called NASTIEST ...??? Funny
Why oh why do they choose this death metal to show wristlocks. But hey, rock on.
Fucking brutal.
i didnt even know this shit was legal. my prof tried this shit on me lol.
Petition to get rid of gloves in the UFC! (so we can see wristlocks)
Chewy with wrist lock
❤
Chewy?! Haha
Chewy
I thought small joint manipulation was out of play in competitions.....? Obviously fingers but I thought wrists too.
I thought so too. Obviously the guy in the first clip thought so too when he threw his hand up in the air in exasperation like "wtf".
Wristlocks are legal in most rulesets for adult divisions. In ibjjf they are allowed from blue belt to black belt. Adcc and sub only rules also allow their usage.
Its kinda lame how they just try to smash a gooseneck... not much variety there
holy shit the girl at 209 her wrist is broke
Painful to watch
Actually fuck wrist locks so easy to get injured with them
Lmao, that crybaby in the first clip. He think he was playing soccer, or what?!
Aikido will boost your grappling exponentially
Is that Chewy?!?!
I used to play this with my older sisters until my bobos dropped.
I was cringing 😥
From a spectating point of view, wrist locks just look like a dirty win to me, just my opinion

@@brendon2462 except it doesn't take skill to wristlock.
