Standard police gooseneck wrist control. Yes, the other guy has a chance to punch you in the face but two things about that...1) Keenan is teaching this as a sport jiu jitsu move, no punching. 2) For police work, it's for dealing with defensively resisting but not combative person. If you pay attention to the person's other hand and they look like they may punch you can either break the wrist, which definitely distracts them from their intended punch, transition to takedown or push away to get distance for other control options.
They really can't punch you worth a shit. They're reaching around themselves to do it. They're pretty screwed. Probably a dozen things you could transition to do if they are getting that out of hand anyway.
Plus wrist locks aren’t a primary attack done without setup ( especially In self defence) . 9/10 wrist locks are attacks of opportunity. A good example is You would be doing this mid battle after say a more reliable move like a inside trip attempt fails but the opponent is off balance ( not able throw haymakers) You’ve likely punched him tired him and wrist locks are fast.. people imagining punch counters are imagining this as a fight opener in a self defence situation???? Like your getting double legged or eating punches over a wrist lock even from wrist lock experts
I love this lock but like after you put your leg behind his leg, you leave yourself open for an intense head bud. And I know head bud is not allowed in matches but in real life it's like digging your own grave.
This is a great video. I have noticed that most wrist locks are taught from a self defence context where one person grabs your wrist or your shirt and you then apply a wrist lock in defence which isn't totally realistic. Do you know of any other technique for aggressively applying standing wrist locks to an opponent like this one?
What is cool too is if you straighten the arm you can use the Russian Tie to get the back and then you can put the opponent in a choke or a Suplex Throw.

Not too long ago most BJJ practitioners laughed at wrist locks, now they're finally being used and taught.
Wristlock series off the Russian were my B-game working as a bouncer/loss prev officer, if someone defended the armdrag. Learned it from a JJJ guy. Occasionally I tap or takedown people much better than me with wristlocks, people underestimate the danger of a fig 4 wrist lock or gooseneck especially in Nogi where people don't think you have the control/friction to hold on

Would it be possible for him to defend by passing his left hand under his right fist and grabbing KC's right wrist and applying pressure up? Haven't tried it but it seems that the downward pressure could be somewhat negated.

This is a Taekwondo wrist lock. We did this in Taekwondo.
It's also used by the Marines
This technique has probably been around almost as long as wrestling itself. Along with most other grappling techniques. I still believe that new techniques can be developed and tweaked, but for the most part everything's been done.

"Deadly wristlock" is a bit of an oxymoron don't you think? Or just clickbate I suppose. The gooseneck is a superior wristlock to most others however.
The Dog Runner if your end goal is to fight to the death a great place to start to destroying their ability to use their hands. And then ultimately use deadly force in a life or death combat situation.
