What an absolutely incredible find and deal, that would probably still bring 4k here in Australia at least in the condition you have gotten it to, these vg engines are very robust and reliable, plenty of information online about these cars and engines as the do take a bit of learning to get your head around but once working properly will give you endless smiles for miles. First thing I would recommend doing is replacing all vaccume/fuel/breather/trans lines as there is many places to get a leak from which will result in very rough running. Easier to do now and have the reliability from the start then try and hunt down an unknown issue later on. So excited to see the progress of this build!
@@Pondsisawesome124 hello from Delaware! I never saw the part 2 video so I'm wondering what happened to this car? Do you still have it? Any other videos available where can I find them?
I've had my dad's old z sitting in my garage for 13 years according to the inspection sticker this inspired me to bring it back to the land of the living
Rear leak is one of two things 1> a quarter window seal is bad on one or both sides. Or 2> open the rear hatch and inspect the area around the hinges on the roof. If you see hairline cracks where the seam-sealer is used then you found your leak. Cracked seam-sealer by the hatch hinges is an issue on most 80's and 90's j-spec cars, it's why all the CRX's eventually wind up getting a pile of gross plastic in the back that used to be a spare tire cover. Luckily Nissan didn't try to use weird materials for their covers so you just need carpet and 1/4" fiber-board to replace them
I have a 53k original miles 2 seater I just picked up for 700 original paperwork when bought bill of sale literally everything included. The key number isn’t rubbed off and some how down look bad either. Paint is alittle bad in the back left but other than that very very very little rust and the dashboard is ruined from the sun. Was an amazing find
leak in hatch is from black gasket type stuff around rear qtr panel windows. Also the black sealant that seals tail lights fails also. im dealing with the issue on mine now.
Huh mine has the same water leak in the rear. I believe the weather seals not having been put in correctly when we replaced the glass. Or they've deteriorated over time.
You got it for practically close to nothing so saying "it's a good deal" is pretty annoying. Why didn't the seller ask for more than $100?? Crazy. I bought mines for $1400 and THAT was a good deal, haha.
219k high milage, that VG is still a baby, my Z has 260k on the original engine, although it just blew from neglect from prev owner
I know right!!! It’s a baby. Lol. Mine has 233K
Ha. I guess he forgot it's over 30 years old

They must have been popular back then:-)
You might want to check if there is a recall on the radiator

It seems to be a very well known issue with these cars, it seems the seal just deteriorates over time like you said
I got a 1985 turbo with 230k and it’s kicking strong I’m also putting a motor in my friends 86 non turbo with 307k
my dream car!
Hahaha I have a 1988 300ZX, and it has the same hood open-sustainer apparatus!!!!
It seems like it was in a flood, mold inside, rust ,even on dash board indications of a under water car ,not worth it, sad, she's a beauty
Hits the horn: BEEEP
Doesn’t work 😂
I wouldn't be surprised if this was submerged in a flood at one point. Did you happen to purchase from a hurricane area city?
No, it's not a flood car but it did spend time in Philly.
for 100 that a good price
Nice car $100 👊🏼
Good luck man
Thanks, I'm going to need it on this one:-)
Did you drain the gas?
Yes, the tank was dropped, cleaned, & epoxy coated inside.
amazing
Thanks
