Kia ora, thank you for the video it has been afew years since I weaved but before I was weaving for afew years before I stopped. My grandmother who is 98 years old now was the one that showed me how to weave, but since she is this old she can't weave anymore. I had started back up but I had forgotten how to finish but your video reminded me how so now I can finish this belt and give it to someone that would love it so thank you.

Not a fan of the pronunciation of our reo Maori but this has good information for those who dont have access to kaiwhatu or kairaranga.

Really great video. I like the history about the Maori People that preceeds the weaving instructions. It gives you a nice sense of the history behind the weaving.

All you moaning about her pronouncing the Maori names wrong , should just be thankful she has acknowledge our culture and is helping people like me learn freely, from the comfort of my own home instead of having to pay to learn on a course!! No body at the Marae to show us younger ones how to do it , like it's such a big secret 🙄

Hi Joyce and thanks for the video. I've just done a headband using this video but it doesn't sit flat and straight. It curls up at the bottom edge. Would you know why this is and how I can fix it and prevent it from happening? Thanks

I think, every1 has their own technique for doing things. Just as long as it looks ok, then it shouldn't matter how it's done...(Just saying)

This was such a great resource for helping to teach myself and my students tāniko. The diagrams and commentary make it easy to follow, and you can pause and replay parts until you get it correct. Thank you.

Are we watching the same thing? It is so inaccurate (not to mention the horrible pronouciation of the language).

  • @whaeaof5

I am so dismayed to see this video of an ancient artform butchered by not only the awful mispronunciation of the Maori language but also (and I say this as a weaver and as a teacher of weaving) the incorrect technique. Terrible. PLEASE REMOVE this from You Tube.
