    Irina, thank you for this very informative tutorial. You explain everything so clearly without confusion. This should become the go-to video for all new to Shetland Lace knitters, no just for Minogame but for many patterns. ❤🌹

    That was great - thank you! When doing my initial swatch I had to keep checking the symbols to see which stitch to do, especially on the even rows as going left to right in pattern is unfamiliar to me, and your tip is a great way to know which stitch! thank you.

      Just knit along with this video, you can stop it, rewatch it as many times as you want. I’m sure after knitting these first few rows you’ll get the rhythm

    I'm still embracing my pace for the 2022 MKAL so I will not be able to join the Lace KAL. But as a fairly new knitter I have learned so much from just watching this tutorial. Thank you for putting this together.

      You are welcome to join anyways. Instead of knitting an entire shawl, you can just knit one Centre diamond and learn the basics of Shetland lace, then after you are done with twists and turns come back to the shawl

    I’m a fairly new subscriber. Thank you for this tutorial. I’m not new to knitting but have never knit from charts as they are just a foreign language to me. You demystified this for me. In the end it’s all ‘just’ knits, purls etc. Sounds SO simple 🤣. I may give this a go, in a fingering weight I think, would give me some confidence. Thank you again, for caring so much about the fibre community ie me and all the other knitters, designers and yarny folk 🤗

    Grrrrrrreat video! My LYS doesn't have a white/gray lace yarn, so I'll have to order and thus won't start with tonight's zoom. I have wanted to knit a Shetland style shawl for years and am so excited to participate in this KAL.

    Hi Irina, that’s a great video, very clear.
    I know the original patterns you read from right to left and the following row from left to right.
    I find it easyer, and it is very simple with this pattern, to read all the time from rigt to left, you then have only put all the purlstitches in the patternchart 1 stitch to the left.
    And maybe another tip...wenn you have to knit 2 stitches together and stretch them a little bit, then it’s easyer to insert.
    Sorry for my englisch, greetings from the netherlands Laura

    • @Fiberchats
      @Fiberchats  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right about chart reading, but this pattern was chosen by me specifically to introduce people to basic Shetland lace as a stepping stone to more complicated patterns. If the chart isn’t completely symmetrical, then reading every row from the right is not an option. So, I rather people got used to reading the charts properly on this easier pattern

    Just watched the tuto for the second time, it is becoming quite intuitive now. I am thinking about doing this Minogame as a preparation for the Marvels of the sea ...
    The k2togtbl look a bit like ssk don't they ? I am wondering if I could use them in raglan sweater instead of ssk, might just swatch for that ...

    Irena, Confused about how do you know there are 3 extra stitches at either end and how do you know to repeat the center 3 times? Thanks for getting us started.

    • @Fiberchats
      @Fiberchats  ปีที่แล้ว

      The pattern tells you both of that in the written part of the instructions. You can’t know it from just looking at the chart
