Man....to this day this still remains one of my favourite games ever. The atmosphere it possesses is just so intense and majestic. Really makes you feel like you're experiencing the wonders of infinite space.
So enticing that many times I forgot about Juni's calling to keep trading! No need to rush and finish the game before enjoying those wonderful space trips for a long time.
Freelancer's space music does a really great job of blending the "ethnic" music with the New Agey sound. Just the right balance of ambience and presence. Like some mysterious samurai are waiting to ambush me in a mysterious fog/nebula.
I know this comment is 11 years old but I can only agree with that. What I really love about the game is the further you get away from the centre of Sirius, the more mysterious and alien like the music gets. I really loved exploring the border systems like omikron or omega since their music was just like not from this world. Like saying "look at those majestic and powerful systems your tiny human brain can barely comprehend". It was so beautiful.
I do. God I wish they would do a second game even after all those years. I'm glad that they managed to make this a grwat game since Microsoft as publisher screwed the dev team over.
@@LakituKoopa oh I don’t play there anymore for 10 years now however I decided to give it a try again in 2017 (just a few days) but even then I realized the amount of players was WAY smaller than in my old and active time (2009-2013). If I remember correct the average players were at 100-130 (2017) at my evening time. In year 2009-2013 it wasn’t any problem to reach maximum player limit of 200 haha no you even had to wait to connect to server because so many tried to connect at same time and it was full. Well I have no idea how it looks like today but I think there are some players but not many.
@@Schneeklinge Mhhh maybe I should try it before it dies completely. I remember that as a kid I used to play Multiplayer with my brother but I think it was vanilla. Still very good times.
decided to listen to this while playing star citizen. Reminiscing about Chris Robert's previous games. Now I am seriously considering spinning up my discovery freelancer characters again
freelancer has an awesome atmosphere havent experienced any new titled games have the same feel as freelancer did, and it was honestly by happenchance that I was able to find out about the game
If they just remade it I reckon it would be a best seller based on the fact all sci fi nerds still feel strongly that this was one of the greatest sci fi games ever created.
@Soroxaa OMG, you just made it to bump in my head.. I swear I heard it from my speakers while listening to this....^^ BTW awesome ambient track... it takes me back... Freelancer - I'll never forget you...
@dipidulor it means that he/she wants to start a facebook campaign to make a page demanding that freelancer 2 should be created, and we the freelancer fans to join that page to make it more popular so that microsoft guys will notice it :)
Somone needs to do an updated version of this game... could be the same storyline, ships, characters, and sectors, as long as it had the mod-ability of the original it would rock... Miss playin this game.
LoL you making that comment 5 years ago. But actually, I'd prefer to travel to an alternate reality where Chris Roberts never touched Hollywood and instead doubled down on Freelancer, Microsoft DID NOT kick him out in 2001 and instead gave him more budget to work on it for many more years and finally released it in 2008. No need for Star Citizen, then.
@@JAnx01 Truly truly. The destiny of the Starlancer saga is to fade into the vapor, it seems, but it is still alive in a some of us. Who knows, maybe one day someone will try to make an open source port of Freelancer, using all it's original data assets, where it will be compatible with the old mods.

i just keep expecting to hear 'freelancer alpha 1-1. you are now cleared for launch. Good flying'
Really is one of the best games ive ever played.
"I'm engaging Freelancer Alpha 1-1."
One of the most underrated Games ever, I just love the concept.

Pure Love... this game is so special there is nothing to compare it to.
Who is still listening to this and likes to think about good old times in freelancer with its friends?
I do. God I wish they would do a second game even after all those years. I'm glad that they managed to make this a grwat game since Microsoft as publisher screwed the dev team over.
@@LakituKoopa did you play on discovery RP 24/7 ?
@@Schneeklinge Sadly no. But maybe I'll give it a try. Community still active?

I love the whole Kusari-theme, the music too, but also that idea of asiatic/Japanese Space. Does anybody know some music which is similar to this?
There is such music in China, I think.
This is Kusari Police Beta19 to Freelancer Alpha 1-1 I am scaning your cargo bay for contra band...OK you're clean! :)))
I love the aesthetic of this music.

damn i like this game!!!
Love it, reminds me of Tiberian Sun menu theme, with a Japanese note to it.

Very relaxing!
Atmosphere, lol, the irony in this considering probably 90% of the game takes place in the airlessness of space

@WayfstrthnU
Given the presence of the Dragons, I wouldn't be surprised if they are.
This music is missing the high pitched hum of a dragon heavy fighters travel engines…
