    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The players invite Terence (James Earl Jones) to follow them into the corn; Ray (Kevin Costner) feels slighted.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
"If you build it, he will come." That's the ethereal message that inspires Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) to construct a baseball diamond in the middle of his cornfield. At first, "he" seems to be the ghost of disgraced ballplayer Shoeless Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta), who materializes on the ballfield and plays a few games with the awestruck Ray. But as the weeks go by, Ray receives several other messages from a disembodied voice, one of which is "Ease his pain." He realizes that his ballfield has been divinely ordained to give a second chance to people who have sacrificed certain valuable aspects of their lives. One of these folks is Salingeresque writer Terence Mann (James Earl Jones), whom Ray kidnaps and takes to a ball game and then to his farm. Another is Doc Graham (Burt Lancaster), a beloved general practitioner who gave up a burgeoning baseball career in favor of medicine. The final "second-chancer" turns out to be much closer to Ray. That "magical" field in Dyersville, Iowa still draws thousands of baseball-happy tourists each year.

No word can describe the emotions i got after watching costner playing this unforgettable moment , hesitation in his words to ask for himself though cuteness and charm at the same time on his face. Appearance of a man in whom every one wants to believe and have faith. What a personality. I m a big fan of his smile and naturalistic behaviour, everytime he comes. Lot of love and faith for him from India.

This scene made me think, was Terence Mann (James Earl Jones) also dead and obviously a ghost and Ray had imagined their meeting? hence why Terence disappeared in the cornfield, like all the other ghosts. Just another link in the chain of people Ray needed to bring everything together in order to reconcile with his father at the end.

I want to say two things: 1) I have found an all new love for this movie and its symbolism I've not felt for 20 years as I hadn't seen it for that long and 2) I am reminded of "Stargate" when Jackson first goes to the Stargate's watery light/gateway to teleportation with his hands immersing in the energy smiling and enjoying it like he's ten years old. Such wonder, it reminds me of Terrance's laughing and sticking his hand into the corn laughing.
