I'm in my 50, diagnosed in my 50s. How much gentler would I have been on myself had I known I had ADHD much earlier. It's a real journey to let go of the shame of not "living up to my potential", of not "trying hard enough" when I've spent my entire life trying as hard as I can. Thank you for such an incredibly clear glimpse into my life
My dad is 66 and my mom is 67. I have adhd, am medicated, and life hasn’t been better. It’s so hard watching them go through life without treatment. Of course their lives are pretty good, but it could be even better. They are in denial, and it’s been years trying to convince them. I’m hoping one day it changes
I just turned 50. I’ve struggled with ADHD/ADD my entire life, yet I always thought I COULDN’T have had ADHD because I have been overweight as long as I remember, preschool years. Only skinny people have ADHD, I observed in my ignorance. I was diagnosed with food allergies, overeating, and laziness during childhood. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety as a young adult and continue to take antidepressants daily. My highest quality sleep is achieved after 2am or mid-afternoon. I’ve been learning more about ADHD/ADD in 2023, and this video describes my life almost verbatim. I finally feel a sense of direction. Thank you.
This is the best video about ADHD that I have ever watched. It is very precise in every single aspect. This is exactly what I needed to share to family and friends so they understand it better, the entire channel is a blessing for us ADHDers. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Got me in tears. Been recently diagnosed, and it´s overwhelming. The "aha" hit like a truck, and these months definetely fixated on that 2%, the "fix myself" logic. The loops in my head of the neverending list of the things I fucked up. But you´re right. I thrived, I survived, and made this mess a (most of the times) beautiful and enjoyable mess. This was a virtual hug. Thanks Linda, and everyone in this community
This is the most comprehensive run down on ADHD and how it affects your entire life that I've ever seen/ heard. May we all be lucky enough to find providers as knowledgeable and understanding as Linda
That was amazing and helpful! I watched it through to the end without difficulty. I could confirm some behaviours, and learned and understood others. Thank you very much! It's hard to find this subject approached with proficiency and objectiveness and additionally provides us with quality support with reliable assistance. I'll share with a few ADHD friends that will surely benefit from it as well.
Linda, you are inspiring and so good at talking to people about ADHD. I can't wait to show this to my children. There are so many things that resonate. Thank you so much.
Yes I want my daughter to listen. She’s 15, I’m 43, we both just diagnosed 2 weeks ago… it’s been a relief to realize there’s a good reason why we struggle with the things we do and I find that it’s so much easier to give us grace than before the dx… now we can be more intentional about learning strategies to help us function well
Shame is given to you by others. Guilt is how you feel. When you stop worrying about what others think of you and realise that they are probably projecting, then you will view shame differently. It has taken me 3 years of coaching to really understand that and change how I view shame. I feel like i have enough of my own issues without taking on anyone elses. Coaching has changed my life. Medication only does so much. They are two sides of the same coin and compliment each other. I was diagnosed 4 years ago at 46 after 20 years of fighting to get the right diagnosis and told it was in my head. They were right of course, it is in my head, just not in the way they were implying. 😂 Thank you for these podcasts, they are all pieces to my puzzle 💜
I’ve been studying ADHD for 4 years and I’m in couching classes. I put this on to keep me company while I unpacked groceries (yeay me). I was floored by all the new info Linda shared and how much she touched my heart. ❤❤
O U T S T A N D I N G. 👏🏽 💯 👏🏽 💐 Got me sitting here wiping my eyes at the end. Had planned to listen for 10 minutes & then stop 🛑... Nope...I was drawn in! (hello, ADD 😉🤣) Wonderful pace, helpful graphics & info. Great self-reflection questions throughout. Insightful. Solid answers to the questions. Excited to look into more about this presenter!! Well done. Thank you. 🙏🏽 🌻

wow Thanks for this, not only am I a late diagnoised adhd, all 3 of my kids now are diagnoised with it, We never knew while they were in school, actually did very well but got adhd too!
Diagnosed with Anxiety & Depression in my 20s. I'm 34 now and still struggling to get support with inattentive ADHD. The last 15 years have been a bumpy road of job changes, relationship changes, location changes (across the whole dang country). I can definitely see how it can be traumatic to exist as an adult woman with undiagnosed ADHD.
The picture of the distracted little girl in a sea of raised hands was literally me 😂 when I was in 3rd grade (I was diagnosed in 6th), my teacher did the hand raising thing to get everybody's attention. On one such occasion I was so deep in daydreaming, she had to call my name (possibly multiple times) to bring me back to earth. I saw everyone was raising their hands so I raised mine. My teacher said, jokingly, "I've asked for volunteers for who wants to clean the bathrooms." I thought she was serious for a second and lowered my hand. Funny, but embarrassing 😅
I feel like I need someone (my kind of kind hearted compassionate non judgemental knowledgeable soul) to take me by my hand like I was 5 and start over.... not at 49
I'm listening and relating to this as a 39 year old with late diagnosis, I have to pause it due to the first phonecall of the day from the school that my 12 yo son (who is awaiting assessment)has not listened to instructions and has behaved dangerously. Case in point 😒
I wish I’d known you when I lived in Durham. I was a Hospice nurse that found it helpful to do pottery in my spare time..Also I wish I could slow down the video.
You CAN slow it down! In the top right hand corner of the screen is a cog symbol. Click on that and it gives you a menu which includes playback speed. Click on that and change it to .75 or .50 I generally use it to speed things to 1.25. Very useful!
I just got diagnosed at 42. Starting meds soon. What I don't get is how bad is my ADHD because I'm not like these people on TH-cam. I am a batsht crazy sht show compared to these people. What family, finances, career, kids, etc. How did these people make it through life so normal. My whole life is a mess.
