Set amongst the dense rainforest of Bowen Island, the Forest House is perched upon a bedrock outcrop that makes up much of the island. Designed by Simon Montgomery of SM Studio, the house is for a young family of three seeking a lifestyle change who relocated from Vancouver to Bowen Island, which is just an hours commute away. Forest House aims to provide a true sense of place, connecting them to nature, but also providing a refuge from it in the wetter, winter months.

The way it appears to be cantilevered from the bedrock is so clever and a elegant solution. Great architects have a way of cutting through the design chaos and this is great architecture that respects its beautiful environment!

We have those trees on our property and made sure the house was not too close. Tall, elderly trees with shallow roots could spell disaster at any time. That view is lovely to look at though.
...did I miss sq footage and dimensions? ...roof peak height too is info I am interested in

The name came about when Lucy was visiting her sister & their young daughter was as toddlers go on the roam around their garden .And she mentioned they they were hunting for George (Georgia) And it obviously sounded like a great name for a buisness idea 💡 ❤
It is the leitmotif that offers us some kind of discovering feeling 😊 and a sensation of keep going (I asked myself aswell at the very beggining) 🍁📍🗺️

Very cool, but I always worry houses like this are not very sturdy.
A good design but the finishes are a bit on the cold, antiseptic side for my tastes.
Nice but too big for me.
Guitar was a bit much after awhile. I like your normal music better.

Great House! Horrible room acoustics!!! Too much echo will give you a headache
