New Discoveries at the Western Wall Tunnels

  • Eight stone courses of the Western Wall that had been buried under an 8-meter layer of earth were recently uncovered in excavations conducted by the Israel Antiquities Authority in the Western Wall Tunnels in Jerusalem. These stone courses, completely preserved, are built of massive stones and are outstanding in the quality of their construction.
Furthermore, after the removal of this layer of soil, the archaeologists were surprised to discover that it covered the remnants of an extraordinary theater-like structure from the Roman period confirming historical writings that describe a theater near the Temple Mount. These exciting findings will be presented to the public during a conference titled New Studies in the Archaeology of Jerusalem and its Environs, which will take place at the Hebrew University. This year’s conference will mark 50 years of archaeology since the unification of the city.
At a press conference this morning (Monday) beneath Wilson’s Arch in the Western Wall Tunnels, the stone courses and the amazing remnants of the theater were presented. Apparently, a great deal was invested in the construction of the theater which contained approximately 200 seats. The press conference was conducted with the participation of the Western Wall rabbi, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Israel Antiquities Authority director, Israel Hasson, Western Wall Heritage Foundation director, Mr. Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, Israel Antiquities Authority district archaeologist Dr. Yuval Baruch, and the excavation directors.
From the very beginning of archaeological research in Jerusalem over 150 years ago, scholars have been seeking the public buildings mentioned in the historical sources. Particularly prominent among them, theaters or theater-like structures are mentioned. These descriptions are found in written sources from the Second Temple period (such as Josephus Flavius), and in sources from the period following the destruction of the Second Temple, when Jerusalem became the Roman colony of Aelia Capitolina. Many theories were advanced as to the location of these complexes, but they were without archaeological foundation. That is, until this latest discovery.
Wilson’s Arch is in fact the only intact, visible structure remaining from the Temple Mount compound of the Second Temple period. The arch, built of enormous stones, is the last of a series of such arches that once constituted a gigantic bridge leading to the Temple Mount from the west.
The arch stands high above the foundations of the Western Wall, and it served, among other purposes, as a passageway for people entering the Temple Mount compound and the Temple. A huge aqueduct also passed over the arch.
According to site excavators Dr. Joe Uziel, Tehillah Lieberman and Dr. Avi Solomon: “From a research perspective, this is a sensational find. The discovery was a real surprise. When we started excavating, our goal was to date Wilson’s Arch. We did not imagine that a window would open for us onto the mystery of Jerusalem’s lost theater. Like much of archaeological research, the expectation is that a certain thing will be found, but at the end of the process other findings, surprising and thought-provoking, are unearthed. There is no doubt that the exposure of the courses of the Western Wall and the components of Wilson’s Arch are thrilling discoveries that contribute to our understanding of Jerusalem. But the discovery of the theater-like structure is the real drama.”
The excavators note: “This is a relatively small structure compared to known Roman theaters (such as at Caesarea, Bet She’an and Bet Guvrin). This fact, in addition to its location under a roofed space - in this case under Wilson’s Arch - leads us to suggest that this is a theater-like structure of the type known in the Roman world as an odeon. In most cases, such structures were used for acoustic performances. Alternatively, this may have been a structure known as a bouleuterion - the building where the city council met, in this case the council of the roman colony of Aelia Capitolina - Roman Jerusalem.”
Interestingly, the archaeologists believe the theater was never used. A number of findings at the site indicate this - among them a staircase that was never completely hewn. It is clear that great effort was invested in the building’s construction but oddly, it was abandoned before it was put to use. The reasons for this are unknown, but they may have been connected to a significant historical event, perhaps the Bar Kokhba Revolt; construction of the building may have been started, but abandoned when the revolt broke out. Additional evidence of unfinished buildings from this period has been uncovered in the past in the excavations of the Eastern Cardo in the Western Wall Plaza.

When you take the tunnel tour and see the scale and exquisite craftsmanship of the earliest stages of the wall, you realize that in ancient times something magical was happening that captured the hearts and minds of the earliest people, and directed them on a path of worship that still exists today. This tour is a must for anyone who wants to believe in a higher power and that power's influence on Earth in ancient times. Ancient superior architecture does not lie!

A Knight that says Nee ...my family is Jewish, and the "black BS movement" came about by the Egyptian president wanting to divide the world on who really is in Israel. He stated "why did the Jews leave black and came back white". The fact remains that 77% of them were already there in the surrounding areas and they all wanted them out as did Europe. Israel was a waste land of rock and desert nobody wanted, but once the blessing of Yahweh took over and water flowed by engineering efforts and it turned green the hatred started once again. By Jewish law one drop of blood makes you a full Jew. Their are traces of Jews in every country from Asia to Africa around the globe as a result of the "dispersion", which was another of "God's" plan.
The Son of the most high God stated blatantly that "whosoever hates another is a murderer", this law transcends the Ten Commandments further, just as to "lust is to already commit adultery".
For anyone to judge the Jews as Kazars and hate them will find out at judgement day it is a sin unto death.

Recently they found the remains of the Temple right where it is described to be in old text, down from the roman fort.
it is said the soldiers came down from the Fort to quash the riots at the Temple. The discovery caused much excitement among the Archaeologists involved but when they tried to share it with young Jews they did not want to hear it as if it was blasphemy even though the evidence was right there in front of them, they said if we accept this new evidence then we have nothing left to believe in. So sad that a religion is so fragile that simply admitting they had the location of there Temple slightly wrong would tare there faith apart, slightly wrong that is not it never existed|

The jews didn’t want to acknowledge that the findings in the City of David are the remains of the Temple because Yahushua Hamashiach (“Jesus Christ”) said that it would be completely destroyed:
“As he came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher, what large stones and what large buildings!” Then Jesus asked him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left here upon another; all will be thrown down.””Mark‬ ‭13:1-2
The jews knows that if the Western Wall is not the Temple wall (it isn’t, it belonged to the roman Fort Antonia)‬ ‭than Yahushua’s prophecy was true, which means that He was (is) The Messiah!
That is what rabbinical judaism doesn’t want anybody to know otherwise they will lose their religious status and authority.

The Temple was set on fire which caused the gold of the temple to melt . That is why as is written in the scripture , "not one stone will remain, that is not thrown down" . The temple remains were sifted through . They were looking for the gold that melted between the stones . Even the floor was torn up , looking for the gold . The western wall is a wall the Romans built for a fortress . The city of David in located close by . Look for the water source .As they had to have water for the temple rituals . There is the area of the temple .

The wall shown 1st, the large blocks with rebated edges, are of the same masonry style as the "Western Stone". The original platform,(Aruna's threshing floor) , is the original foundation, completely surrounded and buried by later cultures. It means the whole temple mount will have to be excavated down to this level, the top of the wall of these "Herodian" blocks, far larger than the later Roman ones. Note the steel columns and beams providing a scaffold to support the temple mount built later above.

Listen today more and more archaeologist are trying to gather as much information as possible in a very tight and conversational place to perform archaeological excavations. solely by filtering out old rubble that was dumped to the Kidron valley after renovations were made on the temple mount have exposed interesting archaeological peaces from the times of the Second temple of Herod. you can read more about it
      tmsifting.org/en/
they say that during rare occasion that floor tiles were removed on the temple mount it was quite visible to see old foundations of an earlier massive structure that was constructed, is this parts of the second temple or a later version of the Temple in its Roman days we still far from knowing.

After the Jewish rebellion between 66-135 AD the city of Jerusalem was razed to the ground. The Jews were exiled and prevented to return to the land of Israel on the pain of death. Josephus the historian said the city was so thoroughly destroyed that you could not imagine anyone ever lived there and the only thing left standing was the remains of the Fortress of Antonia. The Romans built a city called Aelia Capitolina where Jerusalem once stood. Jews were forbidden to enter the city. There was no reason to maintain the fort at that point.

Coins found under the Western wall dated at 17 BC supposedly proves that Herod did not build this wall. However, all the walls were dismantled by the Romans in 70 AD and maybe even more extensively in 132 AD, so these walls could have been rebuilt at a later date. Secondly, the "Western wall IS NOT the West wall of Temple Mount but a secondary wall placed about 300 to 350 feet farther West of the Temple Mount. Josephus says that the East wall of the 600 by 600 square compound went down to the base of the Kidron valley. The current South wall of the Temple Mount is over 900 feet long. The Dome of the Rock IS NOT the location of the Temple. The location lines up with the Zechariah Tomb which was made as a marker pointing to the Temple, should it one day be destroyed. Common educated sense! The Romans intentionally destroyed and changed the orientation of the Temple Mount in order to hide it's exact location. Suliman the Magnificent rebuilt an erroneous Muslim-Crusader-Roman compound off of left over remains of many destructions. The placement of the Dome of the Rock over the foundations of a octagonal or hexagonal church skewed his idea of where the perimeter TM Mount walls should be, maybe because he did not have access to Josephus' writings or the Bible, as a reference.

The more you think about it, the more obvious it becomes. Not one stone left upon another, Jesus' description of the Temple's destruction. Then you have all these stones scattered in the city of David, a messy heap. What to do ? Build Antonia with these, why look elsewhere ? Thus Jesus' words are, of course , true plus explains Antonia's stones. The second Temple's stones are still standing But not where they originally were, it's a kind of Divine irony, really. Not One stone standing upon another of the second Temple yet they stand, an edifice of Rome. It's worth a little contemplation.

Israeli Emeritus Professor of History at Tel Aviv University, Shlomo Sand affirms there is no archeological evidence that there was an Exodus from Egypt to Zion, nor a shred of evidence that the kingdoms of David and Solomon existed, and furthermore there’s no evidence of a First Temple plus “the Land of Israel of biblical texts did not include Jerusalem, Hebron, Bethlehem, or their surrounding areas, but rather only Samaria and a number of adjacent areas-in other words, the land of the northern kingdom of Israel. Because a united kingdom encompassing both ancient Judea and Israel never existed, a unifying Hebrew name for such a territory never emerged.”

No you haven’t you are nowhere close to Israel !!!
You will never find anything with Solomon’s name or David etc . You are on the wrong continent how on earth is North Africa the middle or east ???
If you would like to see true Israel I will be happy to show you around !
As for me my king is in Sion
My father is not mocked and your schemes are all for naught
    Praise Jesus

Get rid of the abominable mosque and domes on the temple mount... if you want God to bless you --- and build the third temple --- to bring Him home. (After the anti-Christ desecrates it... plus 1335 days.) 2033 is the dawn of the third "day" (millennium) since our Savior went away.
