The Poppy War has probably been my favourite recommendation I've ever gotten! I don't think I ever would have picked it up otherwise and I am SO glad that I did.
The Temeraire series by Naomi Novik, I never would have picked it up if a friend hadn't recommended it. Also A Queen's Glory by Kristie M Harris, I was gifted this for Christmas, I didn't know I needed this in my life and now I'm (impatiently) waiting for the next in the series 😆 Well done on reading outside of your comfort zone, its something a lot of readers find very difficult and you did very well 😊
loved that little montage of you reading hello beautiful with the outfit changes! i'd have to say my favourite read from a recommendation was the raven cycle:) ty to the internet friend who changed my life 9 years ago with that rec ahaha
Cool you're reading outside your comfortzone on people's recommendation!😮 If I had known the poll was for recommendations I would've put in a different book than the one I got from your videos, hahaha! 😂 (but I'm guessing you just wanted unfiltered favourites? 😁) If I would recommend one away from your fantasy comfortzone, it might be a poetry bundle by Len Pennie; Poyums. Most of her poems are about sexism or an abusive relationship, which sounds rather heavy, but she writes with so much poignancy, with very satisfying timing, rhythm and rhyme (audiobook + ebook at the same time is a recommendation), and fueled by feminine rage and it's just so, SO good. And very often she's also just incredibly funny, you can just HEAR the smirk. It's also poems in both Scots and English, which works very well. I'm generally not one for poetry, but this I can heartily recommend. Of the books you haven't read, this one was my favourite of the year 😁
You may like The Ten Thousand Doors of January more than Starling House. I adore all her books, but Ten thousand Doors is more whimsical and reminds me a bit of The Starless Sea.
