In bronze if you play heimerdinger you just win if you're against melee... Against ranged you need a little bit of knowledge so it prolly won't work most of the times in that elo xD
In Bronze literally every champ is a specialist, as nobody knows what the other champs do or how to play. Same history with new champs that are play on rank because they think: nobody knows what my champ do. But that is double-edge as if you play badly your teammates will report you for try stuff.
@@carlosemiralonso7997 I mean, I know what every other champ does. I hardly doubt that people go in ranked without having a little bit of knowledge about Champs. If It happens that I play against a champ I don"t know (I played against everyone but for example I almost never saw Jayce) I'll just search it up and I swear most people do. It takes just a few normals to understand that you need to know what your opponent does before playing ranked, to play well. Still, a toplaner playing against heimerdinger in bronze (I only played him and never had one against in all of my games) is gonna have a hard time since you have too many ways he does not know about to harass him. Yes they are specialists they are especially made in a way so not everyone is meant to play them cuz everyone know the difference of a good teemo and bad teemo with a bad teemo you forget he exists in game but againts a good teemo you are thinkinf every second that "i wonder if there is a mushroom or not" Almost all of them have easy kits on paper but its really hard to get the most out of them since they play a very unique role that i like and i HATE people who play these champions good but i have infinite amounts of respect towards them
I played a lot of Teemo when the Turbo-tank was the meta in the jungle. "Oh Hecarim wants to step on the gas and jump on me? Here boy, have 20 shrooms in the river to make you think twice"
also a teemo main, but (at least before the new items, so much harder now) I respectfully dont spec for mushrooms. To me they are only slows and extra vision, I went all the way to M7 as an AD teemo, I hide and when you least expect it shoot you in the back a few times, you stay to fight, blind and heal off lifesteal. Eventually bruiser teemo will dominate as long as I dont fall behind in cs/kills, it was all in the later game and getting into their heads. Sadly I have to go more AP now as the new items really do not lend well to this style, but I can support teemo now, good ole doctor teemo.
I love playing Teemo! I love setting up plans where when you manage to make it work it gives you immeasurable satisfaction. Even better when enemies start malding cuz they can't do anything against you anymore
As someone who was always drawn to specialists above anyone else, I finally understand why LoL was such a frustrating game for me to try and learn and progress thru
As a former teemo main I get it 100%, some games you have a great impact, some games you are just throwing shrooms around in case your team fights there.
What I like about Specialists is the fact that, in different ways, you always have relevance at all stages of the game, but if you fall behind you are as useful as a minion. The perfect balance And AP GP is the true GP

@@1lik3Fir33mbl3m I was just joking. In the beginning, Teemo was nightmare for me. But now, I found him so useless. I don't lose lane against a Teemo anymore, and Teemo is useless outside lane, so it's basically playing a 4vs5. Any top laner with a strong engage just makes Teemo obsolete.
I just picked up the game recently and I was having trouble finding the right character. Until I saw fiddlesticks. I didn’t know his abilities or if he was good, I just thought his story and design was cool. I picked him up and quickly found my role as the middlesticks. I’m definitely gonna try more specialists now that I know my favorite character is a specialist
As an ADC Heimerdinger main, I must say that he's the champion that I enjoy the most because of all the things he can do. With some knowledge (and some help from your team) you can obliterate enemy botlane and force early dragons, and the fact of having 3 different ults makes him very versatile on teamfights, so you can zone the enemies, burst them or apply massive CC, depending on the situation. I can adapt, and that's what I love about it. Some specialists mains have told me the same about champs like Teemo or Gangplank: they can adapt and they're fun to play.
Heimy is great once you get the hang of him - his turrets, while fragile, output surprising damage. Still, he's difficult, so like any difficult champion, he's not played much.
There is a difference between heimer "difficult" and thresh "difficult" So no, difficulty has zero reason for why he isn't played. It's a lack of flexibility and gratification for mastering the champ. Thresh, riven, and Lee sin for example, are champs with high skill ceilings and/or floors that make it so when you learn them, they can be utilized in a multitude of ways. Heimer, singed, azir, and teemo all still have difficulty, but when you compare utility to the aforementioned champions with high play rates AND skill capacity, you begin to realize that specialist type are literally incapable of having higher play rates. Signed has one gimmick and no real area in microplay to improve or flex champion knowledge. Noting players like sirchez playing singed, he has an outstanding grasp on macroplay because of the champions he plays.
Yea and I'm still level 10, haven't played ranked yet and I'm practicing heimerdinger from the start since vars said that he's one of the hardest champions to play at a high level of skill, which meant that I would he learning new things even in platinum and above, hope to get good at him soon
Nothings got me grinning ear to ear than popping Zileans max rank E on a melee bruiser and seeing them use ghost, providing little to no change in their speed
Shrooms become distractions after that. Basically Anivia wall while the teemo still autos the person to death. It is also useful for allowing allies to race objectives because the enemy team needs to clear the shrooms or take a slower route. I used this exact strategy just yesterday.
Funny cause they are basically the only class I play, but I can understand why. Most people dont want to learn an entirely new playstyle and you basically have to relearn league just to play them
I'll be honest I one trick Singed since the beginning because of how hard CSing and slow pace laning is, Singed has so much mobility and options (CSing and last hitting were the main reasons). I fell in love with the concept of proxying. The game never feels slow. I do think Singed is the most unique design, too unique in a negative and positive way. I wanted to play something that is "off meta," not the worst and not common, it can hold its own and still win the game, Singed was my answer (this is simply new player syndrome). Too bad Singed loses against other Specialists. Singed does fall off in meta, mainly because he doesn't have a defining optimal item and rune build (which is a good and bad thing), only items are touched in patches making other champs stronger, and simply every champ around Singed is getting buffed. He is the only character that can take almost any item and keystone, and make it useful. Singed is almost never touched to buff or play, "League does not support individuality - Vars," that is so true. Singed is like a mountain, the mountain for the most part stays the same, but everything around it grows.
As an Azir main, I usually just try to wait for my team to engage first and when the enemy starts backing away i dash in to bring them back. At least then I'm actually sure my teammates have my back and I dont have to be disappointed with the expectation that my team would engage when I do it first.
Thank you for the video! Now I pretty understand, why playing such champs as Azir sometimes are pretty hard, and I do not mean mechanics. Not only enemy team expects anything like Shurima shuffle and all that, but also your allies, what can be a pain in the back.
So with Fiddle, there are other full clear scaling mages and with graves there are midgame bruisers that play similarly to them. The problem applys to nonspecialists as well as if you main jg then playing kindred and ivern will give you no mechanics that could be transfered elsewhere in the role. as someone who mains kindred and was playing her when i first started, i literally couldnt play assasins or bruisers because of how i played and i couldnt play early game or scaling focused charcters because i couldnt get the tempo right. Its not just specialists who have this problem.
I just started playing and I absolutely love playing is Hiamerdinger. I understand him well enough to where I can consistently win but I still lose a lot. Despite this not being a Hiamerdinger video, still got a lot of useful information from this. Thank you for the help! :)

@@VarsVerum Maybe not a podcast, perhaps some more retrospective content 🤔Either way I just enjoy hearing all your thoughts on these champs, great to throw on in the background
When playing teemo there's nothing more satisfying than knowing your shrooms are causing them stress, or seeing them hesitate because they fear you're invisible close by when you're across the map
Its notable how these classes are defined by itemization almost way more than by playstyle. Azir and Kayle are basically AP-ADcarries. Gangplank is kind of a burst mage or ability bruiser but builds crit. True specialists imo have a very unique playstyle like Singed or Heimerdinger its inconcievable that someone like Aurelion Sol or Kalista arent specialists for this reason.
The two things I think making singed struggle a bit are the itemization and the prevalence of counter toplaners. You can overcome this sure but often you're fighting from behind
I think the problem with specialists is that once a player played against one they remember their playstyle much more, because it is so unique (and usually centered around one ability/property). I am a Gold 4 toplaner and Teemo is not a problem because I learned quickly to play around his ult or passive.
My guess would be that his kit is like the opposite of flexibility, with 4 out of 5 of his abilities is just damage and more damage. This kind of kit works better for a botlaner, with a support providing more utilities. And, Iirc, he has quite good winrate as an APC. Futhermore, I think games nowaday usually don't last long enough for him to become an actual menace.
@@cedrusnguyen5188 Yes I agree Veigar is more of a mix to late game champ and I can most games end by 25 min or mostly by one or other team ffing I feel veigar is one of the most overlooked champs when it comes to scaling potential !
A minute in and i feel attatcked both for my gaming character preferences and my own personality 😭 the candy examples took me out cause of how relatable they are. I love the flavors people leave behind, they’re always my favorites. I’m a heimer one trick and a big fan of banana laffy taffy. And if I’m ever presented with jolly ranchers, the automatic choice is grape.
I saw Cho'gath on there as a specialist and he was mentioned exactly once showing he can go tank or burst mage. I don't feel like he's that much of a specialist. The others definitely make sense and many of them do have unique playstyles.
I love how Vars always explains everything 328289583219 times so that people don't misundertand stuff and get offended when he mentions their specific champ :3
Teemo one trick here. The main objetive of the Swift Scout is making the enemy team tilt their brains out, especially in solo lanes. If you do it right, you'll unlock his hidden ability: Global Taunt, the laner's tilt gets transferred to the rest of their team. The enemy will try to kill you on sight, regardless of the dangers, which, of course you'll take advantage of by leading them to a bait/mushroom. Winning is just a bonus for destroying your enemies' mental health.
7:00 gps weakness is that his burst is diffusable. While yes you can just walk out of its range, gangplank can easily chain barrels to hit anyone in the backline. Edit: specialists are hated by the enemy because they require a change in play style and mentality and hated by their own team because they usually do not add much to a team comp and can be easily countered with proper macro
as a heimer main, I went on a 7 losing streak when I picked him up, but his stunning and killing enemies under turret is really a worth it feeling. tho I’m kinda used to explaining teammate my ability every game
I would add that some champions when played in offroles play like specialists or zone control champions. Best examples are shaco and maokai when played support with ap scaling. When those two champions are played ap, they are far from their traditional playstyle of assassin for the first and tank for the second, because shaco support lack the burst of an assassin and maokai support lack the resistances of a tank.
This was part of why original karma's kit was reworked. No one understood how to work with her tether even though it was incredibly powerful albeit clunky when used effectively. It was so fun clotheslining an entire team and doing big dmg and drastically slowing them all with a cooperative teammate.
Teemo is really funny to me cuz I'm fairly sure outside of his shrooms he's just kinda outdated. Like he's an ap autoattacker that stops people from autoattacking him and moves kinda fast even though he has no true mobility. Teemos a big fave of mine because he's just so completely braindead outside of his passive and ultimate which are really funny to get working.
After this video I believe that Gwen(my main) is possibly another specialist since unlike every other slayer she has long range projectiles and due to her W she has to play in a very odd way since she will be one shot without it up and positioning it is odd too. I can’t tell if this is due to her being very unique but still a slayer or that she might actually be closer to a specialist.
as a teemo main i feel everyone needs to watch this, specaly the ppl that hate when you pick it or out right ban it when they are your teamates, its not a bad pick its just that they dont know how to play around it, and this is really good information to have out there in my opinion.
Most of the champions I play are specialists. When you're in league for some time, normal playstyles gets stale and specialists are nice to use since the play far different from other champs.
I love Specialists. Well, a few of them anyway. Azir is my main, GP is a champ I would LIKE to main someday, used to play Heimer back in S2, and discovered how much I love Zilean while playing ARAMs. Never cared much for Teemo. Playing against or playing as it doesn't matter, I just don't have fun lol. Oh, and Cho'Gath! I love playing Cho. :)
I generally disagree with a large amount of the inclusions within the specialist class. While Kayle has a large play style difference pre and post 6 the difference between kayle and most marksmen is less than some marksmen and each other. Kayle plays very similarly to Jinx post 6 and pre 6 kayle doesn't really deviate from that. Teemo again is essentially a marksman except his kiting potential comes from the slow and damage the mushrooms produce and the speed boost on e. The traps, while important should not be considered enough to change his class or else Jhin who also plays around his traps would be a specialist. I do not see what makes heimer fundamentally different than say anivia. While his uniqueness comes from his turrets, if we weren't looking at them his kit functions very similarly to anivia. If we do look at his turrets and point to them why is yorick, annie, or ivern not included? It is because despite their unique method of achieving their goal they still achieve it. Also cho'gath is a specialist? How is he anything but a tank?
As a Zilean main, yeah, some people don't know how to play with you, like, you stun both the adc and the supp and give speed to your adc, the adc runs to escape, the lane kills you, and your adc starts pinging your ult, even if reviving wouldn't be helpful since you're trapped there
As a guy thats been playing singed/teemo since season 9 I have to be honest I do it mainly to hurt my enemies not only in game but cause them actual deep psychological pain I take great pride in seeing the enemy team have 5 sweepers when I play teemo or seeing them die a slow death with the DoT you deal as those champs. Something satisfying just seeing that.
i think illaoi would fit there, because even tho she CAN be a bruiser, you can build tank or just really mixed itens, the thing is, she plays lane as a cheeser and whole gameplay relies on hitting your E
I just realized that I love specialist because of the build options but now I realized that I hate this season because of how limited I feel with building options

He just shits on the comedy gas man, because he counters his fav picks like Riven and such. Totaly bias, this man.

@@Abfallkannibale ew not riven, i respect teemo mains more than them
@@theokayguy360 Riven require a bit of practice with her combos before playing her decently, and she's like all those stat-check bruisers. I don't really mind her
@@H2SO4pyro True, but frankly she's been over tuned for years at this point. Just check her higher rank win rates, basically the same with Wukong when he was op but she never got the nerf he did. Not to mention because of her stacked kit, similar to newer champions, she can never be balanced between too strong and bad. (I've never seen her bad but I'm sure she was at one point.)
@@theokayguy360 Riven was bad when tanks were considered "op", because they didn't die to champs like Riven. The same people picked Fiora in response and kept complaining while hard-carrying with gifted crits + true dmg. Top lane is a meme for a reason.
Meanwhile in Bronze, literally can't go a day without seeing them.
You just need to be good at skillshota
@@blveskj2372 The reason for my commentary is exactly that. Everyone i talk to, seem to known everything about the game, just in ranked they fail to apply...

Or even tho I know what other champions abilities are, I can' T predict where or when they are gonna use them and I'm not really good at dodging some Champs (like xerath)

Teemo is one of my 3 mains. Nothing is more satisfying than the random kills when you are not even in a fight.
also a teemo main, but (at least before the new items, so much harder now) I respectfully dont spec for mushrooms.

I’m definitely gonna try more specialists now that I know my favorite character is a specialist
lol at the Nid at 5:30 with the pocket Yumi so hard to counter that bs
As an ADC Heimerdinger main, I must say that he's the champion that I enjoy the most because of all the things he can do. With some knowledge (and some help from your team) you can obliterate enemy botlane and force early dragons, and the fact of having 3 different ults makes him very versatile on teamfights, so you can zone the enemies, burst them or apply massive CC, depending on the situation. I can adapt, and that's what I love about it. Some specialists mains have told me the same about champs like Teemo or Gangplank: they can adapt and they're fun to play.
Hearing people hating on teemo and singed just makes me want to play them more
Heimy is great once you get the hang of him - his turrets, while fragile, output surprising damage. Still, he's difficult, so like any difficult champion, he's not played much.
Difficulty has multiple aspects
There is a difference between heimer "difficult" and thresh "difficult"
So no, difficulty has zero reason for why he isn't played.
Apologies for the essay
Yea and I'm still level 10, haven't played ranked yet and I'm practicing heimerdinger from the start since vars said that he's one of the hardest champions to play at a high level of skill, which meant that I would he learning new things even in platinum and above, hope to get good at him soon

Singed is like a mountain, the mountain for the most part stays the same, but everything around it grows.
singed gives you a deep understanding of the macro game, thanks to using it so much I feel like I really understood how to carrie after going 0/6
The Jolly Rancher story at the beginning was so cute :D
As an Azir main, I usually just try to wait for my team to engage first and when the enemy starts backing away i dash in to bring them back. At least then I'm actually sure my teammates have my back and I dont have to be disappointed with the expectation that my team would engage when I do it first.
Or when enemy is near your tower🤣 you can hear the enemy scream even if he's on the other side of the world.

Me waiting for Kayle in this video
/ OwO /
Its notable how these classes are defined by itemization almost way more than by playstyle. Azir and Kayle are basically AP-ADcarries. Gangplank is kind of a burst mage or ability bruiser but builds crit. True specialists imo have a very unique playstyle like Singed or Heimerdinger its inconcievable that someone like Aurelion Sol or Kalista arent specialists for this reason.
It appears as if specialists specialize in being not being played
Most of them at least as some of them like Graves and Nida specialize in being played
The two things I think making singed struggle a bit are the itemization and the prevalence of counter toplaners. You can overcome this sure but often you're fighting from behind
Heimer main here!
Me 2 :D
I think the problem with specialists is that once a player played against one they remember their playstyle much more, because it is so unique (and usually centered around one ability/property). I am a Gold 4 toplaner and Teemo is not a problem because I learned quickly to play around his ult or passive.
Why no one plays Veigar Day 99 :)
Bruh a part time veigar player I'm offended !!
@@cedrusnguyen5188 Yes I agree
Veigar is more of a mix to late game champ and I can most games end by 25 min or mostly by one or other team ffing

As a Quinn and Kyle Top Laner ... I feel Respected.
I saw Cho'gath on there as a specialist and he was mentioned exactly once showing he can go tank or burst mage. I don't feel like he's that much of a specialist. The others definitely make sense and many of them do have unique playstyles.
I love playing specialists, I play a lot of singed, azir, and heimerdinger.
They're fun idk why but they are to me
14:00 whoa that's some hot take lol. I like playing 3/5 of those mentioned champs. The yordles
I feel that yorick is in this category also. Very niche pick and you need to play around his graves/maiden timer with both macro and micro plays.
7:00 gps weakness is that his burst is diffusable. While yes you can just walk out of its range, gangplank can easily chain barrels to hit anyone in the backline.
Edit: specialists are hated by the enemy because they require a change in play style and mentality and hated by their own team because they usually do not add much to a team comp and can be easily countered with proper macro
why did you forgot some thing like katarina when she has at least 3 official build with different style?
from a katarina main
my 3 favourite classes for the end, keep up the good work babe
That jolly rancher metaphor was truly genius
as a heimer main, I went on a 7 losing streak when I picked him up, but his stunning and killing enemies under turret is really a worth it feeling. tho I’m kinda used to explaining teammate my ability every game
I want a video talking about Poke Mages.
To the midlane to support role because we get countered by existing
So, just now figuring out what links all my most played champs…
For those who want the music name it's Dusk Falls, from Fire Emblem Fates.
Most of the champions I play are specialists. When you're in league for some time, normal playstyles gets stale and specialists are nice to use since the play far different from other champs.
Great vídeo and editing, cheers from Brazil
I love Specialists. Well, a few of them anyway. Azir is my main, GP is a champ I would LIKE to main someday, used to play Heimer back in S2, and discovered how much I love Zilean while playing ARAMs.
Never cared much for Teemo. Playing against or playing as it doesn't matter, I just don't have fun lol.
Oh, and Cho'Gath! I love playing Cho. :)
i main gp and then learned azir :3, learning azir made me better at gp so maybe it will do the same to u in reverse
Something satisfying just seeing that.
i think illaoi would fit there, because even tho she CAN be a bruiser, you can build tank or just really mixed itens, the thing is, she plays lane as a cheeser and whole gameplay relies on hitting your E
was thinking about this almost everything he said makes a champ a specialist fits her
I've mained specialist since season 1 due to how flexible you can be with their builds. They're the best part of league. ^-^
