  • The offshore drilling platform Berkut is one of the largest in the world. It is located 25 kilometers from Sakhalin Island on the shelf in the Sea of Okhotsk. This is a huge fully autonomous plant on giant reinforced concrete piles, which not only drills new wells, but also extracts several thousand tons of oil every day from a huge depth. The platform is able to withstand 18-meter waves, withstand temperatures down to -44 C° and the pressure of ice fields up to 2 meters thick. During the construction of the platform, for the first time in the world, a seismic protection system was used, which makes it possible to withstand an earthquake with a power of 9 points without loss of performance.

    *_This was the BEST video I have ever seen about giant offshore oil platforms..._*
    Many thanks to those who made this video possible. The rig has a life of it's own. Humans have specific roles that keep it all working 24/7/365. Ask any Navy the most important room onboard any ship... everyone will say it's the dining room. It serves multiple purposes; social, emergency, physical, even psychological. When crews are stuck at sea for extended stays, anything that can remind people of 'home' is beneficial.
    *_Thanks again for this excellent video... Гигантский плавучий город в Тихом океане._*

    Estas plataformas, tanto en desuso reformadas, como nuevas más sencillas, son ideales para la extracción y transformación en electricidad, de dos sistemas energéticos renovables totalmente compatibles como son la energía eólica Offshore, en hibridación con la undimotriz. Sistemas no contaminantes, que pueden durar más tiempo que la extracción del crudo, pueden generar miles de puestos de trabajo fijos y de calidad, pueden generar energía hasta 40 ó 50% más que la Onshore y que en definitiva pudiendo almacenar excedentes, son mucho más eficientes, además de favorecer la economía circular.

      How deep is the ocean below these oil rigs? I know the oil is much further beneath, but how deep do they have to go to set up the oil rig platform?

    • @pauldiplock205
      @pauldiplock205 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@whatta7793 the water depth varies from shallow to hundreds of feet. That has no bearing on the depth of a well which can be many thousands of feet and stretch away from the platform. Well depth is measured in vertical depth and measured depth which could be five miles.

      Is that why the earth is greening according to NASA? If we didn’t drill and burn hydrocarbons for energy our atmosphere would be so low in Co2 that plants would struggle to grow. Humans are not a cancer, but just part of the ecosystem just like an ant or a elephant, bacteria or even a cancer cell. You can thank me later for easing your anxiety.
