I m also using ultra grinder same model with timer since 5 years. No problem till now. It has overload protection too. If grinder gets overheat, it will switch off automatically for 20 mins.

U can grind rice and use that to make kolams. You really don't have to throw it. Grind it thick and pour as drops on a plastic sheet or cloth and allow it to completely dry and store it. Whenever you require put few in a bowl add water in few mins it will dissolve now make ur kolam
