I have been watching the channel since the beginning of 2024. I became aware of it after watching History Underground for some time and after watching the Angels of Mercy episode, then buying the book written by Woody which I highly recommend. I was one of those who thought he was subscribed but until recently discovered I was not. WW2TV is by far the most informative WW2 history channel on TH-cam and I hope will continue for many years. Keep up the good work Woody.
It’s crazy that less than 50% of your viewers subscribe to your channel! It’s the easiest thing anyone can do to help you out. I rarely catch a live show, but I at least try to watch one a day. I’ll do what I can to help by sharing videos and leaving more comments. I really enjoy this channel and I will do what I can to help promote it.
Woody mentioned Operation Dragoon. I'm currently sitting looking at the chassis of a Sherman tank on La Nartelle Beach, Saint Maxime, near Saint Tropez. I'll be in Bayeux for a couple of days in mid-August.
There are a lot of recently added channels that deliver content on the second world war. People in the 60+ age group are inherently interested, but our numbers are shrinking- and the interest wanes in younger generations. In America all of us 60+ people grew up with the main stories (Pearl Harbor, Midway, Battles of Britain and the Bulge, etc.) but what catches my interest are the stories within those stories. That's where your channel excels. Along with WW2 TV I also subscribe to Rob at HE, JD at History Underground. (JD recommended WW2 TV.)
Arrrr, don't remind me! Im 69 and when I was a kid EVERYONE's father, provided he was 17 through 35 during the war was a veteran. Some had fantastic souvenirs and some like me, my dad had a 25% disability for a souvenir. A training accident while training a new recruit how to work on a B17 radial engine left him with a broken wrist. It was put in a cast and turned gangrenous. They saved the hand and anchored it to his arm bones because the wrist bones were gone. But the Army Air Corps needed trained me so they took Sgt. James Leverette (all branches of military then called you by first name regardless of what you were called at home) was sent to Langley, trained to be an ordinance non com who's job was to know what kind of bombs that each bomber had when they went out on anti Uboat patrols, and then what they came back with. Then he would relay that information one plane at a time as they came in for a landing, to the ground crews who would remove the bombs and make them safe again. This was a big deal because each type of bomb and bomb size had different trailers to load them on. This had to be done quickly. So it was an important job, and considering the death rate of bomber crews, that broken wrist may have been a gift. Funny thing, a few years after the war he met my mom who had also gotten gangrene from being in a plaster cast and had her entire fight calf muscle removed and her foot anchored to her lower leg bones. They were both very good looking, Dad had his photo taken while he was recuperating from the break, to show how happy and well fed and entertained GIs were in the hospitals. Mom had a burn mark on her right leg and was discovered by a talent agent because her beauty stood out so much. He made an appointment for her to do a screen test but recommended that she have the scar removed, which led to the gangrene. I asked her, since she was a civilian in college what she thought when D-Day was announced. She spoke honestly and said that there were so many terrible things happening around the world and daily death notices that sometimes listed boys she knew, that here on the home front it was not a stand out event. I had asked her because I have been fascinated by D-Day and the time right after that, and saw it as the biggest thing the Allies did in the entire century. But her answer was a disappointment.
@@LeveretteJamesClifford1955 Your story is amazing. My Dad was in Carrier Pilot training, but the war ended before he deployed. He was lucky, but three uncles were not. Two were Marines and saw action on Iwo Jima, another was a cook on the Lexington when she went down in the Coral Sea. These guys would get together on weekends for cookouts and to play cards. Sometimes they talked about the war, but most times they didn't. They were survivors and just grateful to be alive.
Plus plus! I reccomend your shows to all my friends intrested in WW2, so they can learn more than from Mark Felton! :) /Cheers! from probly one of the youngest viewers ('94)
missed this when it was live - darn work getting in the way. so happy i can still view when i am free and can catch up. thank you Woody for all that ou do, it is so very much appreciated. All Hail Woody!!!
I agree about "shorts". I am sick of them clogging up my screen with their best click-bait. They may work for cute kitten channels but WW2 TV has heavyweight subjects and presenters and "shorts" can never do them reasonable justice. (Perhaps the best compromise might be a presentation on "SonderKätzchen der Waffen-SS"?)
Along with most regulars here, I'm in for the duration. Quality will always rise to the top Woody, so keep on building for the long term. For example, the recent programme on Operation Spring as a four-way conversation between experts really added another dimension. A logistical nightmare probably, but definitive content.
Woody, you are a great guy and a good "amateur historian" ! I am now a member of your channel at the lowest level (what I can afford) and of course, I am subscribed and I try to like. My father was a captain in the US Army and was in artillery. He said very little about the war, which was common in the USA. Hang in there, it will get better !!
Yes, I’ve noticed TH-cam seems to want to watch what they want you to watch not what you want to watch it’s becoming very annoying. Thanks so much for Michael.
You deserve every success.....I watch more channels on TH-cam than normal television.....and yours is definitely one of the best....the level of quality in the presentations as well as the very niche areas covered.....after following your channel for a couple of years....I realised how little ww2 really gets covered in the mainstream....keep it up 🙌🙌🙌🙌
You do fantastic work Sir! I Enjoy all your work. Your guest’s are fantastic. You are adding to the collective history knowledge essential to maintain democracy.
Woody, thanks for the info. I’ll start watching on my desktop (while not signed in) even if I can’t pay attention. I’ll start commenting regularly too. Your channel is too good not too get to 100k and beyond!
The background we get with WW2TV is amazing, and your visiting speakers and correspondents are extraordinarily well informed and great communicators, enthusing me for one amongst many.😊
I think it's also important to note that you are not driven by finances but by the passion for sharing that massive repository of knowledge in your head. There is no downside to subscribing, it's free, it takes one second and it unlocks a huge font of knowledge and history! Everyone here should subscribe.
Paul, I've not been able to watch for months but I'll be back to see ALL of your videos. I won't "play them in the background" usually because I want to give each video my full attention. God Bless and God Speed.
Dear Woody, if I was the last person watching and supporting WW2TV I would continue to encourage you to persevere. I have been a student of this subject since about 1969 give or take a few years. I highly value this channel for the honesty and relevance it represents to many. If you ever decide that you must add advertisements, as Dracinifel has done, I would still support and watch your channel. I only wish that I had resource such as this as a youth and later on. Carry on by all means. I shall begin watching many of the earlier videos as you suggest. It's just a matter of making the time. Press on as a good soldier does!
Hi Woody just discovered your great WW2 channel in the just 6 months, I find the wide range of topics & videos very interesting & informative, keep up the great work 👏
Woody, I always enjoy your content. Remain stoic, do not panic or get desperate if monetization slows temporarily, focus on improving the product, especially any little things to make it easier for people to enjoy. Stoicism will push you through a low period to new heights. Your content is great, you have nothing to worry about, now make it even better and more accessible and more success will come your way.
That notification bell is important. Last night I was awake at 2am and I got a bell notification about your episode on Don Fox's Breakout and Pursuit by the 4th Armored. I would have kicked myself bloody if I had missed that. One of my favorite authors, one of my favorite topics. I would have missed it if not for the little notification that popped up!
Thank you Woody for the suggestions on how to support you. I am already a subscriber and receive notifications, but honestly I do fall behind on viewing. Will follow your suggestions for sure! I discovered you during COVID, love specifically your coverage of Band of Brothers content,. My favorites are your book "Angels of Mercy" and your hosting the BoB series with Alina and Alex on History Hack. Both brought me a lot of comfort during the darkest early days of COVID. Thank you!
Love this channel. Cant imagine not being a subscriber and missing out on all the great content. Keep at it woody, I'm absolutely sure subscriptions are going to snowball based on the consistently high quality content, regardless of the current lull👍
Discovered your channel somewhat recently (just this year), and I've already found it to be both a great source of entertainment and knowledge. I've loved history since I can remember, but I've only recently started taking the hobby a bit more seriously, and your channel has been a great help with that. It's a very good jumping-off point to find more resources, and has gotten me interested in topics I never would have otherwise considered. I very much appreciate the perspectives both you and your guests offer. Keep doing what you do, keeping history alive-and I’ll do my best to help you keep on doing it with the advice you gave!
i Woody great to hear all the new shows coming up and glad to hear WW1TV coming back, keep up the great work. I always hit the like button after watching so surprised to see how few do, I will be more constant in leaving comments in the future, cheers.

The algorithm pops them up randomly, and they just clutter up the listings. I’m not going to waste time stopping to cue up a short when I’ll eventually listen to the whole thing. Your stuff is very good. Thank you. The algorithm sent me to you, probably from Drachinifel. So I listen to your material - and some other folks - when I’m not writing.

I am adding comments to all new streams I am watching and going back to previous ones where I just clicked the like button. like some of the others I found your channel during the pandemic and it reignited my interest in WW2
Thank you very much, commenting really helps
@WW2TV I will share the upcoming one on Market Garden with my Uncle his father was in the British arbourne at Arnhem
There will be several Market Garden shows in September, I just haven't listed them all yet
Gotta feed the algorithm! I know the struggle all too well.
Indeed you do
@@WW2TV I’m glad you’ll be able to push on as I might not be able to for much longer. My numbers are rough.
I am hoping this is just a lull and things will improve
@@WW2TV Hope so
Woody, I'm only seeing the upcoming, which is as it should be, but I'm subscribed on WW2TV, and Brad's channel as well, and I get heads up on all
thats was good, learnt lots, brilliant 🙂
Wot he said!
