I remember when I first played Far Cry. It was one of those moments where a video game's tech completely blew me away. I had never seen anything so good before.
And holy shit, even today it looks better than some games, farcry forever

Far Cry, oh boi do i love Far Cry.
Nice video. This is the Real far cry, before ubisoft took the IP and name away from its original developers (pretty lame to adopt the title for a totally unrelated game).
Crysis is the true successor to far cry (made by the same team), not far cry 2.
And hell this game is very very hard and punishing. Those monsters are like with ultra instinct which can sense you from afar. And they are extremely deadly even on the easiest difficulty.
Don't get me started on the Dam level

6:56 I'm pretty sure that was meant to be seen, they just fucked up with the metal grate texture. The solid black parts were probably meant to be transparent. Similar to the ones on the floor right after, at 7:25.
On a side note, I'd enjoy seeing the other Far Cry games.
13:42 That room is used to hide the last group of mercenaries. They exit the room as soon as we pass a trigger point. Most likely it was done to avoid situations when those mercenaries would try to kill the player or mutants at the bottom of crater. And just like level "Factory", level "Volcano" supposed to be larger and you can find some hidden rooms in the lab complex if you no-clip to the overpass that can be found next to the armory.
There is a very weird thing in that room at the end of the game, if you switch on your flaslight, it can actually create shadows behind objects. So Cryengine was able to do that, but for some reason the creators cut out that feature from the game.

How are you getting far cry to work i have a windows 10 PC the GoG, Steam and Uplay version launch then on the start screen crash.

i randomly tried to boot the game and it just worked (this being after i bought the PS3 version)
Got to love gaming on PC.
But in Far Cry 3 you can glitch out of the world easily though. There's some temples where you can go under the stairs out into nothingness.
Awesome video, but I would just like to point out, that you missed a pretty big unused area in the last mission. It's located above the room, to which you take the elevator after fighting dr. Krieger (it's the section where the big armory is located). There are unused toilet rooms and conference rooms and they are mostly unfinished.

Yes i also wish someone will get inspiration from it since it is the only game i replay every single year since it's was release.
this game from 2004 was very advanced for its time. and has very long creative campain that feels open world, with lots of fun and no repetition, i just complete the story today, on my second playthrough, first time was 2005, i had nvidia 6600gt then. still looks good and ai is really smart . in my opinion it is the most enjoyable far cry game.

Additional Info: If you look at Wall Clocks you can see REAL TIME values. That means if you play this on 3 PM the watch shows you this time ;)

If you actually take a closer look at 6:10 . Its actually the map of the mission Rebellion. The mission after Control
I passed this game more than ten times... some missions more than 30 times. Great game.

The last mercenaries come out of this room, if the alarm is activated.
If you quickly noclip there right before the last checkpoint, you'll see the mercs come out of there. :D

The last door in Doyle's room: I can't remember the circumstances but I faintly do remember some soldiers spawning there and coming out to protect him. I might be wrong though.

That last mystery room was originally filled with all the soldiers you meet just outside. I found that out via the level editor.
Far Cry 1 and Far Cry 2 still are the best... FC3 also was fun but still FC1 made world WOW. Graphics, Physics... And praying to run this game on own comouter 😁 System Requirements were from hell haha
I always loved to do this kind of things with good old Unreal. I liked to explore skyboxes and similar things :)

There are two Easter eggs you missed the pig driving a car in fort level and 3 skeletons at the start that have 2 grenades a pistol,a mechete and body armor located in the factory level.
I played this game over and over again for 14 years. seems like i have to play it again

At bunker level they've closed a hidden passage at the bottom of the stairs that leads into that sort of control room where there is one trigen.
No one seem to have found that...

in the mission rebelion, when you get to the big building at the end, if you gly on top of the mountain there is a breakeable window randomly floating there

One of my favorite game :D I loved to mess around with the Trigens XD You can watch the FC1 cut scenes through the map in the Editor, which I played a lot with, so a lot is no secret or surprise for me :) The grill in Control is a glitch, you were supposed to look through it. If you're good at picture editing, you can edit the Texture, and look through it. ;)

The unused sound clips would indicate that the airstrip was placed there because the nuke was initially supposed to be big enough to wipe out the whole archipelago and Jack and Val were supposed to fly off the place and the game would end there. I suppose it was their trump card in case developers ran out of time. Because it didn't happen we have the following plotholes: Nuke was supposed to be Krieger's reset button but was only big enough to destroy 1 facility out of many; hardly a trump card. Doyle was able to move pretty freely so he didn't need a rescue. Going out of the way to kill Krieger instead of dropping a nuke in there is just plain stupid, considering that you still have to drop a nuke in there to wipe out the mutants.
Yes, the nuke was supposed to be more powerful, and Jack & Val were supposed to get on an airplane. But the explosion would still catch them up and they would crash on another island where they would be found by Krieger. After it we still would have to go through "Dam" and "Volcano" levels.
Nice, i was also hoping you show us outside the map, oh well. I can't wait until the day you play FC Primal and show me those mountains up close.
I find these really interesting, I would like to suggest Far Cry: Instincts. I feel like there would be many things to investigate and compare the quality to the first game.

@@SlippySlides Late to the party, but the giant carrier ship you have to destroy in the boat level has a Macedonian flag on the back and Cyrillic letters.

The room at the end has a use. The enemies that are guarding doyle are there but its rare to see that , i got it on first try but then i had to do more to get it. Also in last mission i found easter egg myself i can share with you, i havent found it on internet yet, not even youtube. If you have steam you can add me my name crusader1351 but anyway very nice video, bringed me back good old memories to this game :)

9:25 ... why do objects have to exist on the map somewhere prior to being called into the game ? Why cant they just materialise when required ? You have both the chopper and crowe in that depression.
Due to optimization reasons. This way the game doesn't have to extract additional information from a hard drive and developers don't have to worry about micro-freezes. Remember that this the game was released in 2004. At that time most people had single core CPUs in their PCs and HDDs of that time were multiple times slower then modern SATA SSD, which are also pretty slow compared to M.2 SSDs.
