Natural Norfolk - violent seas at Cromer during Storm Corrie

  • In the second in my series of Natural Norfolk films (just using ambient sounds recorded at the time), I spent an exhilarating couple of hours on Cromer seafront, North Norfolk, filming and recording the sounds of the huge waves as they smashed into the sea wall during Storm Corrie.
I have filmed at this spot many times, am very aware of the dangers of rough seas and didn't put myself (or my camera) in any danger, I filmed this mostly in the protection of a promenade shelter which meant I stayed dry as did my camera.
I hope you enjoy watching the amazing power of the North Sea as much as I do.
Shot on Panasonic Lumix GH5, with 3 Legged Thing Ray tripod, sounds recorded on Zoom H4N Pro.

Thanks for sharing this. My class have just started descriptive writing on seas, lighthouses and oceans so this is absolute gold! Most of them know Cromer so really super for them to see it at winter rather than summer (being Leicestershire based).

Ah that's great Julie-Ann! I have a few more films about the local seas around here so feel free to use any of them for your class too!

Wow that really shows the force of the waves and why it is never a good idea to take risks with the sea.
Great film, thanks for sharing it.

Thanks Roger, been along there this morning, a fair amount, a couple of flints the size of my head, wouldn't fancy being under them when they rain down.

Fantastic video. Shows the raw power of mother nature. It must have technically been a difficult video to shoot so great job. Thanks for sharing, liked and subscribed. Cheers.SAA

On one of our many trips to Cromer, my partner stood very close to the wall next to the pier. Next thing, a huge wave came up and over the wall all over her. How I laughed.
