  • Hello to all of you beautiful people. In this video I need to go back to San Diego to address my broken little finger, because it’s been a month since I broke it and I haven’t had any follow up other than the ER visit. I soon find out that I need to have surgery to get it fixed. Before leaving Hawaii we do a couple of DYI projects. I’m Back in Hawaii and life is good. A game of bingo, walks in nature, drone footage, dancing in the rain, and an overall view and education on Mountain Apples, since my tree is blooming like mad. Thank you for being here.

Aloha from Kona! Ok I've lived in Hawaii most of my life, and how did I not know that Ohia was mountain apple? 😮😮😮 Seriously? I lived in HPP and Hilo and now in Kona. I miss the east side a lot. Your videos make me want to move back. They are so relaxing and your voice so soothing!! I was able to fold all my laundry and do my dishes while listening!! Mahalo! ❤ i am glad your hand is doing better. 😊

What a blessing having such a gorgeous fruit tree in your garden🌳🍎! I am relieved you're healing properly after surgery👍. About anxiety and trauma... I can't write here in details but I can tell you what works for me: I divide worries in 2 categories, the ones I can't control I try to overcome with rational thinking, meditation and stress relieving activities; the others I analyze and identify what I can do to prepare for the worst case scenario and... prepare! Love your energy, looking forward to your next video🌴😀

Aloha and thank you so much for your comment. I like your technique of dividing things up in your mind. I would have never thought of it. I’ve done some compartmentalization of other things but this is very smart what you are doing. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know about it. I’ll give it a try. I live in Pahoa and came from San Diego about 30 years ago. I too go through anxiety so much so that unlike you, I rarely go out in public. I too have long hair and retired. Aloha Chela. So wonderful to hear that you also live in Pahoa, and originally from San Diego. What part of San Diego were you from? This is such a small world. Thank you for sharing your anxiety story with me. It really does help to hear others, and hope you have found a way to deal with it. So sorry to hear about your shoulder, and I imagine it’s very painful. In general I am a home body as well, and feel safest in the house, but am able to be out, but the crowder it gets, the worse my anxiety gets. Hope to run in to you one day. I walk everyday, sometimes twice a day and try exploring different streets. I’ve run in to several people who recognized me from my videos. May your anxieties subside, and mahalo for watching.

Nastaran, we came from Vista. I wish I could give you my number so we can text or call, but I’m not sure about the privacy here. You asked me how I deal with my anxiety and to be honest I only deal well with it by not being around crowds.I’m a homebody. I cook, garden, read and paint. Once in a while I craft and knit. I also take care of a crazy and very naughty little boy named Quito. Quito for chiquito. He’s a chihuahua. I hope your finger is getting better. Be careful out there, but enjoy your island journey my friend.

Recently made our move to Big Island…its natural beauty is breathtaking. I now live in Waikoloa Village. Exploring the beaches on west side is fun. I will make my way over to Pahoa someday soon. Wow, I hadnt listened to all your video before commenting earlier. Please be very careful on your walks or working in your yard. Trust your instincts. I was attacked while walking with a friend on a public walking path in Kona! It was so fightening! Especially thinking you are safe with 2 people in a public space. It isn't good to say when you are here alone either. Also, when I lived in Hawaiian Paradise Park (HPP) 2 men and a woman drove right into my yard between myself and my daughter and tried to kidnap my then 4-5 yr old daughter. I was never so thankful for having a dog then at the moment!! It growled and snarled so viciously that they both jumped back in the car and left. So good to follow your instincts and be uncomfortable and protect yourself, it may be innocent but it may not be. It may be a good idea to get a dog for your safety and to help with 😢 anxiety. Just a thought. Im loving your videos as it brings me back to the East side!! ❤ Mahalo and take care! 😊

During my time going through Mena pause, I experienced anxiety attacks like I never before had. My body would visibly shake and cry uncontrollably. It absolutely wore me out. And did a bad timing choice. At that time, we sold a house and made our first attempt to move to Hawaii, which didn't workout (long story) and had sold everything, came back to Oklahoma and bought and remodeled a barn into a house. My poor husband had to treat me like a child and made me get to work to finish the project even though I was in extreme anxiety. Of course, it was better for me to get to work which got my mind off what I was going through. I probably should have been on medication but survived it. Sold that place and made another move to Hawaii, this time more successful and built a cute little house in the rear area of Tiki Gardens. Lived there for 6 years, but ended up coming back to Oklahoma because we missed kids and grandkids too much. And I've greatly missed Hawaii every single day and that was 16 years ago. Got to spend good years with kids and one of our daughters who was nearly 50 passed away. I would not have wanted to give up those years spent with her. Now I am caring for my husband who is in early dementia. I feel stuck at the moment but I will care for him until the end. I am in my 70's and wonder if I will ever make it back to where I know I belong, but we just don't know what the future holds, do we? I just want you to know how much I enjoy your videos and for a few minutes, feel I have returned home. Thank you so much, and hope the very best for you!

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with me. It really does help. Interesting you lived on the big island twice, and I’m sure your memories are so endearing and beautiful. My condolences to you about your daughter. I don’t believe there is a sorrow greater than losing a child. My heart is aching for you. I can’t see how a lot of different issues have set the stage for your anxiety. I’m always thinking “I’ll get better, and it’ll work its way out “ but if it doesn’t I’m open to counseling and/or meds. It makes me happy that my videos take you back even if it’s for a few minutes. Mahalo for watching.

Nastaran - you went the gamut on this version. WOW! Finger fixed to dancing in the rain like Debbie Reynolds and Gene Kelly. That was wonderful! Sadly - anxiety - especially caused by trauma is a curse of us all. I was divorced 4.5 years ago although I didn’t want it. The very next day I had a heart attack and diagnosed with Broken Heart Syndrome and Heart Failure. All brought on by extreme anxiety and stress. I was forced to retire at a younger age than most. Now - I travel and Big Island is my most special place besides Alaska, Western Canada, the PCH from Central California to Seattle. That is what saved me. I am so glad you are physically doing well. Be kind to yourself and Namaste!

@@Nastaran.Battlesi worked in Restaurants in Corporate Management and traveled for work non stop for 25 years. I was away 2 weeks of every month. So when I became ill - I listened to my Doctors and in about a year I was doing better. So I decided to travel for myself and see the world as I can. My Dog Sophie was aging and Ill as well so I took her on a bucket list ride from Holland MI down the Mother Road - Route 66 all the way to Santa Monica then to Redwoods Natl Forest up the PCH through Oregon to Seattle then Mt Rainier through Montana to Devils Monument in Wyoming to the Black Hills for Mt Rushmore in S Dakota then Home. 14 days of Bliss. My Dog passed after Easter that year so I cremated her and took her to Niagara Falls US side as Canada was closed due to Covid. I Gave her a Viking Funeral on the Niagara River.
      Then I couldn’t stop.
I then Spent 2 glorious weeks in Waikaloa at the resort and Drove every single mile I could around the entire island 3 times including Kona, Capt Cook, South Point, many visits to all of Volcanoes National Park, The Black Sand beach just north of there, all of Hilo, Hawi , Wai Pio, kahola, Waimea, and Many trips to Mauna Kea - Mauna Loa was closed.
Then I drove the Mighty Trans Canada Highway east to west to British Columbia then the AlCan Highway from Dawson City Alberta all the Rocky Mountain Parks in Canada all the way to Denali National park in Alaska. Then all the way north to Prudoe Bay on the Arctic Ocean then back to Canada and the Seward Highway to Glacier National Park in Montana then south to Yellowstone.
Took a break and drove back to see my friend who is very ill and did the Colorado Natl Monument then Crater National Monument and the Grand Canyon.
And wanted More - so I went to one of my 3 Ancestral Birthplaces - Scotland and traversed all the Scottish Highlands, inner Hebrides, and Edinburgh.
I have to watch finances now but I am going to Circumnavigate all of Canada starting in Sault St Marie through PEI, New Foundland, Nova Scotia, then South through Maine and take all coastal road on the Atlantic Seabord to Key West - then all all coastal roads along Gulf Coast to Texas and then All border roads to San Diego then the PCH all the way Seattle again. Then to Vancouver - and the Southern Route to Thunder Bay Ontario then home.
I tell you all of this because I was despondent with little hope. However swing the greatness of this world on my terms saved me from myself. I have now been to all 50 states, traveled all interstates start to finish, most of Canada, 15 countries. But the last 185,000 miles all came in the last 3 years and that does not include flying.
I am not religious but I am Spritual. I suppose that I am a Deist as I believe God has given me my ability to believe.
I do apologize for the lengthy reply but now when a person of need asks - I tell so that their beautiful spirit can find peace.
In the words of Andy Dufresene to Red in The Shawshank Redemption I say this paraphrased for you:
      “Remember Nastaran,
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies. I will be hoping this letter finds you and finds you well.
      Your Friend,
      Robert (Bob)

You have a good nature and spirit Nasta, don’t ever let it wither. It’s probably the most important thing in life. Thank you for sharing. I hope you find peace with your past. For some of us the haunting last a lifetime. I had an extremely abusive mother as a child, young man, right into middle age when I went no contact with her. Then for the past twenty plus years I’ve been married to a woman, who I’m now divorcing, because she was also abusive. I’ve been disabled for twenty years, so it was hard for me to make the decision to leave, but I realized it was leave or have her try to kill my spirit on a daily basis until I die. I recently found out that she had been hiding three personality disorders from me. Once I understood the full extent of those disorders it all made sense and the decision to leave was made. I don’t know what will be left after all those years of abuse. I am indomitable mentally, so I’ve never had a break down. That being said, I know our experiences shape us, so all I can do is stay positive, learn from the past, and do my best to try and trust. Life is not made easier when you have no friends or family either. I wake up, put one foot in front of the other, and thank God for what I do have. I know things could be worse, and am grateful just to be here despite it all. Seeing people like you reminds me that not everyone in the world is an ugly monster. 🤙🏽

Thank you for telling about your personal story. It helped immensely. You are a very strong person and indomitable indeed, even though I had no idea what it meant 😁 I had to look it up, and you certainly are after all that. I imagine life is so much better when you look back and see what you survived and been thru. They say what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. I’m so glad you are not in that situation any longer, and your attitude towards it is so positive. As usual I appreciate you watching and hope to hear from you in the next videos. Mahalo

Aloha Nastaran, Wow-the video footage is so stunning-I love it! So, finally the finger is repaired and your off again-so happy for you👍👍👍 You do live two seperate lives it seems. Is some of your anxiety based on what the future holds for you? We all do have experiences in life that have lasting effects on us-of course some are positive and others are negative. It’s just like people-people come into and out of our lives, some are a blessing and others are teaching us a lesson either good or bad. These life experiences can be the same. Let me say that I have met very few people in my life that expresses kindness and gratitude, joy and excitement more than you do. Your fears and anxiety are true feelings but you have worked through them by your attitude and appreciation for the little things in life-“acknowledging your strengths “may help continue to free your anxiety about past experiences. You are such a sweet spirit!!! Mahalo David from Oregon 🌴🌴🌴🥰

Hello Dave, and so happy to see your comment. So glad you liked the video. I had to consolidate so many things that took place in San Diego, the surgery, returning to Hawaii…. and I was so behind as you could see. I too agree that everyone and everything that enters our lives, has a purpose and a specific lesson we learn from it, and it’s all about growth and understanding. I am grateful for every experience, but some do have lasting effects on us that are so easy to overcome. Maybe one day I can touch on exactly what it was and how life changing it was. Your kind soothing words always put a big smile on my face. I thank you for that. Mahalo David from Oregon and may you have the best day in your neck of the woods that puts a smile on your face as well.

@@Nastaran.Battles Aloha Nastaran, here are a couple of thoughts. First- people want to get rid of anxiety- but the advice is: only when the activities of living are accomplished in the presence of anxiety can the desire for relief be truly realized Second-The only way to the other side of anxiety is through it. We must learn to take it with us to the party, let it ride shotgun, try to understand its origin, and then go forward anyway. Anxiety always wants the same thing, certainty and comfort which makes it a predictable companion if not a pleasant one. Life , with all its ups and downs is always full of surprises. From what I can see you are moving forward in life and your anxiety is simply along for the ride. Your awesome!
Sorry for going on and on. All the best as you travel through this life. Mahalo for your kindness to all in your path. David from Oregon.
