      Yep. Refurb will cost a silly amount & will be over budget once they relaise that OT is literally rotting srcutally. Evne then you'll need another refurb in 20/30 years. Just kicking the can down the road.. Demand is there for a 100k+ stadium, 75-80k isn't enough. Only so much they can do with south stand as it will go over a live train track & backs onto terraced houses

      Brighton's stadium is not new anymore it is 13 years old, secondly now the owners know about the leak it will be fixed. The Amex stadium has been improved upon season upon season. The only thing that lets it down is getting away from it after a game as it's not close to the city centre and very few people can walk to and from it. That is location and nothing really can be done about that. Look at a video of the first game against Doncaster Rovers compared to the game against Forest last weekend, you will see it has changed.

Same goes for English football in general and Old Trafford. If you move even half a meter you lose history and identity forever. Exact place where Best, Charlton, Law, Cantona, Beckham etc. played. Have some ambition. Build a 130k capacity stadium and make it the biggest football stadium in the world. From all I've heard about season ticket waiting lists and day triplets they should be easily be able to fill it and make an absolute fortune.

    • @SuperMagnum83
      @SuperMagnum83 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Don't be stupid, getting a 100K modern stadium built anywhere in the world is incredibly expensive and to get planning permission in a western nation is almost impossible with the "not in my backyard" rights that the locals have. 100K is incredibly ambitious when the next biggest in the Prem is 63K, even Liverpool's current owners think 61K is enough for them.
      Also consider that after 60K the view from the stands is substandard with how far away the pitch is and the cost increases for each seat the further back it is because it's further off the ground. So the final 30K would cost as much to build as the first 100K and the final 30K are the cheapest seats because they are so far from the pitch, so the cheapest seats are the most costly to build.

    If they try to regenerate the stadium, because of the railway line to extend that side would cost so much more money because of the railway line, so best idea has to be to build a brand new stadium on the site next to the current stadium and then knock that one down as parking spaces will be needed and sod the women's football, if they can't generate enough interest to fill the new stadium then they can stay where they are, the idea of having two stadiums next to each other in order to help women's football, sod that, women dont tend to be that interested in watching women play football, which is fine, I have no interest at all in watching men play netball, but I am sure the women's netball league will not looking to make so many favours to a men's netball league, Old Trafford is where the men's team play, over the years they have created a fan base big enough to fill the stadium a few times over, therefore they need a bigger better stadium, women's football dont need that, if they did they could pay for it.

    Lol at Simon thinking the Spurs stadium is the most impressive in the world. By European standards it's nice but it still pales in comparison to the many of the new American stadiums. Heck there are basketball stadiums that are more advanced than European football stadiums.

    • @SuperMagnum83
      @SuperMagnum83 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's a similar standard to the best NFL stadiums, there isn't much difference between the Allegiant Stadium and Spurs Stadium. Now the Sofi Stadium and AT & T Stadium are something amazing that you don't see in Europe but Man United's could surpass them with it being newer.
      Also Who cares about Basketball Arena's, they only hold around 20K. Spending Billions on an arena that holds 20K is just a huge waste of money especially when you can force taxpayers to fund it.

      I loved Highbury but it wasn't fit for purpose. 38000 is all it held and it couldn't be expanded so we had to go up to the railway tracks to find space to build one that was. That said, we just started the planning process to redevelop Ashburton Grove, our roof is leaking too now and the interior is starting to look a bit tired. We probably need another 20000 seats too TBH.

      Highbury wasn't our original ground either, we built that after being chucked out by the MoD. And it was Ashburton Grove that triggered the bowl trend that everyone's now bored of, in 2006 it was seen as quite spangly. As it stands they're looking to not only redevelop inside the ground but the exterior too, but we'll see what comes of it.
