Worked with Steve Dailey many times, years ago, great guy, clean work, good to see he has taught his children well.
More Utah videos Matt!
I love seeing more women in the trades! Welcome to the Build Show Network, Stephanie.
Really? Why? Do you love seeing more men taking women's jobs too? Or does it only go one way?
I'm,not sure but I think I've seen her in a construction related utube video. I remember she said the life of a woman builder.
I look forward to seeing more of her content here on the buildshow.....keep up the good work!! 👍
More to come!
Im in Provo Utah and would like to see quality builds, looking forward to her videos!
You and me both!
I live in Sandy Utah just south of Salt Lake and I never heard of Stephanie Dailey before , you've got my interest.
Steven daily homes
I got three cool ideas from this short video. Awesome!
Stephanie, please add your content to a TH-cam channel.
or OnlyFans
id love to see more of the house as it gets a little further done
I learned something for my Utah build, thanks.
Right on
Love to see Stephanie on the build Show!
Matt, you must come back to this house when its complete. please.
So is there any insulation surrounding u/g heat , cooling tubes / And is there any EPS or other insulation under that slab floor ? We need min R-12 or more here further north
I want my next house to have a basement like that. That would be nice to have a pool in the basement also.
Cool video. Im used to crawl spaces so this is cool to see
Very impressive
A question or two. The concrete that was poured for the slab of the basement, there was no steel reinforcement, it is maybe because the concrete has fiber glass or some other micro reinforcement or not? Does the concrete have waterproofing additives mixed into? If not how is the resistance to cracks and waterproofing dealt with? Can be more information given the next time you present topics that I’m sure your viewers would appreciate? Thanks a lot.👍
Waterproofing isn't real essential, but they did lay down a plastic film (stego?) Before the pour
The concrete is poured with a fiber mesh additive and yes over stego. The house did not get a steel mat. It is however on top of 12” of compacted gravel so it’s pretty safe. The garage does get a rebar mat just to add extra support.
@@danonly7Yes I saw the vapor barrier.
@@801Fitch Thanks for the clarification. I work in civil engineering and I am pretty pedantic regarding floor slabs and concrete especially in the basement. You certainly know that thought process. Drainage, static pressure of the underground water, argon gas ….
Love the depressed mechanical room. Great idea.
Smart building.
Look forward to seeing the progression on that build - of my 11 homes over 30 yrs, all but 3 homes - North Texas/DFW, Greensboro NC and here in Bentonville AR, had 10’ walk-out basements, which were all eventually finished out to legit, legal-square footage sizings for the homes…. wherein the finished homes had $200-$300/sq ft values, we subsequently had high quality finished build-outs for the basements, adding at least 1,000 sqft of additional space, for between $75-$100/sqft….
Matt you gotta check out Mike Patey’s build in Spanish Fork Utah. He’s been doing a TH-cam series on it. It’s a pretty insane house. 24’ deep diving pool with a regular pool suspended in the air and a garage under the pool.
Agree!!
THNAKS for the heads-up! Mike's amazing!
Welcome Stephanie! The only Build Show contributor that doesn't have to sign-off in falsetto.
I prefer icf over poured walls. I know people with both and the poured ones I have been in seem musty even though they are fully dehumidified and air exchanged.
For sure. If you have the budget ICF has so many advantages
@@old1234, this is the 21st century, if your getting musty basements you’re doing it wrong.
@@boby115explain?
@@jesuscrespo-diaz956 , living in the STL Metropolitan area where 98% of the homes are built with basements, I can assure you musty basements have been around for more than 150 years. With in the last 20 to 30 years the progress they have made in mitigating moisture and air quality problems in basements have been astounding. I’m talking new product developments, testing ,HVAC systems and contractors that specialize in said work , where none existed 30 years ago.
I'm in love.
Stephanie came across as very likable and knowledgeable. Looking forward to her videos.
We agree!
Gotta love a massive foundation 😂
What about the insulation? Under the slab? Exterior?
Love seeing women being part of the trades.
I am a builder, remodeler, in the salt lake area. So happy to see a company representing Utah on the Build show finally! The best part is its a woman! I am beyond happy to see this. I wish we has more woman in our industry. She seems very knowledgeable, driven & and excited about her project! Killer!!!!!
Can I get the name of the concrete contractor that poured these walls?? I’m 3 hours north of here and looking to get 12’ walls poured would like a bid? Thank you in advance!
This is like a 250k incomplete basement by itself.
Can I donate to her foundation?
Stephanie if you need a Bull Horn I can Help
Since Mall was so much More Louder than You
lol Hope you were Laughing Out Loud at THAT
Building in Utah and no mention of radon abatement?
They will use the drain tile and a sump pump pit for the radon abatement system. Plus, the stay-go will keep the concrete seepage of radon at bay.
@boby115 stay-go won't do anything for radon. And with a basement that large, it would be more than one for sure, but made no mention.
The comment was more for not highlighting the abatement method during a build specifically to utah. Especially while pimping a builder in Utah.
@@The_Potato , you are correct they didn’t mention anything about radon mitigation. You are wrong about Stego Wrap not helping in the mitigation of underground gases, such as radon , methane and other soil gases. Your are just kidding yourself if you’re not putting down a quality vapor barrier to help suppress underground gases such as radon. I prefer the Polyguard Products . If you’re pouring basement slabs without a quality vapor barrier, believe me, you’re making a big mistake.
@boby115 never said I wouldn't use a barrier for a slab/basement pour. Simply stated a fact that ANY barrier used is wholly inadequate for radon mitigation. It is OK if you don't understand radon, a lot of people don't, that's why I'm still in business.
She mentions it in a previous video
You don’t pour a multimillion dollar concrete foundation and forget a simple thing like that
This gal knows her shit
These were just standard Wood Basement foundation forms. Matt needs to see aluminum basement forms in action (finishes as smooth as glass).
ICF R-30 would be a game changer for Utah. No interior wood walls to build inside a basement, nor any insulation crew required later
Looks like Symons to me, not wood framed forms.
@@billmccance7762 , insulated concrete forms not used much in my neck of the woods (STL Metropolitan area).ICF has a lot of advantages, not really sure why the forms are not used more.
@@concreteguyjd you are correct, those are Symons forms with plywood panels . I am sorry, I should’ve been more specific , I meant aluminum panel forms . I understand in India they are coming out with some type of plastic or fiberglass panel form .
Flat wall ties are the worst wall ties to use.
Why can't I watch videos on Build Show Network? 😢
underground duct work... um yeah that seams a bit excesive
They don’t use underground ductwork much anymore . Back in the day the termite exterminators would accidentally drill into them (unknowingly) and their chemicals sometimes would end up poisoning the customer’s family . A lot of municipal codes band the use of underground duct work because of possible poisoning.
“I’m from Austin, Texas. What’s a “basement”.
I don’t really understand why a homeowner would want such a deep basement. What is the cost/benefit?
Expand your livable space
Cost/benefit? Did you see the amount of concrete, details and those massive steel beams? Ain’t no consideration for cost/benefit in this build, this family is loaded
Going down gets a whole floor space of Square footage, the stem walls needed to go pretty deep 30" anyway for frost
Have to go down 3’ for walls anyways, might as well go down a few more feet, and DOUBLE your sq footage.
IMAGINE being so rich that your basement alone is a FULL MANSION
For non worldly people, Utahns are very worldly
Mormon mafia baby.
Great stuff. But I feel bad for Matt. Whomever films when he travels does an awful job. Camera shake, no panning to subject matter when talking about the subject, etc. And cuts during editing aren't even related to what they're talking about at the time (perhaps because editors only have poor source material). Dunno. Not hating on Matt, just wishing he had better resources.
Good feedback Jeff. Appreciate that
Matt, I’m very disappointed in you, a southern gentleman like you making a remark about a woman’s foundation, shame, shame, shame on you.
