I remember being skeptical of AC having any multiplayer and thinking it was pointless but they really did deliver a creative experience. It's too bad they didn't care at all about preserving it.
Favorite multiplayers that were either discontinued or never got enough praise. Alien Colonial Marines online, it was similar to L4D but got ignored because of the justifiable hatred for the single player. I wish they made a stand alone game for the online. MW2 DMZ was another that got discontinued in favor of MWZ which never received any new content. Meaning the COD devs canceled a peak mode for something they never planned to expand upon. And lastly Last of Us Factions, this was supposed to be a stand alone multiplayer using the Last of Us 2 engine but they cancelled it years after its announcement. (Also rip LBP and Battlefront 2)
I always like Unity’s the most. It wasn’t just basically death matches, and had you going on missions with your friends, while also having a decent open world to explore with them too. I wanted that for Black Flag with running my own crew of 3 other people that fit into each enemy type role, with bots that are used to help board ships and fire your cannons. Whether getting treasure, getting your own mansion, or even having PvP lobbies would’ve been cool. Origins would’ve made even more sense considering if they didn’t want the custom characters and full blown multiplayer, you could just have a co-op system where then you could play as another character in the story. For example, Aya since she’s also involved pretty decently in the narrative. Not to mention stuff like the gladiator arena and the hippodrome would’ve made for cool things to do with a friend or more.
The sad thing is this is one of the most ingenious little multiplayer games I’ve seen and it’s from a ambitiousless company like Ubisoft, it’s sad we lost it
We not only lost it, but now we're supposed to care deeply when they make another one, and expect that it will be handled better... It's a tall order from them lol
@@DegenerateJay at this point idk anything they could do to fix this, even if they suddenly realized good games will make them money and started pumping out 8s and 9s again the trust is gone and idk we’d change our minds in time to save them, I think they are done and it’s good but it’s also sad cuz I remember the Rayman days
Livid is a great way to put it. The multiplayer for AC Brotherhood is linked to some of my favorite times playing online and i miss it more than i could express. It felt so innovative and i haven't seen anything come close to it conceptually and execution since... This business model is genuinely disgusting imo, in general but especially as someone who grew up (and still is) piss poor. I've seen plenty of your other videos and tend to heavily disagree with your conclusions or positions, but i'm really glad this and the retro-compatibility video exist For a more recent game - although it was free to play and i miss it *way* less - there's DC Dual Force. It's a slightly different context but didn't keep up w the newsletter etc. side of stuff so it just came so out of nowhere when i noticed i couldn't boot it anymore. It stunned me almost the same Oh also, making things that last etc. was a thing in France too
Maybe this is just rose-tinted glasses, but when I was a kid and got AC Brotherhood, I only tried the multiplayer like 3 or 4 times, but I remember it feeling like something I'd never experienced before, it was such a unique form of multiplayer compared to any other game at the time. I remember thinking "I don't know what the hell is going on or what i'm supposed to do, but I really want to keep going". What I'd do to go back to that much simpler time, honestly
I loved the competitive multiplayer in Brotherhood/Revelations, but like Spies vs. Mercs in Splinter Cell, the players didn't play it how they should have & once a few months passed its player base was absolute killers & new players who couldn't hang with the rest.
It's actually a good point. It's funny because in AC3 and 4 especially they are pushing this abstergo parody but now in real life they often act like that parody.
I really would love multiplayer to come to the AC games I mean they decided to put too much RPG in it already why not bring the multiplayer back. Arkham origins I love the multiplayer it was fun to play as Robin. Also the thugs to play as was so much fun.
I just hope one day someone makes a game exactly like old ac multiplayer so Ubisoft can't take it from me. I mean there are some games like it deceive inc I guess.
I stopped playing ACMP when ACIII was announced. I was a massive fan of Brotherhood and really upset when support was cut for Revelations. Then when the cycle repeated after a year, I was done with the multiplayer. Also stopped buying AC games at that point because I saw the writing on the wall with annual releases.
Man I hated the old multiplayers soo freaking much. Literally the worst mp experiences of my entire life. The coop in unity was fucking awesome on the other hand I don't get why they didn't do it in future games.
I enjoyed both, but I get that. One thing I will say is that it's really sad they've just kind of let the unity multiplayer rot too. It's impossible to connect with other people now unless you do so randomly and you just hope that nobody else is on that mission trying to do it so that you get paired with your buddy.
@@DegenerateJay It all depends on the nat type like in black flags mp. I did the plat not long ago and it all comes down to who is hosting the game. Its a pain in the ass for sure.

Thank you to myself for the shout-out.

Its so sad to watch how Ubisoft has treated the games that their developers clearly worked hard on. It's always these business suits who ruin it too.
They also locked a ton of trophies and achievements behind those multiplayers that now if people pick those games up they just can't get.
I miss assassin's creed multi-player for ac brotherhood, and I wish I checked out multi-player for AC revelations 👍
Personally I love when Billion Dollar Companies control my access to having fun

Ubisoft when AC does something innovative 🔫🔫🔫

Man i wish got into Max Payne 3's multiplayer earlier before it became abandoned

Ubisoft has literally became abstergo industries

Batman Arkham Origins had so much potential!

The video you are playing is eliisium I. Odyssey right
I hope the modding community resurrects AC multiplayer.

ah been waiting for this video
brotherhood and black flag multiplayer need to come back just simple and good it’s not hard..but oh well
i rly don’t think ac should have multiplayer
