  • We put two of the latest PHEV to hit the market to the test. Both sit around the NZ$55-60k mark and both offer about 60km of EV only range - or do they?

Do not know the situation in NZ but where I am the MG comes with a seven year warranty and that is a significant sign of belief in their product.

Both nice cars, I'd take the mg HS anyday, hoping get one for next car, not the phev though just the 1.5turbo petrol 👌

Thanks for watching and comments. Agreed, they are both really good and great examples of how the vehicle industry is changing. Let us know when you get your MG.

both good card but here in the uk the HS 16.6kw costs from £27k and up where as the escape/kuga starts at £35k. If they were the same price id probably pick the Escape/Kuga but its really hard to justify that extra cost with how good value for money the HS already is, I also find it a little odd you mention about the power when the mg is 2 seconds quicker to 60.

Thanks for watching and comments. That's quite a bigger cost difference than down here and the MG is better value. However, the Ford just seems more complete, they've ironed out a few more usable kinks and the bigger cc's feel more substantial. You're right though, the MG is quicker off the mark and spins its wheels more. We recommend test driving both for sure.
