Do what I do - spend a bunch of time and money trying to DIY it, fail horribly, then buy the off the shelf parts anyway. The best of all worlds.

As it should be. Think the off the shelf is too expensive. End up spending more on a diy solution that doesnt work proprelly to finally just buy ots.

One thing we did on our FSAE cars back when we used the CBR600RR was to mount the clutch lever on the back of the shifter (closer to the driver). Then to upshift, you pull the clutch lever back (which doesn't engage the clutch, but does moves the shifter back), and to downshift you push the clutch lever forward, which engages the clutch and then shifts down. Just a thought.

I thought you would have gone with a Honda Rebel engine. Inline 2 cylinder for plenty of thumping noise and legendary Honda reliability. As for the oil starvation problem, you could make a secondary tall oil cylinder that would get the oil from the pan, push it through a long tube to the top of the oil cylinder and put the pick-up at the bottom of the cylinder. That way you won't have any problem with sloshing in the corners.

A friend of mine (Tony) had that inline 6 banger from Honda. There are few things in the world that sound better. Tony did not always ride it responsibly, and I often wonder if he is still alive.

I own a powersports shop and am currently putting a Goldwing 1800 engine into a microvan aka kei van. Not interested in all out power or rpm since it’ll be a commuter but the fact it has reverse, efi, is fairly short and decently compact width-wise made it a natural choice plus the 125hp/125tq make it ideal in the van, especially since the stock engine was 40hp carbureted inline 3… lol

    Great series of videos!
Have you considered modifying the the mounting angle of the throttle bodies? That is, space the ITBs outward and angled down towards the crankcase with tubular adapters.
This would have the possible benefits of: longer runner length, more room for a larger airbox, and eliminate the hole in the bonnet.
I believe the added runner length coupled with a bigger airbox would help engine response off the bottom.
    Thank you.

I had an original S600 and 4000rpm was pretty much what you needed to get off the line. Changing gear at 9000 was fun but how cool is going to 12-13k with the modern engine. Nice. - Great project.

Good choice on motor . We've ran a kaw ninja & a Yamaha in our Notabusa Competition Coupe (Subaru 360) . There are some killer Snowmobile motors ,even saw one in a airplane once.

The fact that a Hayabusa swap is so common and there's so much aftermarket is the best reason why it would have been at the top of my list.
Still, I can see why you went with Honda. Even though you did make a video explaining why swapping a Tesla motor and battery into a classic Jaguar wasn't ruining it

I still say cbx. I'll build one... If I can find a s600/800. For the music and sequential shift. TBC's, thermostatic oil cooler, accusump, big bore, proper jetting for linear mounting, etc.

All hail the algorithm!! Great choice, shocked you considered a Goldwing engine, being a flat design, looks like it wouldnt fit the small car. Also shocked you looked at the CBX just because not many people know of any kind of older motorcycle. Look forward to seeing the progress. Maybe I should bike engine my freebie 80 MGB.....
