They tell the doctors what to do. This is very sad. We are paying $850 per month for insurance to be covered for a medical emergency.
We pay 1200/ mo for insurance with a deductible of 9k per person. Meaning we would pay close to 40k per year before and insurance co pays a stinking dime. AND it resets each year. 40k per year every year before they pay a dime.

I think you're right. One really has to start to marvel at how terminally out of touch those upper echelons are. Can't wrap their head around Trump, and they're inexplicably surprised at the reaction to this incident. It would behoove them to wake up.
Psych nurse here . The psychopathy of health care CEOs is the issue! Let’s not be gaslit by the twisted assessment of mental health and moral human behavior. The power granted to CEOs to enact crimes against humanity, doesn’t excuse the CEO from making profits from the suffering of others to an “ art form”.:
The family had money but not that family.. So I've heard. Personally I hate how much it all casts. 15 years ago, a friend son broke his arm, cost 20 grand to take and xray and put on a cast. Insurance covered it, but it was a simple break. I'm constantly hearing stories of people just not paying. 50% of individual bankruptcies, are for medical bills. Everything costs so much they have to make up for losses by charging 20g for 2 hours of work on a broken arm.
So refreshing hearing smart adults exchange political ideas while tactfully disagreeing. You can feel their individual integrity. I'm Amber/Neil geeked out.

There are no standards of decent conduct anymore. We justify the most heinous while condemning the most innocuous. If we do not reverse this trend and return to standards of moral conduct then America is over.
Mangione’s background or people’s regard for him are not the salient issues here. Neither is it about the CEO, nor the assassination. Those secondary stories are a distraction. The issue is the evil state of the health care and health insurance industries.
Is she really trying to act like people think Brian was the sole problem? She’s right, we have voted for people that have only frustrated these issues but it’s not like those candidates were transparent about their policies in a way regular people could truly understand. Propaganda, corruption, and redirection have been tools in keeping regular people on both sides from seeing the issues clearly. People are waking up to that though.
Our elected official are responsible for the current mess in our health care system. Insurance companies are highly regulated and operate under laws and rules created by our government. We also hold some personal responsibility for the decline in our health, but that too is directly related to terrible policies. To single out one person or part of this mess is insane. We also need to be cautious about having an emotional reaction to these denials. There are many times people want treatment that is not part of common practice, shown to be effective, or that they meet the (highly regulated) criteria for coverage. I'm not absolving the insurance industry or their issues, but it's like trying to slay a dragon by giving it a paper cut.
Health care isn’t capitalist it’s corporations in bed with the government. Giving the government control of this sector won’t help. We need real capitalism, real competition, and real choice.
Glad to listen to Neil Stanage's intelligent insights. He actually listens to, and thinks about Amber's points, and they can converse together in a way that shows mutual acknowledgement and respect. All you need is to believe in yourself and have at least 1 person to give you a pay on the back. Consider yourself patted.
One of the greatest wins for healthcare insurance companies was the supposed "Affordable Care Act" wherein people were set to be fined for not having health insurance. Given how many are speaking of avarice from DC, I have to say, how many of them voted for the ACA? Every single one of them ought to be held accountable for empowering, enabling, strengthening, and preventing the market from having a proper reaction against the excesses of the selfsame industry. If we're going to blame the CEOs, we ought to blame the ones who got paid by lobbyists to force them into a monopoly.
Wouldn’t universal health care be the same, but on the hands of government/bureaucrats. I believe that a combination of both a private and a public healthcare system would be better.
Yes profits over people is bad. We should also have universal food and shelter supply, as well as whatever your job is. And any profit you have should be taken to give to those more needy because, as you say, profit over people is evil.
@@adriancastillo7657 Spot on. Fraud is rampant in Medicaid/Medicare and what day do WE have in how those are run? 100 years ago, there was NO “health insurance” to speak of, hospitals were largely either community owned or tun by religious orders and doctors had PRIVATE practice. “Obamacare” was foisted on false premises … and Canada definitely has “death panels” or something strongly resembling that. Remember, too, how many FULL TIME positions disappeared with “Obamacare”. There is a better way and that’s getting “government” and corporations OUT OF OUR LIVES. Finally, we do also sort of have “death panels” in that insurance won’t pay for anything but APPROVED treatment, so if you have a terminal or rare condition, SOL. What happened to “the science”? Naill, I don't discount Warren and AOC because I disagree with some of their other politics, I discount them because it's all lip service. They will tell you it's a problem, tell you there is something that needs to be done, then turn around and get their donations from the very same people they should be fighting against.
The online outrage isn’t strictly about health insurance. That’s just the current trigger. It’s about everyday life where your employer and corporations you deal with regularly are actively screwing you on a daily basis. Junk fees, costly add-ons, subscriptions, etc. As a consumer base we are getting scraped for cash everywhere we go. Everywhere we go it’s “no I can’t help you,” but also “would you like to donate? For an extra $1 you can upsize. You paid a day late, $35 please.”
Its not that he took a mans life but the fact someone actually did something to the health industry that made people so happy. They can get a new CEO anytime but who wants to take that job if its jot just a 1-20 million a year job.
The American public has not allowed insurance companies to get away with anything. Congress has. Our elected PUBLIC SERVANTS have failed to properly regulate insurance, pharmaceutical and tech companies, banks, etc. It is their job to do this and to create ;policies that help the American people. We need to wake up and realize that corporate greed is only half of the equation. And the solution is to start voting people out of office. From both parties.
What’s the appropriate response? That’s not for you or anyone else to decide. The public has spoken. Luigi has widespread support because the health care system is widely despised and entirely corrupt. Until that changes, people will always support heroes like Luigi.
Niall as the left leaning commentator is much better than the woman you had previously. His views here are well considered and thought through. As an outsider I see American healthcare as crazy, but the NHS or Australian Medicare isn’t a panacea either. John Fetterman cosplaying as one of us in his Carhartt hoodies. Shameful. Absolutely shameful. But im so glad theyre reacting the way they are, its waking everyone up.
The idea of insurance in the US is absolutely anti-capitalist, especially in the wake of the disastrous ACA ("Obamacare"), at least to me as someone from the libertarian side of politics.
Health insurance in America is an example of fascism, not capitalism (free markets). Fascism involves government collusion with big business to maximize profit at the expense of taxpayers.
My doctor tells me that I ought to have more pain medication -- for system wide, crippling arthritis. BUT he says his hands are tied by the U.S. DEA which tracks the prescriptions.
He did not even live with his wife and children. They lived in separate houses.
Watching rich people react told me the truth about America. National Healthcare Now - Actions not Words
Health insurance in America is an example of fascism, not capitalism (free markets). Fascism involves government collusion with big business to maximize profit at the expense of taxpayers.
United healthcare agents now are doctors without a doctor diploma. My doctor prescribed a pill for my heart. Very expensive pill. " Brilinta" But United healthcare sent me a letter saying they are not going to cover the pill for my heart. Have your doctor prescribed a different pill for you. 😅. Now they are doctors too. They tell the doctors what to do. This is very sad. We are paying $850 per month for insurance to be covered for a medical emergency.
Rich people don’t care.
We pay 1200/ mo for insurance with a deductible of 9k per person. Meaning we would pay close to 40k per year before and insurance co pays a stinking dime. AND it resets each year. 40k per year every year before they pay a dime.
That’s truly obscene. Most people cannot afford that.
They just put Briana Boston, a 42-year-old mother of three for getting angry over the phone to an insurance company. We have another hero!
I think, that the upper echelons of power are surprised by the reaction of the US populace. By the reaction fully justified.
Don't worsen your position by making all your opponents mentally challenged.
"Don't mess with a nation that needs medication"
The one time i agree with AOC. I work in a memory care facility so I can vouch for people being denied needed care.
And Niall is right, its hard watching people suffer. I'm all for Trump, but Luigi spoke for millions.
THERE'S SO MUCH MORE TO THIS ISSUE. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVED GUILTY. PLEASE PRAY FOR LUIGI MAGLIONE. PRAYERS FOR LUIGI MAGLIONE.!
In response to citizen’s collective outrage over the American health system I fully imagine congress’s response to be subsidizing these CEO’s security detail.
We are heading towards a society of lawlessness. This is really sad.
Wow can’t believe I agree with AOC. Luigi is bringing regular people together across party lines.
Insurance isn’t healthcare. Brian was not a “healthcare” executive.
It's scary how unable or unwilling people are to understand the basics of the system and then use that to become an apologist for random violence.
The only thing he was caring for was money. Making profits out of the suffering of Americans.
His salary package was $10 million per year. There is a cost for being too greedy and hurting others with your greed.
And he pays less taxes
40% of U.S. bankruptcies are medically related.
Amber's right. There are LOTS more executives in need of a Mangione visit.
Niall's Notes... I approve of it. He's been the best "leftist" that this show has had yet. Long gone are the aggravating episodes with people like Nomiki, Jessica, and BJG. THANK GOD.
Perhaps because he isn't too "leftist" for you? Or is it about demeanor?
I don't think Nomiki ever had a monologue. Jessica had a few but I can't remember them. Brianna's monologues were well-documented and logical.
@@liuj88 I wasn't speaking specifically about "radars" for those other pundits, just their general contributions to the show. They were insufferable. Terrible personalities and wrong most of the time. I agree with their stances on Gaza however.
There are no standards of decent conduct anymore. We justify the most heinous while condemning the most innocuous. If we do not reverse this trend and return to standards of moral conduct then America is over.
My favourite hosting pair on Rising!!!!
There going be alot of copy cats with all the glory lugi getting. Im just sit back with my popcorn and watch
Mangione’s background or people’s regard for him are not the salient issues here. Neither is it about the CEO, nor the assassination. Those secondary stories are a distraction. The issue is the evil state of the health care and health insurance industries.
I am a conservative who really likes Amber (and typically agrees with her). I think Niall is 100% on the mark with this one, though.
Thank you for covering this issue fairly.
Medicare for all!!!!!!!!!
Maximizing profits at all costs is a feature, not a bug of the current American Culture. Even when the cost is literally other peoples life-years
Oligarchy
Health care isn’t capitalist it’s corporations in bed with the government. Giving the government control of this sector won’t help. We need real capitalism, real competition, and real choice.
Glad to listen to Neil Stanage's intelligent insights. He actually listens to, and thinks about Amber's points, and they can converse together in a way that shows mutual acknowledgement and respect. I am so glad Robby Soave is gone from this platform; nobody needed his constant repetition of narrow-minded, pro-establishment propaganda.
Amber and Niall, your best combo. Give Robbie a long vacation.
Thanks for setting her straight. She would have snitched on him.

They are separated for years. Wife lives in another house
Profits over people is evil. We need universal healthcare.
Shouldn’t a person have a say in whether they want to try something ELSE?
@@adriancastillo7657
And that’s basically what we have now with all the lobbiests.
Keep voting republican and there will never be universal healthcare.
I feel like 2 wrongs don’t make a right. Even with this case. He was definitely a parasite and a good representation of what is wrong with our health system but his kids were innocent and they lost their dad.
Nail is on point here. The murderer seemed to have completely lost his mind. Def no hero. Chronic pain does things to the brain. But once you’re disabled your just gaslighted and left to fend for yourself. I’m talking from 5 spinal surgeries. They just need to stop doing those. Just do physical therapy people.
It’s hard to do physical therapy when you don’t have the money to pay for it and the insurance won’t cover it
@ that is so true. I at least have my wheel chair. This episode just about brought me too tears about the precious children getting denied coverage.
ALL the insurance company PROFIT is the money that SHOULD be going to HEALTH CARE. Insurence is just money laundering and
the EXECUTIVES are just taking the money that is MEANT to HELP SICK PEOPLE.
You could say that about any business. McDonald's made 8 billion last year. How many poor people could that have fed?
eat the rich
Rarely do I agree with the "left". But Niall is right on point. The question here is... how do we move forward and address the issues??? OR will it be buried after the news cycle passes???
What the heck is "reax"?
Naill, I don't discount Warren and AOC because I disagree with some of their other politics, I discount them because it's all lip service. They will tell you it's a problem, tell you there is something that needs to be done, then turn around and get their donations from the very same people they should be fighting against.
Love you Niall. So happy the left has a rational voice here finally. And Amber so based! I could watch these 2 all day!
“Concerned” was what he was about his stock value, Mrs duke
The politicians will forget about this by next week. Maybe sooner, if the story runs out of political mileage for them.
My prayers 🙏🙏 are for Luigi Mangione, his mom, and family.🙏🙏
Poor woman, she is trying too hard lol😂😂😂
Why are cost so high? The greed of CEOs and insurance corporations. They don't care! I am not burdened by this at all.
Time for legislation to nix great corporate profit and salaries on things like insurance that are mandated by law!!!
Its not that he took a mans life but the fact someone actually did something to the health industry that made people so happy. They can get a new CEO anytime but who wants to take that job if its jot just a 1-20 million a year job.
And no his/her profile with picture online.
I am dropping my UNIRED HEALTHCARE INSURANCE
What’s the appropriate response? That’s not for you or anyone else to decide. The public has spoken. Luigi has widespread support because the health care system is widely despised and entirely corrupt. Until that changes, people will always support heroes like Luigi.
That's a dangerous principle. You could easily swap out Luigi and the healthcare system for other actors at other times.
Excellent, quality discussion.
Same thing happened to me when my hospital asked me to pay for my surgery bills and I told them that my insurance already covered my bills
Insurance is corrupt! No longer what you pay for, or looking out to help. Corporate greed out of control at the top levels!
Niall as the left leaning commentator is much better than the woman you had previously. His views here are well considered and thought through. As an outsider I see American healthcare as crazy, but the NHS or Australian Medicare isn’t a panacea either. We have different issues that can lead to poor outcomes while different doesn’t make them better. The Swiss have seem to have a better system than any of us, yet rarely or ever does anyone point to them as a possible system to model.
First time hearing these two. Amber makes a horrible first impression. UHC is a multi billion dollar corporation that makes billions off of denying health care to people when they’re most vulnerable! ANYONE standing up to them is admirable.
